Seddie

Sorry, but in order for it to be included, it must meet the requirements of notability using reliable sources, which you have yet to do. Ωphois 02:05, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

And you can prove that it is his account? Regardless, the only source you had that uesd the term "Seddie" was a fansite. Unless you can find a reliable source that uses the term, there is no basis for the subject. Ωphois 02:19, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
The article on "Brangelina" has 35 sources from highly reliable sources, and the term is a part of mainstream popular culture. Sorry, but there is no comparison between "Brangelina" and "Seddie". Ωphois 02:33, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Generally, wikis cannot be cited. They are fansites, and not considered reliable sources. As for a wiktionary entry, you still have yet to provide any mainstream mention of the term. Ωphois 03:31, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Again, you have yet to provide any mainstream mention of the term. A reliable source mentioning the term is required for its inclusion. Ωphois 03:38, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Verifiability#Reliable sources should answer your questions. Hope this helps. Ωphois 03:42, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
I just mean a newspaper or source that would be considered reliable. Not a fansite or forum. Ωphois 03:53, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Erin-sanders-dragon-premiere-18.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 04:08, 27 July 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 04:08, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

reply re: 'decline'

Has nu metal declined in popularity? Do you have reliable sources to include in such an 'anti-nu-metal' article section? It seems to me that Korn, Deftones, Slipknot, Soulfly, Chimaira, DdevilDriver, System of a Down(currently on hiatus), Il Nino, Sevendust, Mushroomhead, Stone Sour, Papa Roach, Otep, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Demon Hunter, Mudvayne, Hellyeah! and Godsmack are still VERY significant acts in the heavy metal world... and ALL OF THEM are still just releasing the same albums of nu metal over-n-over-n-over again without ever really changing their style. Some try to brand them under a different flag... but it's just because the term nu-metal has some sort of Wiki-invented negativity to it. But it doesn't cover the fact that all these bands are as 'nu metal' as they were when they started... and all just as busy as they ever were (minus the sleeping SOAD... who will return to the nu metal universe... eventually) If all these nu metal bands are still touring, recording and selling... many of them "big-time"... how is it in decline? I would love to see the sources of it. If reliably sourced it would be an OK addition to the article. But Korn, Deftones, Soulfly, Chimaira, Ddevildriver, Mushroomhead, Stone Sour, Disturbed, Demon Hunter and Hellyeah! have all recently released (or are about to release) highly anticipated albums. Most of which have sold/charted well. And these bands are big draws on the summer festival circuit across North America and Europe too. So if all these nu metal acts are still releasing popular nu metal albums.. and they are... and still touring successfully... and they are... where is the decline? Re: Rollback

The other place to look for changes that might need reverted is Special:Contributions/newbies. It doesn't pick up edits by unregistered users (IP addresses), so it misses some vandalism, but it also excludes edits by autoconfirmed users (who should be making good edits). I patrol that page often, looking for vandalism and for newly-created articles that should be speedy deleted. —C.Fred (talk) 02:49, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

X-files: Kitsunegari edit

Hey Confess, All I can really suggest regarding the Kitsunegari edits made was that particular synopsis was screaming "Change". I've been reading the synopses for X-files episodes, and none are as poorly constructed as that one. Not only is the 3,992 words excessive for a plot description (as compared to 888 words for "Schizogeny") but the formatting is nowhere near similar to the past 81 entries. While the partial changes made may not be within the formatting requirements of WikiProject The X-Files, it is a crime to insist Kitsunegari stay unchanged at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.201.5.100 (talk) 23:33, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Just a suggestion

Try not to tag articles as having no content within a minute of the article having been created. This is not to say that an article would necessarily become notable later on; but there is a general consensus now that new articles should not be tagged for speedy deletion as having no context (CSD A1) or no content (CSD A3) moments after creation, as not all users will place all their information in their first revision. Thank you for the welcome. I've been following Northwest Plaza's life over the last 20 years. One, by going there, and two in print. It's hard to find sources that also have the same quotes as the printed stuff over the last 20 years, as most online articles usually move forward, not backwards. The intense love I have for that dead mall is so great that I want its page to be perfect- a kind of memorial if you will. The city council can't seem to decide what to do with it. Because of its large size though, one thing seems to remain clear, and that's turn its 122 acres of land into usable space, which means demolishing the mall. It will be a shame if that does happen, as it was a VERY large mall- nearly 2 million sq ft!! When the building does come down, all that will remain is pictures, and this article. I'm not sure I'll stay with Wikipedia when Northwest Plaza is just a memory, but thank you for your wanting me to stay. I'll think about it. --76.235.89.206 (talk) 09:41, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

I was in high school 20 years ago, and that's why I've been following it since then. Yup, it was THE place to go. Problem is, it's so far away, since I'm in the metro east, that you have to really want to go to drive that far out there. It's like the Mills today. I'm REALLY starting to hate that mall, as I found out it's only 7 miles away from Northwest Plaza, and even though it's just over 1/2 the size, it's newer. Since Westfield didn't want to upkeep the mall, it fell to shreds, and they decided to sell it, rather than try to save it. Westfield couldn't have kept up Northwest Plaza while it owned it? Oh, I did think about adding the section "Demise of Northwest Plaza" after that damage section. Someone really knows their mall history, because so few people knew the Bread Co had a fire then left. Actually, if you look, you can still see the smoke and water damage outside, so it's not that unknown.--76.235.89.206 (talk) 10:00, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

I would say to make sure you're involved in a breadth of activities. There's nothing wrong with specializing in/having a preference for certain activities, but make sure you get the whole spectrum as much as possible—sourcing and formatting, deletion (AfD discussion and speedy deletion tagging), images, free vs. non-free content (especially images), vandalism fighting, etc. Most of the RFAs these days seem to focus on whether the candidate has demonstrated competency in several areas, as opposed to being specialized in vandalism fighting or image tagging. —C.Fred (talk) 01:45, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

RE: St. Louis County

In response to this I would say that the media is not the authority on how cities are classified in St. Louis County since their reference of them varies between news outlets and is not always consistent. I have seen some refer to Ladue, Frontenac, St. Ann, Webster Groves, Overland, etc as part of Central County while some stations do not even use central, they only stick with N, W and S.

How they are classified is not exact since for the most part there are differing opinions on what is where. For the purpose of this Wikipedia article, the areas are based on a combination of their geographical locations as well as available date (county government, media, public opinion, etc). For example some may consider Wellston to be North County because its "poor" but county government says it Mid County and it lies within the central preceint of the county's police patrol.

As to why I stated this had been resolved is not based on the article's Talk page but based on the edit history and issue resolution that has been noted in contributor edits over the last few years. The article's section prior to your edit reflects what the contributors have essentially agreed on based on their edits of the article.

You are right, in regards to I-44 and others, there are some overlaps when highways are used however, that is inevitable even when changed to your edits of Page Ave and Lindbergh Blvd. St. Louis County is just odd like that. If you were to layer a map with Municipal boundaries, zip codes, highways, school districts, and fire districts nothing would line up correctly. It is for that reason that through contributors of the Population and Residents section the classification of cities was more highway and geographically based. While some may say Ladue is West County because of its wealth and status, that's not exactly true when looked at on a map. It is central. When this section was first added to the article several years ago the designations of cities was socioeconomically based and opinion driven. This produced an article that was loaded with opinion and class generalizations. The section's evolution arrived at the current descriptions which stays neutral of such stereotypes.

I feel that the contributor consensus within the edits and description of the edits that has resulted in the current version of the section is valid and should be kept that way since there is no absolute standard. Unless the classification of cities were put to a vote or made official by some decree the best alternative is to base this section on the culmination of edits which has resulted in the current content. Either that or the entire Population and Residents section should just be deleted.

St. Louis County

The media has always referred to St. Ann, Overland, St. John, Breckenridge Hills, Vinita Park, Wellston and Normandy as North County - all of which are south of I-70. Page is the boundary.

Ladue and Frontenac are always referred to as West county, because of their affluence.

If I-44 is the boundary between west and south, then part of Webster Groves is in South County.

None of this has been discussed on the talk page, so it has not been resolved.

We need reliable sources to avoid an edit war. --Confession0791 talk 02:47, 6 February 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.18.195.152 (talk)

Dispensational Foundations

"(Lindsey, LaHaye, Haggee), draw straight from classic dispensationalism, which is from Darby, not Watts". Perhaps you're referring to premillennialism, rather than ecclesiology? It's the formation of the Church that's foundational in dispensationalism, not premillennialism. Almost all dispensationalists are premillenial, but not every premillenialist is dispensational. IP impersonation

Actually, the IP copied one of my comments from earlier in the talk page. A little questionable, but not really impersonation.—Kww(talk) 20:18, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Response

Hey, I'd love to answer any questions you have. I'm not an expert, but I grew up in a non-denominational Pentecostal church which is influenced by WOF and prosperity gospel ideas. I'm about to head to bed right now, but I can email you tomorrow. Ltwin (talk) 08:41, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

The article BooG!e has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable. Fails WP:ENT.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. SummerPhD (talk) 18:11, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Reply

I did receive it, and I do intend to reply and am sorry for not doing it earlier. I've been busy the past few days: I've been out of town and I've gotten obsessed with reworking the spiritual gift and Montanism articles. However, I am going to reply to your email hopefully tomorrow. I confess I don't know much about covenant theology so I'm going to have to look in to it. Ltwin (talk) 07:01, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Yeah sorry for not responding sooner. I'm just super busy preparing to go back to school and researching for graduate school, etc. So my responses may be late in coming, but I haven't forgot.
I guess start with what you know and love. Start simply as well. There are a lot of Christianity articles that are small or average size that are just in bad shape grammar and style wise. Start by copy editing articles until you run across one you are knowledgeable or super interested in enough to do research about it. That's really how I started. I began making small contributions to Pentecostal and charismatic articles. Ltwin (talk) 11:37, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Reformed and Lutheran Beliefs on the Rapture

Hi,

You added a line to the Rapture article about Reformed and Lutheran beliefs on the Rapture. Could you please add a reference to document it? Roman Catholic and Orthodox beliefs are documented by other sources. I think that you're saying that Reformed and Lutheran beliefs are that no group will be "left behind"--which is the same as the Catholic and Orthodox beliefs. If that's the case, it would just be cleaner to say that Catholics, Orthodox Christians, and Reformed and Lutheran Christians all believe in rapture only in the sense of the resurrection of the dead generally.

--JoeLibrarian (talk) 18:09, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Good call. You can change it to be more accurate. I'm not sure if any mainline churches teach rapture theology, so that would include the United Methodist Church (a primarily Arminian body), as well. We may have to do some research. – Confession0791 talk 18:18, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. I'm much more comfortable working with Catholic, Orthodox, or Anglican sources, so if you can find an authoritative quote or reference that documents those churches' beliefs on rapture, it would be much appreciated. I guess, any source that describes the final resurrection would do--but I'm wary of just grabbing a web post without further training in those traditions. And I think it's very important for Wikipedia to have an accurate article about this topic: "rapture" is only familiar to Catholics, Orthodox, and certain other Christians from what they see in the news. It would be a shame if people thought that other traditions had differing beliefs on the subject, when in fact they believe the same thing. JoeLibrarian (talk) 00:30, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Trust me, I didn't a while go when he began talking nonsense. He always claimed he spoke with Aussie, Kevinbrogers, and then you came up. Considering he was banned, he only had the email excuse to go by and I didn't believe that either. Like how he said he got an email from Adriana Lemus regarding the iCarly seasons within minutes of sending a message to her back in January when I too wrote to her and another Nick press writer around the same time and have yet gotten a message back from either of them for two months now. But at this point, I stopped needing a response from them since I uncovered lots of good evidence I needed on behalf of the split season. He also denies writing that IP Address comment on the iCarly episode list Talk Page. Everything he said on there is things he's threatened to say over on the Wiki and he also mentioned the email thing. The guy is very complicated. - Jabrona - 05:31, 15 March 2012

Re: roll back of Rapture edits.

"Pre-tribulation rapture theology was developed in the 1830s by British evangelist John Nelson Darby and the Plymouth Brethren[9]" "John Nelson Darby first proposed and popularized the pre-tribulation rapture in 1827." Both of these statements are demonstrably incorrect. To replace the historical truth that I inserted with error that has been thoroughly refuted in published works is, with respect, unforgivable journalistically. But I suppose I should have left well-enough alone. As a journalist and former managing editor with one of the world's largest and most respected journalism organizations I can tell you we had a standing ruled for all staff: "NEVER use Wikipedia as a source, the information in it is unreliable because it is poorly researched and usually biased. Do your own research."

Now that I am semi-retired I thought why not use my 40-plus years of editorial experience to contribute some small thing toward helping improve Wikipedia rather than complain about it. I guess I should have just left it alone. The roll-back of what I inserted merely shows that the flaws of Wikipedia are endemic to its nature and, as such, cannot be changed under the present paradigm. I must say, however, that I am disappointed that the discredited work of John Bray and Dave MacPherson is allowed to stand as fact without correction. I accept that there are valid, varying views on the timing of a Rapture (or whether indeed there will be a Rapture.) However, I suggest with the greatest respect for you and your efforts, that it is one thing to propose and propound views based on Biblical exegesis; and quite another to allow blatantly false statements to stand despite adequate research showing them to be false. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mattfivefour (talkcontribs) 19:02, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
