Speedy deletion nomination of File:Emilie-ClaireBarlow.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Emilie-ClaireBarlow.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Stefan2 (talk) 13:57, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent edit to Dzungar genocide does not have an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, even if it is very brief, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history.
The edit summary appears in:

Category reverts
[edit]Hello! I reverted several of your additions of categories to some pages, as I noticed you have been adding broad categories to articles already containing specific categories redundant with the broader categories. For one example, in the article Yavuz Yapıcıoğlu, you added Category:Turkish murderers, when the article was already categorized under Category:Turkish serial killers. See Help:Categories for examples of the category hierarchy of Wikipedia. I do not have time to dig for more, please check your past category edits for any other instances of this! T.S. Eliot Categories
[edit]Hi, I'm that person who's been reverting your edits on the T.S. Eliot page that replace "Literary Critic" with "Social Critic". I REALLY would like to avoid heading down the edit war road, so I'd like to discuss it here, if you don't mind?
My reason for reverting was because although Eliot was an English literary critic, he also should be under the broad category of literary critics in general. The reasoning behind that is because he greatly influenced the criticism school of New Criticism, which was very influential during the 20th century in countries besides England.
In theory I wouldn't mind if he was labeled as a social critic IN ADDITION to being labeled as a literary critic; however, his social criticism is barely mentioned in the article. (In fact, I might have missed any references to it besides his books on the topic being present on the list of non-fiction he wrote.) I think the best path on that would be to add a couple sentences about his social criticism, then add him to the category without removing literary critic.
It's quite possible I'm wrong about this. What do you think? Luthien22 (talk) 16:32, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
Your edits at Australia
[edit]Per WP:SUBCAT, "A page or category should rarely be placed in both a category and a subcategory or parent category (supercategory) of that category". As Category:Australia, of which Australia is a subcategory of all of the categories that you added in this edit (and this earlier edit) it's not necessary for Australia to be added manually to those categories as, by virtue of it already being in a subcategory, it already is a member of those categories. That's one of the points of categorisation. If you have problems with this, please take it up at Talk:Australia. Thankyou. --AussieLegend (✉) 14:51, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 1999 in Sudan
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on 1999 in Sudan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Arthistorian1977 (talk) 08:37, 8 February 2015 (UTC) Thank you for clarification on my talk page. I've removed the nomination. Arthistorian1977 (talk) 09:29, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Jackninja5
There has been a complaint at the help-desk that Template:Year in United Kingdom is not displaying correctly, which it didn't for me (Vector, IE11) when looking at a few pages.
I'm not an expert on template coding, and I am not sure what you were trying to achieve, so have reverted it back to the version before your changes on 8 February. It now displays correctly for me.
Assuming it looked OK to you, after you had made the changes, I don't know if this a browser issue - which skin and browser were you using? - Arjayay (talk) 13:29, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I'm Lakun.patra. Jackninja5, thanks for creating 1972 in Iraq!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Great Job. Hope that you add more info to the article about what all happened in 1972 in Iraq
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Lakun.patra (talk) 05:49, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
Your contributed article, Modern history of Armenia
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Modern history of Armenia. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – History of Armenia. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at History of Armenia – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. JBH (talk) 01:02, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
2013 in Iraq
[edit]hello colleague. I appreciate your articles such as 2013 in Iraq, but it disenchants me that you give no reference sources at all in them.
No doubt you have only good intentions with such useful articles, but it seems to me far outside the Wikipedia tradition to give no references in them. For example:
24 March 2013: US Secretary of State John Kerry arrives in Iraq on an unannounced visit to press for greater co-operation over the conflict in Syria.
Normally, if I'd like to know more about such a fact, I just click on the given ref source and usually land in a newspaper article or scholarly report. Now, while you don't give us your sources in those articles, I stay rather blindfolded and puzzled with such 'shorthand' informations.
Could you please start adding your sources? --Corriebertus (talk) 13:18, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for answering (on my page). I hope you'll manage, in the future, to add sources, here and there.
I fail to understand your second remark, about "...another place would be...". Did I say or suggest that anything was wrongly placed? --Corriebertus (talk) 10:07, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 2007 in East Timor
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on 2007 in East Timor requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6374587.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6394521.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6398415.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6245267.stm. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Continuing copyright violations
[edit]Hello Jackninja5. I note that last month you were warned about problems with your editing; in particular it was brought to your attention that you appeared to be contributing text in violation of its copyright. You have continued this behaviour right up until the present day with edits such as this and this. It is very important that you immediately stop copying non-free text from third-party sources into Wikipedia articles, and that you provide the legally required attribution for any text you copy within Wikipedia. Ideally this should be done by placing a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
If you continue to violate copyright your account will be blocked and you will be unable to make further contributions. —Psychonaut (talk) 10:30, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Kosovo category
[edit]Hello Jackninja. This is a courtesy message to let you know I removed Kosovo from the countries in Europe category which I see from the history you added some months back[1]. It is just for one reason I have done this and that is that the other partially recognised states do not have a "countries in" category and Kosovo would hereby stand alone as an entity sitting among countries whose sovereignty is not disputed. I hope you won't mind this. I have not checked every single entity to be disputed but the ones I did had no such category. If you find one that contains this category please let me know so I look into its circumstances. Many thanks. --Oranges Juicy (talk) 14:20, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Copyright violation
[edit]I found some copyrighted text on the 2007 in Indonesia article that you added in December 2014. The text about the 7.3 earthquake was lifted from the BBC and the text about the 14-year-old bird flu victim was lifted from islamweb.net Both sources are copyrighted, and since it looks like you've been notified about copyright violations before, now might be a good time to go back through your contributions and remove or rewrite any remaining instances. You'd know best where they are (the rest of us don't want to keep cleaning up after you). Thank you, Dawnseeker2000 02:43, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

Rollback granted
[edit]Hi Jackninja5. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. [edit]Hi! I noticed you reverted four edits at this article. After looking at the article history, I decided it better to replace the content with a redirect to 2020 Summer Olympics (as had been done by Chanheigeorge). In addition, sources were cited that do not support the text (and that cannot be verified—"The Games made use of about 400 footballs.", for example, supported by a reference to the 2016 Olympics). — Neonorange (talk) 18:22, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Fair Use in Australia campaign update
[edit]I'm writing you this followup message, as you took the time to vote in support of a Wikipedia banner campaign for the introduction of Fair Use in Australia.
After much planning and coordination with the WMF, Australian Digital Alliance, and Electronic Frontiers Australia, as of Monday the banner-campaign is active on English Wikipedia to a portion of logged-out readers in Australia (technical details). The banners direct people to this page on Meta: FairCopyrightOz. That page, alongside lots of information, further directs people towards the campaign website faircopyright.org.au where Australians are invited to write to their local MP to express support of Fair Use. If you are interested in supporting this campaign, please, send a letter yourself using the template letter provided at that link.
Furthermore, and with the support of the ADA & EFA, we have received fantastic media coverage - with article "Fair Use: Wikipedia targets Australians in bid to change the law" appearing on page 2 of the Sydney Morning Herald and page 10 of the Melbourne Age on Monday's edition. It was for a time the 3rd most read article the Fairfax website, and Fair Use was "trending" on Twitter in Australia. We are running the account @FairCopyrightOz on twitter, and we are tracking other press-mentions on the talkpage on Meta.
Today, day 2, we published a detailed post about the campaign on the Wikimedia Blog, ran an "Ask Me Anything" Q&A session on the Australia page in Reddit, and [by happy coincidence of timing] the article History of fair use proposals in Australia appeared on the en.wp mainpage as a Did You Know. [The creation of that "history of..." article was a specific request arising from in the community consultation in which you voted].
And, most importantly, in a little more than a day nearly 800 letters to MPs have been sent encouraging them to support the Productivity Commission's recommendation to adopt Fair Use in Australia. I urge you - please add your own message.
Sincerely, Wittylama 16:55, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

2009 in Somalia
[edit]Isn't this article a content fork of this other article: 2009 timeline of the War in Somalia? ---Steve Quinn (talk) 05:12, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- I created that back in 2014 when I was still sort of new to the whole thing. Yes, I would say it is now. Personally I think that the page should only include stuff unrelated to the war like elections and possible births that may be revealed 30 years later. ANI Experiences survey
[edit]The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (led by the Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) is conducting a survey for en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.
The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:
