Orphaned archives following page move
Greetings, Habesha peoples (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) has gone through at least a couple of page moves over the years. There was a problem with the most recent one, as described at Talk:Habesha peoples/Archives/2020/May#Incomplete move. Currently Talk:Habesha people is an orphaned talk page, as are its archives Talk:Habesha people/Archive 1, Talk:Habesha people/Archive 2, Talk:Habesha people/Archive 3 and Talk:Habesha people/Archive index. I thought I'd leave a note about it here, before figuring out if/how to move/merge all of these to the current Talk:Habesha peoples (edit | article | history | links | watch | logs). Cluebot III is already archiving that page, and @Wbm1058 had already identified a possible issue with two indices for its archives. I don't wish to create more headaches by moving another page's archives where the bot might not expect them. Thanks! -- Gyrofrog (talk) 18:55, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- Previously the archiving for this topic was done by Werdnabot. I've moved these pages to the current title, but the older achiving scheme and bot used a different system (naming convention). – wbm1058 (talk) 19:41, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
ArchvieThis minimum threads left
The ArchiveThis parameter minkeepthreads description says The bot will not archive if there will be this many or less sections left on the page. This seems to imply that the bot will never completely empty the page. For instance minkeepthreads=2 will not archive if there are only two threads on the page. There needs to be at least three on the page, or in general n+1. By implication, minkeepthreads=0 implies will not archive a single thread left. This also means (if I am getting this right) that this parameter is not a straight replacement for Miszabot's minthreadsleft. The conversion table at the bottom of the documenation page should give minkeepthreads=1 as equivalent to minthreadsleft=2, not minkeepthreads=2 as it currently says. That also begs the question is minkeepthreads=−1 a valid value? SpinningSpark 09:10, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Is there a way to feed vandalism that failed automatic detection into a machine learning algorithm?
Lately there seems to be a decline in human-reverted vandalism and an increasing reliance on robots to revert obvious cases. I've sometimes caught vandalism that was left on pages unreverted for days even weeks whereas this would be unheard of years ago. I wonder what steps are being taken to allow the current robots on duty to learn from machine learning (speaking as someone who uses machine learning for scientific and medical research), and what are the current processes in place to "feed" undetected positives (false negatives) and false positives so robots can better learn from these mistakes? - @Yanping Nora Soong: User talk:ClueBot Commons would be a good place to follow up on this, for a bot that runs client-side; also you can look at mw:ORES for a API-based scoring system. — xaosflux Talk 22:48, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

ClueBot NG Angry Revert list
How are pages added to the angry revert list? What situations will cause that to happen? I found the existing support material a bit lacking when explaining this, so please explain and ping me if possible. Thank you. Randompointofview (talk) 01:12, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

Starter kit for smaller wikis
Hello, and greetings! As part of a Starter kit project for smaller wikis, there is a work-in-progress guide around Bots & Tools here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Small_wiki_toolkits/Starter_kit/Bots_and_Tools. I'm reaching out with a few questions, as there is a mention of the ClueBot_NG on this page in the list of useful bots section:
- Is it okay to have the bot listed in that section? Are there any concerns?
- Would you be okay with folks from smaller wikis reaching out to you for help, and would you be willing to list your preferred method of contact under "Bot owner contact"?
- Is there anything like a note or reminder related to the bot that you would like to add in the "description" column?
Additionally, if you have a suggestion for any other bots or tools currently on the list which should not be there and those that are not there and should be there, I would love to know about them—looking forward to your input! Srishti (talk) 07:59, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- ClueBot NG is open source, and so local users could potentially configure and train it for other wikis. Keep in mind, however, that it was designed to detect vandalism on Wikipedia-style articles and not anything else. It also will not work on any language other than English without being re-trained. Re-training should only require about 20,000 hand-verified "good" article edits and 20,000 "vandalistic" article edits to start out, but will require someone to collect those. More is better. It will also require people to monitor the bot and sometimes make changes based on reported false positives. ClueBot NG, while very successful on the English Wikipedia, is not an easy bot to set up or keep running for these reasons.
- The ClueBot NG team is monolingual to my knowledge, and so the ability for us to help in other language wikis would be limited. And as supporting other project types (wikinews, wiktionary, commons, etc) is currently outside the scope of the bot, I don't really see a good way for us to support smaller wikis. I'm happy to help as I have time, but my time is extremely limited these days, as well. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 14:50, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, I missed the notification for this message earlier. After hearing your views and learning a bit more about the ClueBot NG, I realize that it might not be a good idea to list the bot in the starter kit for smaller wikis. I appreciate that you took the time to respond and shared such helpful information! Thank you! Srishti (talk) 02:39, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
ClueBot III Archive error?
Hello, in this edit the bot for some reason tried to archive to "Archives/ 4" instead of "Archive 4". Is there something malformed in the bot request? Might this have something to do with special diacritic symbols in the article title? A bug? Note that the page had been archived manually in the past, and this was the first pass by the bot. -2pou (talk) 22:44, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- 2pou, I tried fixing the bot request: Special:Diff/959503748/959854335. We'll see how the bot behaves in the future. —andrybak (talk) 23:05, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
