Intro to Information

[edit]

Hi Chris, I left welcome messages for the students who have signed up so far (e.g. User talk:Lankrist). I hope they are okay! Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 17:55, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I drew up something I can copy into every page (User:The ed17/Welcome student), so it's not a big deal at all! I just thought the students should know that I'm here as a reference if they need... I'd hate for them to have a bad editing experience just because the site is so complex. Please let me know if I can help in any other way! Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 18:33, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Chris, can you confirm with the Wikipedia team that I'm an instructor? (this is padma). Here's the link to my request: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Education_noticeboard#Request_for_course_instructor_right:_Kandeya_.28talk.29 Kandeya (talk) 04:40, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Copyediting

[edit]

Hi Chris, an editor left a message on my talk page about the class. A good percentage of your class' edits are good, but they may be trying too hard to make changes, as opposed to improving the articles. Perhaps this would be worth addressing in a class session? Thanks, Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 06:14, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. The copyediting assignment is already over, but I have asked them to reflect on it. One thing I will include in the reflection assignment is whether they indeed improved Wikipedia or just made changes. Also, I allowed them to choose their own articles rather than directing them to topics, since it was such a large class and the area is so broad. Given that, this was my first try at an assignment and I can do it differently in the future. Thanks for your help! Cleeder (talk) 19:40, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia LGBT

[edit]

I just wanted to bring Wikimedia LGBT, a proposed user group and thematic organization that promotes the development of content on Wikimedia projects which is of interest to LGBT communities, to your attention. I am sure you are so busy with your current projects, but I hope you might be able to direct people to this group if they are interested in LGBT content in any way. Of course, you are also more than welcome to indicate your interest/support, if you wish. Hopefully we can get some LGBT-related GLAM/Education/etc. projects up and running in the near future. Best, --Another Believer (Talk) 20:14, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm ElHef. I noticed that you recently removed all content from Twitterbot, with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, I restored the page's content. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. --ElHef (Meep?) 03:33, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia Library: New Account Coordinators Needed

[edit]

Hi Books & Bytes recipients: The Wikipedia Library has been expanding rapidly and we need some help! We currently have 10 signups for free account access open and several more in the works... In order to help with those signups, distribute access codes, and manage accounts we'll need 2-3 more Account Coordinators.

It takes about an hour to get up and running and then only takes a couple hours per week, flexible depending upon your schedule and routine. If you're interested in helping out, please drop a note in the next week at my talk page or shoot me an email at: jorlowitz@gmail.com.
