Some cookies to welcome you! :D

Welcome to Wikipedia, Contributor777! I am Chemistrygeek and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. License tagging for Image:914715 27693 front.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:914715 27693 front.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 09:15, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your image uploads

[edit]

Hi Contributor777, thank you for your contributions. However, there are problems with the images you have uploaded to Wikipedia. You cannot release book covers and images from comics into the public domain. They are copyrighted images and must be tagged as such. If they are not, these images are copyright violations that must be deleted. Each copyrighted image you have uploaded needs the following:

I have fixed a few of the book covers (Image:Megbook.jpg, Image:Altentrench.jpg) that you have uploaded to show how this should be done. Please go through the other images you have uploaded and add the required information, or the images will be nominated for deletion. Please feel free to contact me on my talk page if I can help you with this. Regards, Bláthnaid 19:51, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of your image uploads and fixes needed

[edit]

Thanks again for getting in touch via email. I'll repeat my note from our email exchange, just to keep our discussion in one place :-)

I understand that Wikipedia's image policy can be very confusing, but it is important that copyright images are correctly labelled. Please do not upload any other images of book covers, DVD covers, or comic characters as public domain images. On Wikipedia, this is a copyright violation and a blockable offence. The only images that you can release into the public domain are photographs that you have personally taken or drawings that you have made.

I will list the images that you have uploaded on your Wikipedia talk page, and tell you what each image needs, so you know exactly what each image needs. If the images are not fixed, they will have to be deleted soon.

I have removed the {{PD-self}} notice from your images, as they cannot be released into the public domain. Here are some of the problematic images, and what they need to be acceptable on Wikipedia. Please go through them and add what is needed.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Meg4big.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Meg4big.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:48, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Follow up from email

[edit]

Thanks again for editing the images you want to try and keep :-)

Image:386528-133651-ebony-white large.jpg. Image:103228-4211-grace large.jpg, Image:Jackbrowndvd.JPG Image:APLogo.jpg, Image:Aspen MTL.jpg Image:APLogo.jpg, Image:Fathom aspen poster-1.jpg are all perfect now. Thank you for helping to fix them.

If you want to keep Image:SPIRIT1.jpg and Image:Meg4big.gif, you need to put them into a suitable article as soon as you can. Copyrighted images have do be in at least one article.

As I said in my email to you, the discussion about the Perhapanauts articles is here, if you want to take part in it. If the articles are deleted, I'm afraid the images will have to be deleted too.

Finally, I have nominated Image:Jane campion.jpg, Image:Pt janecampion narrowweb 200x253.jpg, Image:PARTS ECRX-353-Coptic.jpg, Image:AinuCouple.jpg, Image:Minor6 b.jpg, Image:Minor5 b.jpg, Image:Minor9 b.jpg, Image:Minor8 b.jpg for deletion.

Phew, that's everything :-) Please let me know if I can be of anymore help in the future. Bláthnaid 19:57, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A further note about images

[edit]

You really, really need to read through Help:Image page, particularly with regards to copyright and fair use rationale. Everything you've been uploading is copyrighted stuff, and yet it's all been uploaded with "public domain" copyright tags, which are grossly inappropriate. People have reached out to you multiple times--as recently as yesterday--about your image uploads. And yet today, after your conversation with Blathnaid, you uploaded Image:Boney.jpg and Image:AphroditeIX.jpg, which share the exact same problems as your earlier uploads.

You also consistently upload enormous images and should take a second to read our guidelines about size and resolution of non-free comic book images.

Given my own proclivities, I really appreciate your taking the time to upload comics-related images, but you need to get a handle on how to properly do image uploads, or else people are just going to start deleting these images, and you'll have wasted your time. Why not take a little while to figure out how to do them right so they'll last and won't create work for other people? Cheers. Ford MF (talk) 14:18, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spirit (comics)

[edit]

I have to ask, seeing that now two editors have now reverted your undiscussed image change, to please not remove the SHB image at Spirit (comics). We work via consensus here on Wikipedia, and discuss major changes on article talk pages. As I gather from some of the posts above, this may simply be a matter of having the time to read through some of the policies, both of Wiki in general and the Comics Project in particular. Thanks for understanding, and happy Wiki'ing. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:35, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, which wasn't included with your recent edit to Matthew (DC Comics). Thank you.

Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Matthew (DC Comics), as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. --Oneiros (talk) 11:23, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh. It's a year later and you haven't learned.--Oneiros (talk) 21:50, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You know, I was going to make the same reminder before I realized you were a fairly experienced user. Is there any reason why you have such an aversion to edit summaries? Adding one makes it much easier on those of us who watch pages, especially those which are frequently vandalized or which can be contentious. Please, do it for us! --Midnightdreary (talk) 17:32, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comic images

[edit]

Image:Boney.jpg, Image:AphroditeIX.jpg, and Image:The Sandman Endless Nights 1600x1200.jpg have been tagged for deletion because you claimed that they were in the public domain. As I said above, you cannot claim that comic images are in the public domain because you are not the copyright holder. Claiming that the work is in the public domain is a copyright violation and may result in being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thank you for adding the sources, but the images also need:

  • A copyright tag. For comics this is {{non-free comic}}. Copy and paste {{non-free comic}} onto the images.
  • A fair-use rationale for each use of the item. Examples of rationales are here, or you can copy a rationale from your other images.

Please add these to the images as soon as possible. Regards, Bláthnaid 19:22, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of A Mother's Recompense (film)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article A Mother's Recompense (film), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. triwbe (talk) 17:49, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:AinuCouple.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AinuCouple.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:05, 21 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:Arcana.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Arcana.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Flag icons

[edit]

Hello and thank you for your editing here at wikipedia. Please be aware that per the guidelines at WP:FLAG we are no longer putting flags in the infoboxes on any pages. Your help in following this policy will be appreciated. Thank you for your time and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 22:51, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I concur with MarnetteD; we are not using flag icons in infoboxes, like you just did here. Please just link directly to the countries. Thanks, Erik (talkcontrib) - 22:49, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry for not replying earlier (I've been on holiday). If you want to get an image you uploaded deleted, copy and paste this:
{{Db-g7}}
onto the image's page, and an administrator will delete the image for you. If you want me to see if the images are suitable for Wikipedia before you upload them, you can post a link to website the image is on on my talk page or send me an email. Your new uploads look great, you just need to add a non-free use rationale to them. You can copy the rationale from this image. By the way, there is no need for you to apologize as you are doing good work :-) Bláthnaid 18:27, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The "language" of a film

[edit]

Please stop adding inappropriate language categories to films that feature a few words of that language. A tag has been placed on Cinema of Venezuela, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Hi. I've moved the two articles referenced above to your userspace. You can find them at User:Contributor777/Cinema of Bolivia and User:Contributor777/Cinema of Venezuela. While both of these were valid WP:CSD#A3 candidates, as each consisted only of a phrase and some templates, it seems that you may intend to develop them further, even though you had already left them and moved to other articles. If you do not intend to develop them further, please mark them {{db-u1}} to indicate that you are finished with them. Hi, Contributor777!! I just noticed that you added Ran to the List of Academy Award winners and nominees for Best Foreign Language Film. Hi. In order to have time to construct your new page, without getting a (speedy) delete nomination, consider using the Template:Underconstruction. Or first create a user sub-page, e.g. User:Contributor777/Buddhism in Israel to work on the page, and create the article when you are sufficiently satisfied with it. That is what I most often do. As reviewing administrator, I think the article didn't meet that criterion, so I did not delete it, but please be aware of our Business FAQ, which applies to everything with which a person is connected, not just businesses. Avoid language that sounds promotional, make sure you have 3rd party independent reliable published sources, print or online (but not blogs or press releases), and be a descriptive as possible about actual verifiable things or events. Speedy deletion of Mark Dornford-May

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Mark Dornford-May requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thanks for uploading Image:Fathom issue 1.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Flag Icons

You have been asked more than once to not add flag icons to infoboxes yet you continue to do so. Please stop making unnecessary extra work for others. You help in this will be appreciated. MarnetteD | Talk 18:54, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comic book creators

[edit]

I see you have made Category:Comic book creators and are adding it to comic writers and artists but I can't quite work out what it is for, because:

  • The creators are already in a much more specific category: like American comics writer.
  • We already have Category:Comics creators which is the parent category of the comics writers and comics artists categories.

So even if we did need that category we would try and avoid categorising people in it and move them off to more accurate categories (where it is clear a it isn't in some stubs, it is clear in those articles you've added to the category you made). Although I may be missing something. (Emperor (talk) 03:01, 15 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]

You've started adding this again and I still don't know why. We do need to resolve this first. (Emperor (talk) 22:58, 22 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]
It is worth noting that you shouldn't be adding people to Category:Comics creators unless it is unclear what their nationality/area is (which should be rare for articles that are notable) and, as you'll see in that category, all articles should be moved off to more specific categories. I have undo any additions you've made (that I found) and will be aiming to clear that category out, as much as possible so I'd ask you not keep trying to add the category back again. Speedy deletion of Forcewave

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Forcewave requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Speedy deletion of Portal:Neo-druidism

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Portal:Neo-druidism requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section P2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a portal based on a topic for which there is no non-stub header article, and there are not at least three non-stub articles detailing subject matter that would be appropriate to discuss under the title of that portal.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Portal:Neo-druidism|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. MBisanz talk 00:04, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://ebooks.ebookmall.com/ebook/109655-ebook.htm. As a copyright violation, Domain (novel) appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Domain (novel) and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Domain (novel) with a link to where we can find that note.

Jack Kirby

[edit]

Hey there. In case you weren't aware, I nominated Jack Kirby for "Good Article" despite some issues we knew it had; we figured we'd take a chance and see if we're able to fix it up on the go. The review has just started, and the reviewer has identified a number of trouble spots in need of work. We may not be able to fix it up enough to get it to GA at this time, but I think this would be a great opportunity to put some work into improving the article in general. See the reviewer's comments and fix anything you can, or just have a look at the article and work on anything you can identify yourself. Thanks, and thanks for what you've already done on this one. :) BOZ (talk) 23:22, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article The Children of the Pool and Other Stories, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

unable to establish notability via reliable sources w/ verifiable sources

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Romani people in Brazil, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.geocities.com/~patrin/brazil.htm, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), versions 1.3 or later then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Romani people in Brazil and send an email with confirmation of permission to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or that the material is released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Romani people in Brazil with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Romani people in Brazil.

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Romani people in Brazil saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:50, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also a concern, Alan Moore's Songbook. It has very little text in it, but what it has seems to be copied from [1]. Another Suburban Romance is copied almost verbatim from [2]. I've listed this two, as they need rewriting. Since there was other material on the page 30 Days of Night: Red Snow, I've just removed the plot description. I wonder from these if you are unaware that official synopses and advert blurbs may be governed by copyright and can't be used without verification of compatible licensing, just as with any other previously published text, unless handled in accordance with WP:NFC. While we might suspect that publishers and other advertisers are happy to have their material disseminated in this way, we can't presume that, particularly as our license allows commercial reuse and modification. Many companies that do allow reuse of press releases, for instance, do not allow modification or commercial reuse. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:58, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Other articles blanked pending revision or verification of permission include Eduardo Sánchez, Fountain Society, Niceland (Population. 1.000.002), Clive Barker: Visions of Heaven and Hell and Born (film). In each of these, the majority of the article is made up from text copied from other sources. Since there is little other text, you may wish to consider writing new versions in the temporary spaces listed at the front of each that do not contain this copied text. If you have questions about the process, please let me know. Meanwhile, although you were notified on May 14th of the potential of blocks if you continued to place copyrighted text on Wikipedia, I see that you did it again yesterday in The Children of the Pool and Other Stories. Please, if you do not understand our copyright policies, seek clarification. I would happy to explain if you need assistance. I will be watching your talk page for a time. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:35, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

←It seems as though you may have copied the article Native American cinema from another Wikipedia article, but since you didn't identify its origin (which would be a GFDL violation unless you were the only contributor of creative content), I can't be sure. In any case, the text was used prior to the establishment of that article in [3]. Unless it can be verified that this material was on Wikipedia prior to August of 2007, we have no choice but to assume it is a copyright violation. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:13, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly this is not acceptable. I ask that you remove all offending material or post a list of articles that you have added copyright material to. If you post anymore copyright material then you will be blocked. Enter CambridgeBayWeather, waits for audience applause, not a sausage 04:44, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When adding names to this list, please do not just copy the reference used for preceding names. An editor spent a long time looking for those sources, and if they are simply copied for authors that are not found in those sources, it makes them useless and a BLP violation.YobMod 08:38, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for your note. I am not surprised to hear that your infringement resulted from misunderstanding, but I do have to emphasize that you must not continue placing copied text on Wikipedia. Most of the time, other websites will not be usable in this way. I understand that you were just looking to contribute. From the majority of your edits, I can see that you have good intentions. But it's important to understand that Wikipedia requires that we write the text we add in our own words unless we can prove that the text is free for use (public domain or from another GFDL site) or unless we use little bits in quotation marks as the rules say at WP:NFC. Wikipedia is based in the United States, and it has to comply with US copyright law, or it can get into trouble. Let me know if you have any questions about this. As I said above, I would happy to explain if any of this is unclear. You can also ask me if at some point you want to add text and aren't sure if you can (I'm sure you might also find answers to that at the help desk). I would by no means want to see you blocked from editing over misunderstanding, but policy requires that we protect the project from this legal problem, so I do ask you to be careful with text you add from now on. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:28, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you certainly can, but rewriting is not always as easy as it sounds. You'll want to be careful to rewrite the material completely in your own words. If it follows too closely on the original source, it will still be a copyright infringement. It can still be a copyright infringement even if it doesn't use the original language, if it is in the same structure and includes the same information as the original. (For example, you couldn't take the sentence "Jessica's daughter is a beautiful girl, with skin like ivory and eyes like Caribbean waters on a sunny day" and rewrite it "Jessica's daughter is a lovely woman, with bone-white skin and eyes like the waters near the Caribbean islands when there are no clouds in the sky." If you're only substituting words that mean the same thing, in more or less the same order, you aren't revising enough. I'd be happy to help you if you have any questions about a particular paraphrase. (See Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing for a user essay on the matter.) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:39, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted to note that the first batch came due for processing today at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2009 May 21. Some of these were deleted, some were cleaned. This depended in part on how much non-infringing material remained and in part on whether or not what remained led to a conclusion of notability. The ones that were deleted can certainly be recreated with clean text. Please consider adding reliable sources to verify how they meet the various notability guides. If you want access to any of the infoboxes in deleted versions for new articles, please let me know, and I will be happy to retrieve them for you.
Again, I do ask you to be careful with writing your own versions to avoid further infringement. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:12, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Most of the copyright problems have been removed without needing to delete the articles into which they were placed. However, the entire text of Native American cinema seems to have come from [4]. It's a shame to lose the article altogether, so I thought to point it to you in case you had opportunity and interesting in creating at least a new stub in your own words. If you do, and you want access to any of the formatting (templates, infoboxes, etc.) in the old, please let me know, and I'll be happy to supply this for you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:04, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Official language of Morocco

[edit]

Dear Contributor777,

Unfortunately you added in an unsourced inaccurate statement that Berber is an official language in Morocco. Only Standard Arabic is official recognised, with the majority of people speaking Moroccan Arabic (which is a dialect) as their mother tongue. I have therefore had to revert.

Contributor777, I have reverted this edit you made today because it is plagiarized from press copy such as this. Considering your recent and lengthy history with copyright violations, and the subsequent advice given you by Moonriddengirl, I am surprised that you would be copy-pasting text again. Even small infractions of copyright infringement must be taken very seriously. if I discover that you are again violating the Wikipedia policy on use of copyrighted text, you will be blocked from editing. LGBT issues

[edit]

Please do not add names to the list of bisexual people without a source, especially not living people, who must be self-identified as bisexual and use the label on themselves. Also, just an FYI, LGBT categories and religious categories are not supposed to be used on biographies of living people unless the subject self-identifies with the label in question and the label is relevant to their public lives. You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in the recent months.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Contributor777! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Thanks for uploading File:Born 3.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. The article Esther (film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced, very-short article about a movie which has not received either a general release or any significant coverage in third party media.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. [edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Camilla (film) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Camilla (film) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 23:18, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
