Mercedes-Benz R171

[edit]

Just a quick response to your removal to my edit of Mercedes-Benz R171. The article is very list heavy, and the list of factory options is very long, and not very interesting. Not sure why you think such things as High capacity battery, CD Changer in glove box (6 disc), Alarm system with tow-away protection, 'Homelink' Garage door opener, Pre-installation for roof carrier systems, Basic carrier bars, Interior lighting package (standard SLK 350, SLK 55 AMG) etc are so important. It just hides the important and interesting stuff. Warren (talk) 17:20, 7 April 2011 (UTC) because it documents the changes and differences in different markets. All those options you mentioned are very regional, and in the US, they are only sold in packages, or not at all.Cyberdrakon (talk) 11:06, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Still not of significance for the overall car and makes this entry look like a sales leaflet (does the existence of a high capacity battery or a garage opener option really make for interesting reading?). Warren (talk) 13:38, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, very interesting. It's not a sales leaflet specifically because this is information that MB wouldn't put out.Cyberdrakon (talk) 08:31, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You just can't keep deleteing whole edits without proper consideration. If you think the one or tuners I did not include in the prose are notable, then find a reference to support your argument. You will have noticed that I have gone to the trouble of inserting wikilinks for those that appear elsewhere in wikipedia so you do not seem to have a valid case to delete the edit wholesale. Warren (talk) 08:29, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

i see you added wikilinks, and that's great. So is writing in prose, but if you only write about the ones that are interesting and deleting the ones you have no interest in, then you end up encouraging advertising oriented posts. I don't see why you can't just leave what is there and add your 'prose'?Cyberdrakon (talk) 11:06, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have no interest in any specific company or tuner. If the tuner was of particular notability, then I would expect there to be a wikipedia article already, hence my initial edit to make into prose and retain those with wikipedia articles which would suggest some exiting notability rather than listing any and every tuner in existence. Just seems a but petty to keep reverting a list of companies that have a periphery interest in the subject matter of the article. And no doubt future editing will remove any advertising and spam if this was to happen. Warren (talk) 13:38, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"exiting notability"? not every tuner is listed, only the major ones. If you wanted to be strict about it, AMG and Brabus are the only companies that deserve to be listed there. "a but petty"?. If you had just added your prose and left the ones you didn't have any interest in typing out in list form that would have been fine, but you removed relevant information.Cyberdrakon (talk) 08:31, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
