Missed deletion?
I happened across Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Fujifilm FinePix cameras the other day, and I noticed that at the bottom of the nomination, there was a second page listed (beyond the list of FinePix cameras) List of Fujifilm products that wasn't deleted. Was that the intended outcome? Let me know if there's any cleanup that a regular user can do. --GargoyleMT 12:38, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

If we work closely together we can keep the page advert free, I am willing to help keep an eye and remove ads that users put up. there are more than enough good references now on the internet to put some info and a good page together.

List of schools in India
I am considering listing the AfD for List of schools in India at DRV. Although this is usually for process issues (and there was noting out of process) the result is problematic. The List of Schools article now has India as a redlink, but Canada and others are not. This is a case where WP:ALLORNOTHING is exposed as nonsense. How can the list for one country be notable, while another is not? Breaking Laces
Hi, I would like you to reconsider your decision to pull the Breaking Laces wikipedia page. In the discussion page of the deletion review page, I listed 5 criteria that we meet for notability. The rules say we should meet at least one of those criteria. If you feel that is not good enough, please let me know that you would at least change the criteria requirement, or let me know how many of the criteria *we* need to meet. YATE deletion
Hi, I noted that you deleted the YATE page. Your rationale was "The result was delete, especially given the campaign the people involved have been running to get the article kept. Wikipedia is not where things go to become notable. --Coredesat 05:40, 4 August 2007".
I believe you have overlooked the reason that the page was nominated for deletion (notability) and my response to that.
I did not see either the original nominator Calltech or anyone subsequent address the fact that a publishing coproration like O'Reilly is a large secondary source and that the notability guidelines state that for smaller projects it is unreasonable to expect many secondary sources.

Corey Smith
I find it troubling that the page for Corey Smith (Musician) has been deleted so many times. He is a very well established musician in the southeastern United States and is gaining notoriety throughout many of the rest of the lower 48 states. He has released 3 studio albums and has played countless concerts, many with crowds nearing 10,000. These distinguishing facts rival the reputations of many other personalities that have been allowed to say on Wikipedia. Should a notable personality be banned from biographical and factual recognition just because he hasn't signed with a major label yet? You may say that I am a hard core fan that just wants publicity for this artist but I am in fact not even a huge fan at all. I'm just trying to do what's right. Taking his article off of Wikipedia would be like removing articles depicting minor league baseball players or fresh Hollywood actors. While I understand that Wikipedia isn't a marketing or advertising tool, I think that notable personalities that are well known, even if only to a specific culture of people in a specific region (in this case about 7 states), should be recognised at least biographically. — kookamunga187

Hi, I see you deleted Vulcan when it should have simply became a redirect. As Wikipedia:Guide_to_deletion#Shorthands says: "Redirect is a recommendation to keep the article's history but to blank the content and replace it with a redirect. Username blocks
I saw your block of User:Badassbassist. I'd like to point you to WT:U, where there's a discussion going on about the fact that blocking is being used as a first resort for all questionable usernames, instead of a last resort or a quick way of doing with blatantly inappropriate usernames, as the policy says.
I think you should have made a request on the user's talk page, since "Badassbassist" in no way indicates that the user obviously meant to disrupt Wikipedia. If you want to defend the idea of blocking as a first resort, you should do so at WT:U. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 00:41, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Hermes in popular culture, AfD
This is not a request to move the article back into main space. During the AfD discussion, User:AndyJones requested that the material be userfied so that s/he could work with it for a different article. In good faith, and following consensus, you deleted the article; however, you did not userfy it and did not give a reason for not doing so. I just wanted to ask why the article was not userfied, as I thought that articles at AfD which are not copyvios or BLP vios are generally userfied by the closing admin if somebody requests it (if this is wrong, please do let me know!) Please do not take this message as disagreement with the decision to delete. I voted to delete the article and my mind still has not changed. I just wondered why you denied User:AndyJones's request. Oh, and I've been todl in the past that I can be blunt in user comments in these cases. Closure of AfD for Historical persecution by Christians
This article's discussion seems to have been closed prematurely or that it should have been deleted. It seems to me that there was not a clear consensus, the arguments for deletion seemed to carry greater weight and the fact that the other articles, Historical Persecution by Jews and Historical Persecution by Muslims, were deleted seems to militate against a premature closing (esp. non-admin). It would seem that if these types of articles are proper they all would stay and if not they all would be deleted. I think a review of the decision not to delete would be proper. I have not done a deletion review myself and wondered what your thoughts were.Mamalujo 23:36, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Re: Image uploads
No, uploading images on top of other images is very very bad and should be avoided. Many times the image displays the old one in the dimensions of the new one or the image won't display at all. Good kitty 02:13, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Moving Milena velba to correct capitalization
This article was created with an incorrect capitalization, presumably to get around the protection of Milena Velba, the correct spelling. Looking around, it seems an unreferenced version of the article was deleted at the start of the year, and several attempted recreations were deleted as "recreation of deleted content". After thinking about it, I think a professor at a respected university claiming the world's largest anything is sufficiently notable for an article. I came across this page today, and thought it should be deleted. I check the talk page, and find out I miss the discussion by less than a week. undeletion questions
I had a discussion recently about undeleting an article for which you were the closing admin.
I explained to the other wikipedian that, so far as I understood things, the undeletion discussion are supposed to be confined solely to whether the procedure by which the article was deleted complied with policy -- that it is not supposed to contain discussion of the pros and cons of deleting the article.
Have I got that right?
I don't remember asking you about this deletion before, or having any previous contact with you. My apologies if we have had contact that I don't remember.
I told my correspondent some of my concerns about the nominator's conduct, which I thought justified reconsidering its deletion.
I also told them of some aspects of your decision that were open to question.
In particular, a perceived POV is not ground for deletion. And you did not choose to address the nominator's highly disruptive edits to the article.
Of course if you have good answers to my concerns I will forget about deletion review.
It is possible that my memory of how reliable and valid the references I supplied, and which the nominator deleted without meaningful discussion, were not as valid and reliable as I remember.
Would it be possible for you to restore a snapshot of my last revision to the article, prior to the nominator's unexplained and highly damaging edits? (restore it to my user space is what I meant to say...)
The article did contain some crap, and some poorly doucmented assertions. My possibly unrelaible recollection is that I had done enough work on the article that if everything but my contributions was removed the article would be most or all of the way to a viable stub.

- You left me a single brief response.
- I thought I cited a passage from policy that I thought refuted your interpretation of deletion policy regarding POV.
- I don't know you. I didn't remember us having prior interactions, until I checked. I don't know if we have had any others.
- Having said that, let me make a general observation. IMO an important quality that is lacking in the world out there, and which the wikipedia could do more of, is an open willingness to acknowledge fallibility and admit error. I admire those who can admit error. I try to do so myself, even when it is difficult, even when I could probably get away with not doing so.
- Are you absolutely sure you didn't make any errors around this {{afd}}? If you did I would really appreciate you being open about it.

It's cool about the "Category 4" part on the new image, but the reason I added it was more than likely at the 2am advisory, Dean will be a Cat 5. So, the image will have been of a Cat 4 Dean. I posted the following question on the review page: Question, The process document does not provide us with any guidelines as to where/what/when you needed to have references. In the challenge I said I could provide numerous references. Do you want them now? How many? What types? Where should I deliver them to the reviewers? We can provide references from academics, corporations, professional societies, notable experts, etc. Google has 20,000 references to our organization from sources all around the world. Most of the hits are referencing original articles that have contributed to the knowledge-base of the user assistance community. Over 800 hits reference survey results alone. Most of the hits referencing the annual conference are not advertising - rather they are describing industry news and insights that came out of the technical sessions. Approximately 40-50 industry experts speak at the event each year. With respect to the authority of referencing entities, I would assume the size of the pond should not be as important as an organization's relative size in that pond. User assistance is a relatively small part of the overall IT industry. It does not regularly receive notices on large, mainstream web sites. But it is vital and vibrant. The numerous organizations and individuals that reference WritersUA may not be well known in the mainstream but they are certainly well=respected within our community. - I do not understand why you have deleted the above article. I strongly dissent and request arbitration. The new article is not disruptive as you claim, nor is it inaccurate. I have not changed the title of the article List of California hurricanes that was previously in contention. The added article adds content which is accurate and referenced and which could not be included in the list of hurricanes article. I strongly object to your own POV reasoning, and I find that it is itself disruptive and out of conformity with Wiki standards. You have no right to delete a new article offered in good faith, with no substantive grounds stated for the deletion. Your threats are also offensive and I request a review of that behavior as well. I would like to discuss the speedy deletion of my entry Gwendolyn Zepeda for CSD A7 I want to repost entry but would like to see if I can convince you of it's notability or see if you could identify some other information that I could include. I believe that her relationship as a published author of Arte Publico Press and their Houston connection is a good basis for inclusion. In my article I describe her as a 'latina author and blogger' which may not sound notable anymore but it certainly was in 1997. Please advice and thank you.

Why You Deleted Harbor Springs High School
I want to know why you deleted my page "Harbor Springs High School". Harbor Springs is a small town and no one has made a page recording in history the school. this was a factual and historical account of the school and you have deleted it after i worked for two hours on it. You've seriously made me dislike wikipedia so much. I thought that it was a free encyclopedia that if someone knew something about a subject they could post it without worrying about some hurricane expert deleting a subject he knows absolutely nothing about. Continuation on Notability of Entry for author Gwendolyn Zepeda
Gwendolyn Zepeda is a published author most notably. I feel the blog aspect is significant simply because of the timeline. If you look at Wikipedia's own entry on Blog, you will see that Gwendolyn was right at the start of the phenomenon. She publishes her own online diary one year before the term 'blog' is created. If you look at the fact that she was also the voice of a Hispanic woman, this is important from a historical perspective.
Let's move beyond the blogger aspect and look at guidelines on notability as you indicated and see if some of the guidelines apply. Consider The person has been the subject of published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject.

Speedy Deletion: Freedoms Watch
Hi! Noticed that you speedily deleted the article I just posted - Freedoms Watch - for lack of notability. I'd respectfully disagree with the idea that the organization isn't notable, particularly because of the combination of its message and its stated supporters. It appears to be positioning itself to be a major (or at least loud) voice in the controversial War in Iraq.
Given that, was the article deleted because it failed to assert its own notability, or because the organization itself is deemed non-noteworthy? Sorry to bother you; despite the age of my username, I'm pretty new to article creation. Thanks! Flynns32547 08:49, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

- A bit more research finds that a couple bloggers have picked up on the organization, and a couple newswires have published the organization's press release verbatim. More significantly (I think), the Washington Post writes about this organization in an article published yesterday, and correlates the organization's message, fund-raising efforts, and timing with General Petraeus' progress report regarding the troop surge, and suggests that it's a concerted effort to change American popular opinion. (see: washington post article)

maybe the wording is too discrete, I am not a politician. However, Having spent more than a decade at the very top of European toy industry, participating in EU standardisations for toys and chairing the Nordic toy association + managing the 2 of the 3 largest toy companies in the Nordic region as well as stock exchange listed companies in Germany - I would have thought that kind of profile would be suitable for Wikipedia? looking at a number of other profiles in this great encyclopedia, I fail to understand the reason for deletion. As mentioned I have been specifically asked to make an entry since an accident forced me to retire 3 years ago, and I now do board work only.

Chartered Institution of Marketing
Hi there, I understand that you deleted the above article and I am a little puzzled. The CIM is a very big and world renound organisation for Marketing. It educates all UK professionals in the UK in marketing subjects and is clearly a notable educational institute. I also seem to remember the article was quite large and comprehensive so I am also bemused as to why you deleted it. Granted I think by looking at the original people from the organisation had clearly added some spin which should have been removed but it could certainly be granted notability on a number of different issues and should not have been speedily deleted. --Alex 09:26, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

StreetCred deletion
Hi Wil, How are you? I know you get comments like this ALL the time, but hopefully you can give me some information on my StreetCred entry. You deleted my entry this morning with your reasoning being that you saw no assertion of notability. I was making adjustments to the page to ensure that it met Wikipedia's policies and thought I would have time to do that by placing the {{hangon}} tag, but to no avail.
I also thought I was actually making good progress, especially when following the template of some other similar entries (myspace, facebook), although I wasn't quite finished yet.
If you give me an opportunity to continue to edit the entry so that it meets the site's criteria, that would be awesome. Also, if you have any advice for me that will help it specifically meet your criticism of 'no assertion of notability' I would greatly appreciate that as well. I apologize, but I'm a new member.

Wil, Thanks for your feedback. I have one favor to ask of you. Are you able to give me access to the entry that I had originally submitted. I was unable to save it and I want to make sure I don't repeat the same mistakes upon my re-draft. Plus it would be a great help not to have to start from scratch.

In you rush to improve wikipedia, you accidentally deleted an article i had recently created and not yet improved upon (Apple Pie (band)). Following your previous speedy delete with the claim that notability was not asserted, i made sure to assert notability on the recreation of the article. Yet, after coming back to wikipedia again to work on the article i find in your desperation to improve wikipedia you accidentally ignored procedure and deleted the article despite it asserting notability and without an AfD.
