Hmm

Can't you just wrap it up before you meet us? Make it nice and low-key for that day? Haha, well, our squad is too small – we've only had five defenders all season, for example. We just don't have the cash that Wolves, Brentford, Preston, Posh etc have got. It's still our best season since about 1980, and we've been a bit unlucky in that in other seasons we'd have been promoted with the points we have. We're resting players for the play-offs already. Looks like Preston for us in the play-off semi, I think. Wolves have been the class act throughout, I think, and your promotion will be thoroughly deserved. Stay up, this time!! My tip though is for Rotherham to get automatic promotion and push the Bees into the playoffs. Rotherham are on fire at the mo. Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:25, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Rotherham might find Sheffield United quite tough, but Sheff weren't all that hot against us on Saturday, and we probably should have beeaten them. Crewe can be awkward but you will stiff them providing you don't get complacent up there in the stratosphere! Good luck with those records – I think by the time you play Orient, we might be resting a fair few players, so I doubt we'll give you a tough time, to be honest. I'll be happy to have those extra two days off during the play-offs, as we'll need all the rest we can get. Quite a few players are playing with niggles and knocks. I'm dreading the play-offs really because I've been to two play-off finals with Orient and we lost them both! 1–0 to Scunthorpe at Wembley in 1999, and then 4–2 to Blackpool a few years later at the Millennium Stadium. Third time lucky, maybe? Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:12, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
If Sheffield United had been this good throughout the season, we'd have another team at the top to deal with! They'll be up there next season, I'm sure. Coventry too. But you're right – definitely a few twists and turns to come before the end of this season. I hope Wolves and Orient don't trip each other up in any way; I'd still like to see both go up, and Wolves deserve the top spot. It will indeed be disappointing if we miss out, as I'm really not sure we'd be able to repeat the performance nest season! Wow, Wolves don't have a great play-off tradition, do they?! Just as well perhaps that you won't need them this time round ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:04, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
I imagine it being just a fantastic experience winning the play-offs. Trip to Wembley that doesn't end in tears, everybody happy and a huge season to look forward to in a higher league. I was never really keen on the play-offs either but right now, I guess I'm glad they exist! Yes, Sheffield United will already be thinking about next season, and they'll be among the favourites. Hopefully everyone will be talking about Orient in terms of certain relegation from the Championship! I'd take that right now :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:43, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
I think you're right – Orient in the Championship... we might well be relegated but I don't think we'd be disgraced. Yeovil are doing a fair job. Anyway, looks like the top two are sorted after Rotherham lost. Looks like I was wrong about them being runners-up! Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:43, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Australian GP 2014

You reverted my change yesterday (I added link to f1scope on the page of Australian GP). I find f1scope page very useful. I also think it is interesting to see the laptimes visualized next to the report of a grand prix. What is the reason that my link is considerd spam ? Should I modify something to get it linked ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Misw74 (talkcontribs) 11:46, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Playoffs

Enough goals in your game, was there?! Haha, thanks for softening Rotherham up for us anyway. We might meet them in the playoffs. Congrats on going up, and I'm sure if we play like we did today, you'll have no problem at all on Monday. We were awful. I wouldn't mind if we rested a few players and dropped a couple of places. We've got some very tired legs. Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:23, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Every club has a few that let the side down, sadly, and several times we've had to replace a number of seats in our away end after we've given someone a good beating. Yes, very tight for 3rd to 5th. I'd prefer there to be no championship party at our place on Monday! Maybe Brentford can prolong the drama. Anyway, wouldn't you rather win the title at home?! Pretty please? Haha... Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:34, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Totally agree. Bit flattering for Wolves, although it's clear why you're top. Orient should definitely have had a penalty in the first half, nice bit of juggling from your centre half! But that's the way it goes sometimes, hopefully if we play that way in the play-offs and have a bit more luck, we'll join you in the promised land ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 13:12, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
And your keeper! Excellent. Bretonbanquet (talk) 13:13, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
To be fair, it's quite an impressive beard. Haha... Yes, Cox is fast becoming an Orient legend, and on his day, he's nearly unplayable. Just think how good he might be if he were a sensible height! I hope Ikeme can stay fit for you, he deserves a decent run in the Championship by the looks of him. Easily one of the best keepers we've seen at Brisbane Road this season, if not the best. Also I thought your manager made a couple of classy comments about us after the game as well. I'd take Rotherham in the final, although it's quite possible we could meet them first, it's so tight up there. We could be 5th tonight! :( Bretonbanquet (talk) 13:52, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
It seems a few clubs have a player with a frightening beard – even our own Romain Vincelot followed suit. Cox and Giovinco are very similar in style, I'd not noticed that before. Cox would like that comparison! He can sometimes get bullied out of a game but he never gives up. Do you think Jackett was the big difference for you between this season and last? We have been wondering how on earth your lot got relegated last season... Yes, stability and consistency are absolutely vital at any level, I think. Slade has proved that at Orient, but how come the Premier League clubs never learn?! Preston thumping Shrewsbury as I type, but Rotherham unable to score... yet. Brentford currently denying you the title, technically, but I think only the geekiest mathematicians will worry about that... Bretonbanquet (talk) 15:35, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Spoke too soon about Rotherham, of course. Bretonbanquet (talk) 15:40, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Jackett just seems to have made the players want to play to the best of their ability. There was no doubting the ability in the squad, but that's only half the battle. Fair to say you wouldn't have come down with Jackett in charge. Yeah, there was certainly a few months where there was some doubt as to who would go up. I'd lost count of the tweets I'd seen from Wolves and Brentford fans asking when Orient would stop winning! You deserve that C, and you will do well next season. I just hope Orient get a P and join you! Fingers crossed. Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:36, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Haha... I think you're right. But I'm hoping Rotherham are starting a wobble, thanks to the barrage your lot gave them. They struggled to beat Port Vale yesterday. On our day we can beat anyone but if we're having an off day, we'll lose to the local pub team. We'll see what happens! Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:24, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
Home advantage would be very nice, although we have been pretty handy away this season. I'd like to avoid weekday trips up north though! Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:08, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
True, although Peterborough isn't too far. But mainly, I want the away trip to be on the weekend, i.e. the first leg if we finish 3rd or 4th, so Orient are at home for the second leg, which is on a weekday evening! Call me lazy... ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:26, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
This time next year, maybe you will!! :p Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:01, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
True, it's always tough. You'll definitely be top half though :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:02, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Third

It's great to finish third! I think we deserved it, just about. Peterborough now, and it won't be easy. Play-off anguish or play-off glory?! Congratulations on your massive points total by the way. No doubting who were the best team over the season! Bretonbanquet (talk) 16:46, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

I think that's what a lot of Orient fans are doing – just pausing to realise what a good season it's been for us with our limited resources. We'll be majorly disappointed if we get punted out by Posh, but it'll still have been a great year. I totally agree with you about relegating another team, it's never a nice feeling. We beat Tranmere last week, and we suspected we might be dooming them somewhat, and it turned out to be true. There but for the grace of God... ! Bretonbanquet (talk) 12:08, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
Exactly, Peterborough have been to Wembley already this season! Plus they keep going up to the Championship and getting relegated again. If we don't go up, I'd rather see Rotherham have a go. But we haven't been there since 1982! Overdue! Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:57, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, it's pretty much the stone age. That said, I do remember it! I was nine and we got relegated from there two or three years after I (inexplicably) chose Orient as my team, and we've never been back since. Any rumours that I jinxed them are strictly unsubstantiated ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:04, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Grand Tour Stage Winners

Cs, I'd be down to help out with the list of riders who have won a stage in all three grand tours. If you're still up for it. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 00:25, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Sweet! My first concern is what the page would be called, any ideas? "List of Cyclists with a Stage Win in Each Grand Tour" was what came to mind for me. However, that is super long... is there a shorter way of saying that? I was thinking that the list — which would be sortable — would have eight columns: 1. Rank 2. Name 3. Years between stage wins 4. Giro Stage wins 5. Tour Stage Wins 6. Vuelta Stage wins 7. Total Stage Wins 8. Refs . Does that sound good to you? I have a list of 20 or so riders that have multiple stage wins from the Grand Tour (cycling) page. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 16:37, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Yeah that title will work fine. Okay so is this the article you mentioned here. This link is a game and has riders, its obviously not RS but we could get sources to verify their wins. If those aren't the ones you found, then they'll just be a good start then I guess. I'd also like to have a section of people winning a stage in each in a single calendar year if that's cool. I like the clean sweep idea as well. I went ahead and started the page and did the top 5 here. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 16:42, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
Would you say the sports.org is an RS? [1] Because I think that could be used as a source for each cyclist, or possibly sports-reference [2] which I have seen used in many FLs and FAs. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 17:51, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
Yeah those would definitely work! The only downside about the sports reference ones is that they don't really show the specific stages they just mention the totals for the major riders. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 18:20, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
I just looked at the 1968 page and I remember beefing that page up a bit and seeing that they did award him Motta's former stage win... But I know there are some sources that still would say merckx had 64... This puts us in a real pickle. Why did people have to dope man?Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 18:41, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
Yeah I guess a footnote would have to suffice then. I'm sure we're going to encounter some more of those problems as we fill in the list. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 18:58, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
Most definitely, I might add a good 10-15 more later tonight. Disc Wheel (Talk + Tontributions) 19:06, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

Wembley

Hahah, thanks ;) My word, that was hard work watching that. Couldn't get a ticket so I watched on TV and it was torture! Very very even game really, but Posh lost a bit of edge in the second half and we kept plugging away. When the final whistle went I don't think I've ever gone from pure stress to pure ecstasy, instantly, like that before. Full pitch invasion stuff. Whoever we meet at Wembley, it'll be tough, but it'll be a great day out, and who knows? We might even join you up there in the stratosphere ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:13, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Well, haha, I haven't been to the new Wembley yet, so at least it'll be a new experience if nothing else. I saw them lose a play-off final at the old Wembley, and the Millennium Stadium... let's hope there's no trio of disasters! We'll treat it as a day out and take it from there! Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:17, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I agree it will probably be close. Their 2–1 win over us was with a 95th minute goal from one of our old players. I'd prefer that not to be repeated at Wembley! If we take our chances we should beat them, but that's a big "if"! Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:25, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
Now that would be acceptable! Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:45, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Oh man

That was hard. Hard to watch, hard to take. A hard way for a great season to end. It was like a coin toss at the end. Both teams were out on their feet and I've probably never seen a more even game. After missing the last pen, Dagnall stood there for minutes, on the penalty spot. Felt really bad for him. It's going to be hard keeping the squad together if Barry Hearn doesn't get his wallet out. Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:22, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

And a special note for Mathieu Baudry, who after the match, went to the pub where the Orient fans were drinking, to apologise to them for missing his penalty. You don't see that in the Premier League. Bretonbanquet (talk) 12:52, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

Clarification on numbers as apposed to words (Checo Perez page fix)

You recently made an edit on the Sergio Perez page in which you changed "10th" to "Tenth" in the Force India section. My question is in regards to which form is correct? On the (same) page there are multiple occasions in which both numerals and wording are being used to describe placements. Would it be advisable to fix this for the entire page content much like you have done to my edit? *JoeTri10_ 15:29, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

Ah I see!. Ok I will keep that in mind. Many Thanks *JoeTri10_ 15:48, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

I hope

I hope you're pleased with Orient for humiliating your grubby rivals Aston Villa! We've got Wolves fans all over the place basking in Villa's disgrace ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:22, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

The League Cup is pretty small beer really, I guess. I bet you wouldn't swap any of your nine points to still be in it! Third round, well, this is Orient we're talking about – beating a Premier League side away from home is nothing compared to a middling League One team at home! Haha, I think we might struggle. First ever win at Villa on Wednesday and first ever defeat to Fleetwood on Saturday? Wouldn't bet against it! Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:25, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
We've actually gained some consolation from looking at Wolves' start to last season! A shaky start doesn't condemn a club to a poor season, as you proved. We've only lost one and there's a very long way to go of course. We lost to Chesterfield, a promoted club, so we're hoping not to repeat that against Fleetwood. We only fielded 5 first-choice players against Villa, so I hope the manager has learned a thing or two! Bretonbanquet (talk) 20:47, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
Hahaha, Celtic haven't covered themselves with glory lately. Orient have never been able to rotate players before so it's all new to us! Let's see what Saturday brings... ! Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:06, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
Germany Schmermany! Scotland will do an Orient and win 1–0. Yes! There'd better be cheesy headlines about Orient battering the cod army come Sunday! Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:25, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
And then we can say that Scotland are better than Brazil! Bretonbanquet (talk) 12:01, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
