Hi, your bot, CorenSearchBot left me a template regarding Allston Street (MBTA station). I used a standard format for creating subway station Articles which may be where the confusion is coming from. This article is extreamly simmilar to Griggs Street/Long Avenue (MBTA station) (another article which I created) but it is not a word for word copy. I do not believe I did anything wrong but if I did please let me know.--Found5dollar (talk) 23:49, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

I hope this isn't inappropriate. I fear some of the evidence may have gone ignored by those who have already voted, so I urge you to read the evidence discussion page and perhaps also a couple of the talk pages from the relevant period before you vote. Hi - I've been trying to post an article about my career - Im a singer, and I have written the text on my website, so I used this text but it was automatically taken off - I'm trying to ask when will it be left on - I don't really have the time to be searching and reading many articles on Wiki and every page has another page then another page to read.

How do I go about posting an article without it being taken off

G'day Coren

A gigantic boob, the Grand Teton

Hope you're well - I just noticed the arbcom statement about sam, and dropped a note into the talk page about it - I mentioned you by name, I'm afraid, and sort of once again mentioned that I thought you were behaving like a gigantic boob in opposing a sensible, albeit not-really-getting-the-job-done-as-quickly-and-easily-as-you-could type statement. I'm sure you'll take solace from the fact that although this is indeed my heartfelt opinion, I also quite like the phrase 'gigantic boob' and don't need much encouragement to use it :-) cheers, Privatemusings (talk) 05:15, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Your obsession with lactating glands is well known, really.  :-) I'm sorry if my refusal to start burning crosses and hang a noose doesn't satisfy your thirst for blood, but I will never act "decisively" just for the sake of doing something.

I act according to what I feel is just, to the best of my abilities— never according to what I think people want to see. I'm certain we'd get cheers from the peanut gallery if we tarred and feathered Sam — if only because of schadenfreude — but that wouldn't make it any more fair. — Coren (talk) 13:22, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure you lactate, Coren - and I'll refrain from making a childish pun on 'sucking'. Anywhoo.. I probably should note that I posted this note before your statement was public, but either ways, I'm surprised to see you compare your colleagues' actions to 'burning crosses and hang a noose' - that strikes me as unhelpful and hyperbolic - the actions of a boob. Privatemusings (talk) 00:38, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Ah, yes, hyperbole indeed. I would have expected you to recognize the rhetorical technique, given that you are one of its most fervent users. At any rate, and contrary to popular perception, the committee does not unfailingly speak in a single voice — accusations of cabalism notwithstanding — and I disagreed with the committee's choice of word in that statement feeling that it was unduly harsh. There is something to be said about the good of the committee, but I felt that in this case we were distancing ourselves too much from a former colleague despite his recently discovered failings. — Coren (talk) 02:13, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
are we wiki-sparring, Coren? I sort of feel like we are, except you're all squishy.. you know.. like a boob ;-) - I don't really consider myself one given to hyperbole, but perhaps you could give me an example of what you mean - otherwise I'm afraid to me that sort of comes across as 'no you are' (a tried and tested riposte, to be sure!) - I'm certainly not criticising you for speaking your mind (more power to you!), I'm criticising your failure to support a sensible step forward, and also what you then said. You felt the statement was 'unduly harsh' - and you also described your actions as a "refusal to start burning crosses and hang a noose" - your inability to maintain a sense of balance, and your ability to vaguely obfuscate, conflate and confuse courtesy and responsibility are what, in my view, give you a boobish hue. Privatemusings (talk) 02:39, 25 May 2009 (UTC)it's to your credit, of course, that you're prepared to chat about this, though perhaps we've covered enough ground now... last word to you if you'd like it.... :-)
It may not be your reason for choosing to act that way, but perhaps you won't mind if I mention that that was what I (for one) wanted to see. At least, not knowing much about the situation, I find your statement calm, balanced and forward-looking. We don't punish, right? Coppertwig (talk) 16:18, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
It's probably worth nothing noting that I also don't go out of my way to avoid doing things some may agree with. I think it'd be difficult to have any position that everyone would agree with, or disagree with. — Coren (talk) 16:27, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
(Note Much Ado About Nothing#Noting). Well, it might be possible to find a position everyone would disagree with. Coppertwig (talk) 16:31, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Bleh. — Coren (talk) 16:34, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

(←) In my very humble opinion, your statement demonstrates that you've turned out to be an commendably considerate and prudent arbitrator. Markedly well done. — Aitias // discussion 17:00, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Macedonia 2

Hello Coren. A few words regarding your support for proposed remedies against me, in the Macedonia 2 case.

First of all, the SPA accusation is untrue. Rlevse wrote "SQRT5P1D2 is a Macedonia-focused single-purposed account", that "has been almost entirely been focused on editing a handful of Macedonia-related articles". As showed here, the vast majority of my article edits are not Macedonia-related. You can verify that yourself.

As for "meatpuppetry", you wrote that I brought "nationalistic supporters in order to subvert and destroy the editorial process", which is also not true. I'm not aware if you read all the facts. Anyway, one neutral public message, isn't "canvassing". Not to mention that in the same message, I condemn nationalism (I requested "no sarissas, the referee will show you a red card"; that means "be rational and leave nationalism outside of the field", as sarissas were weapons that ancient Macedonians took pride in). I also wrote that ChrisO's actions were not made "according to the regulations on neutrality and naming by using credible sources, such as academic ones". I condemned nationalism and asked for conformance to the regulations on neutrality, thus the accusations are unjustifiable.

In addition, as you can read in my response to Horologium, Wikipedia is not isolated from the rest of the Internet. Various blogs and forums reported about ChrisO's actions. Many added their nationalistic overtones, like "Macedonia is ours" and asked for support. Even TV stations reported about it! Is ChrisO the one to blame? Nobody is responsible for what others do and I certainly have nothing to do with what others may did.

If you have the time and want to examine the facts more closely, please do. Should you have any questions, please leave me a message. SQRT5P1D2 (talk) 16:05, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

About Lost in Blue (game)

There is a BAND called Lost in Blue, they've been around at least 5 years longer than the video game. Since "Lost in Blue" goes straight to the game, I made "Lost in Blue (game)" and copied all the info from the original site to there.

After that, I changed the "Lost in Blue" site to a redirect with links to the band and the game, but all these random bots or people deleted my entries and reverted everything back to the way it was, even though I didn't do anything wrong! Renaming the articles

Hi,

I now edited the Tour section of Deep Purple, added full infos about Purple's 2 tours... I wanted to rename Rapture of the Deep Tour and name it Rapture of the Deep World Tour, as well as I wanted to rename In Rock Tour --->> In Rock World Tour. I didn't know how to rename the articles, thus I created new article In Rock World Tour, and copied/pasted content from In Rock Tour...

Why to rename??? Deep Purple has done tens of tours for 40 years of their career. some of them were particular tours (e.g Deep Purple European Tour, or Deep Purple Mexican Tour 1994 (which included only 3 shows and came up as the warm-up tour for the new guitarist Steve Morse).... this was what I wanted to say about particular/special tours. BUT everytime Deep Purple releases a new album, they go on a WORLD TOUR. e.g In Rock World Tour, Rapture of the Deep World Tour. This is why I wanted to rename those articles, please delete the previous articles called just Rapture of the Deep Tour... As you know, there's a difference between ordinary/special/particular tour and world tour...

Thanks for understanding :) btw, you can view the article AC/DC's Black Ice World Tour, it's called WORLD TOUR as well.

Re [2]. I'm puzzled as to how you can say "there is no suggestion that he has not acted as an arbitrator with diligence and neutrality during his tenure". I think it is entirely obvious that his votes during Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Geogre-William_M._Connolley were not neutral, and indeed invalid. I invite your further comment William M. Connolley (talk) 19:13, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually, an (admittedly cursory) inspection shows that he's voted both slightly in a direction consistent with his previous identity's spats and slightly in directions opposite them depending on the case. Given than none of his votes have been pivotal in any of the decisions, and that they are not egregiously biased, I'm willing to extend to him the same presumption that I hope everyone gives to all arbitrators: that we are all doing our best to be objective, neutral and fair.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have recused, but I also don't think he has displayed any significant bias nor campaigned "behind the scenes" to affect decisions any more than you would expect from each of us.

The short of it: I think he has simply honestly and sincerely attempted to turn over a leaf, but ended up doing it the wrong way. — Coren (talk) 21:11, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I am unable to agree with you. Indeed your response, in my opinion, calls into severe doubt your suitability as an arbitrator. You should be able to immeadiately see and clearly state that arbitration in a case with someone against whom you have started an RFC is obviously unacceptable, especially when you are doing so with that connection hidden. Your response, inevitably, strengthens the view that arbcomm is a club that will be gentle on its own William M. Connolley (talk) 21:30, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Err, it is obviously unacceptable. I'm not entirely certain why you seem to be under the impression that I've stated otherwise at any time. Or have you not noticed that, as a direct consequence, Sam no longer has a seat on the committee? — Coren (talk) 02:07, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
oh dear... it's lines like this 'I think he has simply honestly and sincerely attempted to turn over a leaf, but ended up doing it the wrong way.' that I believe william refers to as a 'response [which] , in my opinion, calls into severe doubt your suitability as an arbitrator'. I think the response is entirely consistent with my diagnosis of gigantic boob-dom (see a couple of threads up) - now whether or not that makes you unsuitable, or a good fit, for the arbcom rather depends on one's perspective.... Privatemusings (talk) 02:34, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
I agree. Cool Hand Luke 18:35, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't understand how there is no suggestion that he has not acted as an arbitrator with diligence and neutrality during his tenure is compatible with it being obvious that he shouldn't have participated in certain cases William M. Connolley (talk) 11:25, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps an (imperfect) analogy would explain better. Say you have a surgeon who, while otherwise very skilled and with an excellent track record, was found to have the bad habit of sneaking his lunch in the OR. It's dangerous, he shouldn't have done that, whether somebody got hurt as a direct consequence or not. Obviously, that was unacceptable and he's going to be canned over this — but that does not suddenly "undo" the things he did right or what skills he might have as a surgeon; he doesn't retroactively becomes incompetent. — Coren (talk) 12:00, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
(Perhaps a better way of describing our surgeon here would be "There is no indication he did not sincerely and honestly have his patient's health at heart despite having shown poor judgment in the matter"). — Coren (talk) 12:05, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Your analogy is badly incomplete. A better one would be: you are going for a life-threatening procedure, with an unknown death rate, such that the surgeon will not be blamed should you die. Unbeknownst to you, the surgeon has a violent dislike of you. If you did know, would you do your best to chose a different surgeon? Your wriggling here is becoming undignified. I think you should simply admit your error William M. Connolley (talk) 18:23, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
You're ascribing malice where I see only bad judgment. You are welcome to disagree and call my reasoning an "error", but your qualifications of wriggling imply that I'm attempting to step away from a position I no longer hold, which is not the case. If you truly believe that disagreeing with your evaluation of the situation makes me unsuitable as an arbitrator, that is also your prerogative — and you'll be able to express it next time I stand for election.

But if you are expecting me to trample over my ethics by withdrawing a statement I believe correct or by making one that goes against my principles in order to please you (or, for that matter, anyone else) then you will be disappointed. For that matter, I'm not much for the common "let's not commit to anything so nobody gets offended" method either. — Coren (talk) 18:45, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Rejecting "Locus of dispute" as written

In the "Tang Dynasty" ArbCom case, the "locus of dispute" factfinding should be rejected as written.

A new, better locus of dispute should be adduced.

I write to encourage you to consider this when you vote, because the first and last sentences are fundamentally flawed.

NO to 1st sentence. The case originated when Teeninvestor rejected any and all inquiry relating to WP:V, WP:Burden and WP:RSUE, alleging vandalism and disruptive editing instead. This persistent confrontational strategy is endorsed and encouraged by those voting in support Newyorkbrad's locus of dispute. These votes effectively disregard Tenmei's locus, Teeninvestor's locus and, most importantly, Teeninvestor's restatment at Summarizing "more or less the entire dispute". This obfuscation marginalizes even the attempt to pursue a strategy of collaborative editing; and for this very practical reason, I could not disagree more with this sentence

NO to 3rd sentence. In the specific context of this case, it is procedurally unsound to adopt the expanded scope proposed by Teeninvestor and Caspian blue. One of the few areas of agreement acknowledged the initially limited focus of our case when it was opened. I could not disagree more with this sentence.

In support, I highlight a crucial fulcrum or pivot between "A" and "B" below:

"We appear to confront a small scale replica of what has occurred in other, wider disputes ... informed by a four-prong examination at each and every point of this escalating drama:
  • 1. "What is the quality of the sources used by both sides in the dispute?
  • 2. "What is the consensus of scholars in the field; and does the source reflect that consensus?
  • 3. "Are the sources actually supporting the assertions for which they are cited?
  • 4. "Are unsourced assertions being used?
"As others will know better than me, these four points are, unsurprisingly, at the center of most protracted disputes and are all violations of our core content policies, e.g., verifiability, no original research and neutrality."
"This guy is out of control, man." [emphasis added]

In this instance, Tenmei's paraphrase of Coren's moderating analysis was posted on the talk pages of all arguably interested participants at Talk:Inner Asia during the Tang Dynasty. The "out of control" accusatory phrasing was repeated in diffs on the talk pages of PericlesofAthens and Arilang1234. This suggests a deliberate strategy rather than a merely transient outburst.

In these pivotal diffs, Teeninvestor cannot feign to have misunderstood my writing. These are plainly Coren's paraphrased words; and yet, this modest effort to frame collaborative editing issues was immediately converted into a contrived hostile encounter. This destructive pattern is reflected ad nauseam on the evidence and workshop pages. Despite the cumulative attacks, the edit history confirms my participation focused on issues, but this outcome tells me clearly that I was wrong to take the high road.

In voting to support this awkward "spin", ArbCom's counter-intuitive judgment effectively affirms that the contributions of Teeninvestor and Caspian blue were above reproach and I was not.

This alchemy is difficult to digest. ArbCom rewards what is bad and denigrates what is good. --Tenmei (talk) 19:27, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Szalonna (bacon)

Hi. I got a bot tag re Szalonna (bacon) and Szalonna. FYI, I was in the midst of splitting the content of Szalonna, which now is a disambiguation page. --Una Smith (talk) 01:26, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Corensearchbot re BCGNIS material

Historical quotes in BCGNIS are not copyright and are in the public domain. In the case of Jarvis Pass, passages quoted were from American Alpine Journal and a bulletin of Natural Resources Canada, and duly cited (NRC materials are also in the public domain). Please "advise" your bot that quotations from BCGNIS are not in its turf, they are all public domain and, again, typically include citations themselves.Skookum1 (talk) 03:08, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Chhina clan

I have seperated Chhina clan from the geographical area of the same name. The existing article started off by describing the area the geographical area, and then refers to the clan. I have created a seperate article for the clan, to prevent the confussion.
