Your RfA
[edit]I concur with the above. Appreciate your stepping up but you need a little more time and experience before asking for the tools. Have a look at my criteria for RfA for some ideas on what I and other often look for. Best regards... -Ad Orientem (talk) 16:01, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- I wanted to add that you seem to be on the right track @Cyberwolf:. Think of it as a slow plod towards the mop rather than a race. Keep up the good work. Knitsey (talk) 16:26, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
Friendly advice on G1 and patent nonsense
[edit]Hey! I came across Draft:Ratmouse while reviewing drafts, and saw that you had tagged the draft for deletion under WP:G1. While the page clearly has to go, your tagging of the page as patent nonsense isn't quite right. G1 would have been applicable had the page only contained the ASCII art, of course; but the presence of other, readable material that can make sense (even if it is obviously a hoax) means that G1 cannot be used here. The correct criterion for deletion would have been WP:G3 - vandalism and blatant hoaxes. I advise you to understand the policy on what is defined as "patent nonsense" on Wikipedia first before continuing your patrolling. JavaHurricane 16:04, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- Just saw your RfA and this. I echo the sentiments of my experienced colleagues above: please don't be disheartened! I've failed an RfA as well, on another Wikipedia, and I had the same crushed feeling after that. But I've stuck around, and so should you. I know highly respected admins who passed RfA on their second attempts, or even more. Ultimately, failing RfA isn't the end of the world - there's tons of things you could do to help out with without needing admin tools. Adminship is, to be honest, a very difficult responsibility, and I know editors who have been around for years but don't want to go for admin. Take a few years to learn the nitty-gritty of Wikipedia policies and customs, and get a track record of constructive work in admin-adjacent areas (such as AfDs and CSDs) and in discussions; I for one won't be surprised to see other experienced editors offer to nominate you for adminship. Already you are on the right path, long and rather tough as it is - and there are many editors (including myself) willing to help you out on it. Best of luck, once again! Rollback granted
[edit]Hi Cyberwolf. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle. It just adds a [Rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision - that's all. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the rights will be revoked.
- Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:33, 7 November 2023 (UTC)
Accusation of vandalism
