Cardinal point (optics)

[edit]

HI Daaxix. I saw your edits at Cardinal point (optics). Think it through carefully. Remember that when you take a panorama with a conventional camera, you are not rotating just the lens but rather are rotating the whole optical system including the sensor on which you capture the image. That turns out to be important. The function of the aperture in the optical system is also important.--Srleffler (talk) 01:13, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Canberra March for Science.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. FYI, re your edit comment, I'm nonbinary as well. Funcrunch (talk) 06:47, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yay! I think the scientific nomenclature is fairly clear about sex vs. gender, and for trans non-binary humans who are taking hormones there may be both gender and sex identities which matter. Perhaps we can make it more clear throughout the article?
I commonly see this misuse and mixing of terms of sex and gender and feel that we can work to increase understanding about the differences. I'll make some edits to try to make it more clear, then could you have a look to see if you agree? Daaxix (talk) 22:32, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, can you stop trying to edit war your changes in and discuss on the talk page? The source cited says "Some people have a gender which is neither male nor female and may identify as both male and female at one time, as different genders at different times, as no gender at all, or dispute the very idea of only two genders. The umbrella terms for such genders are genderqueer' or non-binary' genders." I don't disagree that sex is different from gender, but male and female are terms that refer to both sex and a gender identity, and this case the meaning is in terms of gender identity. Thanks.
