Information icon Hello, I'm Ruy. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Ruy (talk) 03:09, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for that. I figured out that I used the wrong open screen to work on the Tageos article. Instead of my Sandbox, I was writing in my User page. So starting over in Sandbox page today and hoping for the best. I do find the directions to be quite confusing and sometimes contradictory. Crystallake69 (talk) 22:42, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your user page may not meet Wikipedia's user page guidelines. It is intended for basic information about yourself, your interests and goals as they relate to editing Wikipedia, as well as disclosures of conflicts of interest and paid editing. Although a lot of freedom is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not:

The user page guidelines have additional information on what is and what is not considered acceptable content. Please use your user sandbox or the draft article space to practice editing or to create new articles. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 03:30, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making test edits in Wikipedia pages, such as those you made to Wikipedia:Teahouse, even if you intend to fix them later. Your edits have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use your sandbox. Thank you. WPscatter t/c 22:45, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I explained that I used the wrong open pages hence the content being input into my main user page. Please be patient with new users! Crystallake69 (talk) 02:23, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest and paid editing

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Crystallake69. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:41, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Crystallake69, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Crystallake69|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 16:52, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see there is a template for the employer but don't see any format provided for details e.g. freelance tech writer paid on a upon project completion. Do I just enter details as written above?

{{paid|Tageos}}.

{{paid|employer=name of employer|client=name of client}}. Crystallake69 (talk) 17:29, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This wasn't done properly. Please correct. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:41, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly be specific...I'm new to this. Crystallake69 (talk) 16:07, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like someone fixed it in the meantime. No worries. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:09, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Questions about formatting

[edit]

Hello, I saw that you had some questions about how to save sandbox drafts, changing fonts, and paragraph spacing that you posted through the Visual Editor Feedback button. Unfortunately, English Visual Editor currently sends feedback to an unmonitored page, which is an issue that I am attempting to get resolved. (I have tested the Visual Editor on Wikipédia français, and this problem does not happen).

If you would like to send Visual Editor feedback to WikiMedia Foundation employees or even expert volunteers, I suggest starting a topic (or multiple, one per issue) on the official Visual Editor Feedback page. However, I will also attempt to answer some of your questions:

I haven't used the draft functionality in a while, but after you click "Publish changes" in Visual Editor while editing your sandbox, your changes should be automatically saved to your sandbox without changing the "draft" status or publishing the draft (confusing, yes).
Wikipedia doesn't exactly have different fonts, with only Bold, Italic, and Heading versions of the standard typeface available. Refer to the article on Microsoft for a good (B-class) example on how these formatting options are used.
Adjusting space between paragraphs can be done by pressing "Enter" multiple times, although this is usually discouraged since Wikipedia's style calls for a single space between paragraphs. This is done automatically by pressing Enter once in Visual Editor.

Wikipedia is generally a site that takes a plain-text approach to formatting, so many of the tools you may be familiar with are probably not present. If you have any general editing questions, the Teahouse could be a good source for answers. TROPtastic (talk) 03:47, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much! I was afraid I would just get criticism and not much help after letting folks see my draft, but you restored my faith! Crystallake69 (talk) 16:44, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, glad I was helpful! TROPtastic (talk) 20:53, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
May I ask one more question as I"m a real amateur on this forum: I read somewhere that it can take up to 6 months for a submitted draft to be reviewed by the Editorial Board before it can be published and accessed by interested parties? Is that true?
Thank you! Crystallake69 (talk) 19:34, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... I've tried in vain to get clear instructions on how to add a popup to reference links on my sandbox article. Should I leave that to more advanced users or can someone help me here? Thanks! Crystallake69 (talk) 21:07, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by 'popup to reference links', can you point to an article which has what you are looking for? - RichT|C|E-Mail 21:12, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for responding. Yes, HP's page Hewlett-Packard. And the naming convention was another obstacle for me, NavPop, Preview, etc etc. Crystallake69 (talk) 16:37, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
