Welcome

Hi, Eat My Beef, Sarah Palin!. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  16:44, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Signature Templates

[edit]

{{helpme}} ~~How do I make signature templates?~~ Eat My Beef, Sarah Palin! (talk) 16:50, 9 June 2009 (UTC) I mean like this.  Chzz  ►  16:44, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

☺☻☺☻☺ Custom signatures

It's possible to customise your signature, and you can put 'code' in it to have different colours, etc. Pictures aren't allowed; hence, mine isn't an icon, it's just text characters with different colours.

You put the code in your preferences signature box, and checkmark the 'user raw signatures'; please note that it's fiddly, and easy to get it wrong, so it's best to test signing in a user sandbox area.

When using 'raw signatures' in your preferences, you need to manually include the links to your user and talk pages.

An example code is;

<small><span style="border:1px solid #0000ff;padding:1px;">[[User:Chzz|<b>Chzz</b>]] : [[User_talk:Chzz|<font style="color:#accC10;background:#0000fa;"> Chat </font>]] </span></small>

Which displays as Chzz :  Chat

Note that you should always include your name (or part of it), a link to your user page and talk page.

Perhaps the easiest way to learn more is simply to look at other peoples signatures, by editing the page they've signed on, and looking at the code. For an example page with several, ahem, interesting signatures, see the April 1st Request for signatureship.

Make sure things are OK before signing on any talk pages (particularly that the links to your own pages work). If it all goes horribly wrong, see Wikipedia:How to fix your signature.

For much more info on this, see Wikipedia:SIGNATURE#Customizing_your_signature.

If you need any help with it, ask here or talk to us live.

A tag has been placed on Laura Stinson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Uploading Pictures to Wikipedia

[edit]

{{helpme}} ~~¿How do I upload an image to Wikipedia?~~

Eat My Beef, Sarah Palin! (talk) 17:07, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Free licenced pictures should be uploaded here, at Wikimedia commons.  Chzz  ►  17:14, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Open for Expansion has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you.

I responded to that deleter maniac.
Please don't attack other editors. You are aware that {{Expand}} already says pretty much the same thing — it's for articles that need expansion but are bigger than stubs. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 22:50, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} does HTMLWikiFormatting work in a header bar?

{{Helpme}} also, does plain HTML work on Wikipedia?

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Laura Stinson ‎. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Your account has been blocked indefinitely because its username is a blatant violation of our username policy – it is obviously profane; threatens, attacks or impersonates another person; or clearly suggests that your intention is not to contribute to the encyclopedia (see our blocking and username policies for more information). We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames, and trolling or other disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. TeapotgeorgeTalk 20:43, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NAME CHANGE

[edit]

YAY MY USER NAME WAS CHANGED!!!

File:Smileypic.JPG

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Laura Stinson. Our verifiability policy requires that all content be cited to a reliable source. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:12, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Laura Stinson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- Patchy1(talk) 04:12, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Get Your Face On

If you create a stub, please put at least one complete sentence in it. Sentence fragments are unhelpful. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 15:54, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
