The Vacancy
[edit]Hello!
Did you mean to put a NPOV tempate on The Vacancy? If so, you probably need to explain why on the article's talk page. I think you might be right, for what it's worth - I orginally put the article up for speedy deletion, but some kind soul saved it. Naturenet | Talk 28 June 2005 11:49 (UTC)

incorrect stub
[edit]Hi, just thought I'd let you know I changed an incorrect stub-sorting you did. Sadistic Ritual Abuse refers to an alleged crime, not to the consensual practices of BDSM. You might want to go back and find a more fitting stub. -- Antaeus Feldspar 17:27, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
Stub problem!
[edit]Dear Conscious, thanks for the edit on Cyril O'Reilly, I really appreciate it but the stub information is bit problem here, O'Reilly is known as an actor not a writer, so I think we should remove the writer stub tag. I changed it to the us-actor-stub. Thanks for the edit. --Cyril Thomas 11:21, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
Categorizing Historical Provinces of Japan
[edit]I think it might be better to leave historical provinces of Japan under the current japan-geo-stub category rather than cateogorizing them under prefectural geo-stubs. My reasoning is that there are still many that fall under more than one, and so for the sake of consistency, it would be better to keep them all together under one group. That's only my opinion, though, and I don't plan to change anything until I know that you and others who have categorized these know what I think. That's all. Thanks for your hard work in re-categorizing this huge category!

Iwate geo stub
[edit]Hi - First, thanks for helping subcategorize the Japan geo stubs. I've been going through the prefectures adding information about the mergers that are occurring, and noticed the Iwate geo stub image. I haven't looked at the rest of them, but the image for this one looks pretty much like an ink splotch (I realize it's actually the prefecture). Is there really nothing better available? How about the prefecture's symbol? Or perhaps something including the entire outline of Japan, perhaps something based on this image from the Japanese wikipedia (e.g. http://ja.wikipedia.org/upload/5/5d/Japan_stub.png, which I think is the image for their equivalent of japan-geo-stub - I think the characters are shi-cho-mura)? In any event the current image is, let's say, highly inscrutable. -- Rick Block (talk) 05:23, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Changing the physics stub to a quantum stub seems a good idea, but we have to be consistent and there are lots of stuff under computational chemistry or quantum chemistry that have the physics stub. I'll try to fix some as I go along. Bduke 22:24, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Stubs
[edit]Thanks for your notice, although ultimately I think "the regulars" are doing more harm than I am, particularly since I believe they're pretty much in violation of WP:OWN, and they think i'm no doubt in violation of WP:POINT. So, we're pretty much in a statemate, so I believe this is clear WP:IAR territory. We're probably going to keep on having problems until WP:WSS/NG is simplified to the point where it isn't even necessary. I want it so a newcomer on RC or RP patrol can type in a stub instinctively can be done without having to refrence any other pages. karmafist 17:18, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Alternative
[edit]Ask and ye shall recieve. It's sad that it's come to the point where you have to kick and stomp your feet apparently in order to get anyone to listen to you around here in regards to policy. People rarely listen at the Village Pump, since I assume they're too busy with their own concerns to listen to anyone else's. karmafist 18:00, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- lol, see what I meant with the Village Pump? I guarantee you that discussion isn't likely to result in anything. All I can hope for is some support for the wiki-legislature plan or something like it I detailed in my candidate statements so at least there's some light at the end of the tunnel for people like me, y'know? Hope there were no hard feelings. karmafist 18:51, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
What Consensus?
[edit]I didn't even bother with the Village Pump in regards to the stub naming because it's little more than a bunch of people spouting things off. Except in places like RFA or AFD where there are fairly clear avenues for gaining consensus and documenting when consensus is/would be achieved, there is no consensus on Wikipedia, and when people say they get consensus elsewhere, I just ignore them. No offense. karmafist 16:01, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi Conscious,
Wikipedia:WikiProject Football is starting a football Article Improvement Drive. This is a weekly collaboration to improve football (soccer) articles to featured article status. Articles to be improved can be nominated by registered users, with an explanation of what work is needed. Each Sunday, the article with the most support votes is chosen and then worked on to make it better than what it is. You're invited to take part in the drive, and also join the WikiProject Football. Thanks. -Aabha (talk) 11:22, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Stub templates
[edit]Could I ask you to specify your point - "Please stop creating stub templates" is so general a statement I can't agree with it in any length.. If you allow me to take a guess, I would think you're talking about the various footybio-stubs I've made, and to that: no, I see no point in stopping - by making cats for each country, the euro-footybio-stub category actually becomes useful rather than the big mess it is now. I'll grant you that Swiss and Romanian stubs were pretty dumb, but I did think there were more entries, but Dutch and Portugese categories would have been better when I look at it now. But I can't see why you object to French or German categories, as they each have more entries than the Danish category. So, in short, please specify your criticism please. Poulsen 17:53, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- There's a big flaw in how you count stubs, though. Even though you can determine how many stubs are from each country in the European category, browsing through the "xxx footballers" categories shows that almost all articles are stubs, so I suspect quite a few more stub categories are needed.Poulsen 15:01, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
- Well, it was effective in making me stop and think! Perhaps I've taken the Wikipedia:Be bold a little too serious - I can't deny that if you hadn't written me, I'ld now be spending my time doing {{Liechtenstein-footybio-stub}} :D Poulsen 04:04, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

World Cup
[edit]Hi!
Since we're the only ones who seem to be working on the article right now, can we decide on specific things to be done, so that there is no duplication of work? About the number of participants in the qualifying for 2006, are you sure it is 197? I remember reading somewhere that it was more than 200. -Aabha (talk) 19:55, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
- This was just meant for now, as both of us were doing it at the same time. Anyways. -Aabha (talk) 20:08, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
Hello! I've added the Football World Cup#Seletion of hosts, with most of the information just from what I can remember. The paragraph on the 2006 controversy was taken from old versions of Football World Cup 2006, but they don't have references there. So I'll try to find a few references in the coming week. Thanks. Chanheigeorge 19:51, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- You removed my section on "Unsuccessful national teams" because you think it's inappropriate. You haven't offered any reasons for this, however. American Samoa has never qualified for a FIFA World Cup, I have no idea where you pulled that one from. Please respond either here or on the article's talk page. If you can't articulate why it's inappropriate for an article on the World Cup then I will put it back in. Nach0king 14:18, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Conscious,
My exams are starting (they go on till the 19th of January), so I'm having to take a break. I'm feeling really guilty about not having participated in the AID this week as much as I would've liked to, and I'm sorry about that :( Now I have to ask you for a favour - if I'm unable to update the AID page and other stuff related to it on the 8th and 15th, will you please do it these two weeks? Do let me know if you would, I'll be really grateful. Thanks a lot. -Aabha (talk) 17:10, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Stubs for deletion
[edit]I am still not all that familiar with the ins and outs of stubs and their tags. The last time around, I refrained from voting, and only mentioned that if I were to tag all the Mexican-American/Chicano articles that are stubs with this stub template, there would be lots of them. I also mentioned that I thought the stub tag might be helpful to members of the project. But since you have proposed an alternative, I see no reason why we shouldn't follow your suggestion. We seem to be more interested in creating new articles than improving the existing ones anyways. But thanks for letting us know on the project page.--Rockero 19:27, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Jamiat Ulema e Islam and Jamiat Ulema e Pakistan
[edit]Jamiat Ulema e Islam and Jamiat Ulema e Pakistan are completely different political parties - one is Barelvi and the other is Deobandi. Why did you merge them and mess it up? Change them back to separate articles, as they should be and as they were before! Please, next time, don't unknowingly mess stubs up like that. I know they sound similar (and are part of the same coalition in government) but they are different..revert it back how it was. Thanks, I don't blame you for misunderstanding the difference, but amend the mistake ASAP.
My votes
[edit]What do I have to do to get my votes counted? Hargreavesfan 18:11, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Jamiat i Ulema Pakistan and Jamiat i Ulama i Islam
[edit]Thank you for correcting the error. I know I'm welcome to correct errors, it's just I'm new to Wikipedia you see and I'm not aware of how to do everything yet and I don't know much about all the etiquettes and the way wikipedia works. As for your queries, both parties are religious parties of two different Islamic sects who, together with Jamaat-i-Islami and others, have formed a religious alliance known as the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA). The coalition ran for the elections collectively i.e. they didn't field separate candidates as part of their individual parties but rather fielded candidates together as part of the MMA. Hence, the number of votes for them and the no. of seats won cited in the articles are the votes and seats that the MMA coalition got as a whole including both of the aforementioned parties, not the individual parties themselves - which is why they have the same figures. Hope that's cleared up any misunderstanding! By the way thanks for your much appreciated and useful advice! Tanzeel 19:15, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

I noticed that you put several requests for expansion on chemical compounds such as iodomethane and triphenylphosphine. This particular template states "Details are on this talk page or at Wikipedia:Requests for expansion," but I couldn't find any such details. "NewYork" vs "New York" stubs
[edit]I am new to stubs in general, so how would I find a list of NewYork stubs? Regular search and index search on templates don't help much, therefore I have no idea what the general standard on New York stubs is. Other stubs I have seen didn't lead me to believe this was a valid pattern to be followed. What is the naming guideline that is being applied? Thanks --Censorwolf 18:12, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
OK Thanks for the stub naming guidelines/policies refs. I didn't see that before. I still don't see a way to find the other NY stubs easily however, but it doesn't matter at this point. --Censorwolf 19:12, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Negrita Jayde: Canadian or US
[edit]Conscious, there's a dispute over whether Jayde is US or Canadian. Please see the talk page for the article. If you have a ref that shows she's a US citizen, I'd appreciate it. I couldn't definitevely peg her citizenship. Until then, I'm changing your US-bio-stub tag back to plain bio-stub. --Zippy 07:15, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Ann Cotton edit.
[edit]Good day,
You recently modified the Ann Cotton stub to specify the catgory it should be in. However, I noticed that you also removed the {{stub}} tag, without replacement. Was this intentional? If so, could you please explain what about the entry disqualifies it from being a stub? Folajimi(talk)
- The edit is fine by me. The only reason I asked was to make sure that you did intend to remove the stub notice. At this point, all I can say is that you seem to know much more about what consitutes a stub than I do. Cheers. Folajimi 21:10, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
Last Hope Stub
[edit]I am curious why you removed this stub? The article is still very short, and barely offers basic information. Is it only because it is a manga/comic? If it was about atomic fusion and had that short of an article would the stub have been removed? Sorry I am curious about your reasoning since I've seen articles in other areas about that length that are allowed to be called stubs. Ryokosha 17:56, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- But it's not a complete summary and those character descriptions are basic, without the stub other fans might not know it can be expanded and find it to expand. To a point I understand what you mean but it also seems to me there are other articles out there same length in terms of more then one page on the broswer that have a stub tag attached, which again makes me ask if this was anything but what it is, let's say a movie with characters and that breif of a plot, (in other words if it was that length) would it still be a stub? Ryokosha 21:42, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

FIFA World Cup FA?
[edit]With some revisions to the introduction, this is bound to be an FA. With regards to the introduction, I feel that the following requirement may stop the article from becoming featured:
"It complies with the standards set out in the style manual and relevant WikiProjects. These include having: (a) a concise lead section that summarizes the entire topic and prepares the reader for the higher level of detail in the subsequent sections;"
Our lead section, put bluntly, is too long and fragmented. It needs to become more concise. Now, it's 1:40 in the morning over here, and I'm gonna try and consolidate the lead section one time... and see what happens. Once I try, I'm not doing it again tonight.
See how it looks later, and correct if need be. Hell, revert if necessary.
