Re ITN comment
Hello, I wanted to respond to your comment on the Medicaid ITN nomination. There is a difference between opposing something because it is a domestic issue("I oppose this issue which deals with the internal politics or government of one country and is not covered outside of that country") and opposing something because it is related to a particular country("I oppose because this event only relates to the US") or the opposite, an event not relating to a particular country ("This event doesn't relate to the US so I oppose") The latter two points is what that ITN guideline refers to. 331dot (talk) 09:15, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:XTM Official Logo.png
Thanks for uploading File:XTM Official Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:48, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
Suicide of Tyler Clementi
Hi, could you please explain why you added Category:American musicians who committed suicide to the aforementioned article? As WP:CATDEF says, it should be clear from verifiable information in the article why it was placed in each of its categories
, but in this case I don't see anything in the article that suggests Clementi was a musician. Am I missing something here? -- ChamithN (talk) 16:08, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
- @ChamithN: The category was on Clementi's previous/redirct page, but if it doesn't fit now, I will remove it. Edit: Sorry for the multiple edits, I did not understand your point at first. lol! CherryPie94 (talk) 16:11, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
- No worries. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Best, -- ChamithN (talk) 16:17, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
Hi CherryPie94. Just curious as to why you feel this logo is Template:PD-textlogo. While I can see how it might be below the c:COM:TOO#United States, South Korea is the country of origin and you can really only use "PD-textlogo" if this would be considered to be below the threshold of originality for South Korea. Are you able to able to provide an links to official websites, court cases, etc. which clearly shows this to be below South Korea's TOO. If you are, then the file does not need to use a non-free use rationale and should be using Template:Information instead. However, if you're not sure, then it would probably be best to ask for opinions at WP:MCQ to see whether this needs to be licensed as Template:Non-free logo. Not every country has a comparitively high TOO like the United States; in fact, some countries follow c:COM:TOO#United Kingdom which has a very low TOO and this would very likely not be considered to be PD in those countries. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:24, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: I'm not really sure, I assumed Template:PD-textlogo works for all cases regardless of the region/country. I can put back the Template:Non-free logo, if I made a mistake.
- I believe that the country of origin matters because "PD-textlogo" applies to use worldwide. For example, the UK and US have very different TOOs so many logos which would be considered PD in the US are not considered PD in the UK; therefore, Commons does not typically accept such files and they are kept as local English Wikipedia files licensed as either {{Non-free logo}} or sometimes as {{PD-ineligible-USonly}}. I have been unable to find any thing about South Korea's TOO (there's no information on that at c:COM:TOO), so I'm not sure how this file should be licensed. Right now, there's a conflict between the non-free use rationale template and the PD template, which is why a bot tagged it with {{Wrong license}}. It will probably keep being tagged as such as long as this conflict exists, so maybe the best way to try and resolve it would be to ask about this at WP:MCQ. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:46, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
Your help desk question
You didn't get a response, but if a TV series is not on the air yet, it might be easier just to create a redirect leading to something related. Eventually, there would be enough information to justify an article. I don't know the answer to your question, but I think what I described is acceptable as a temporary solution. Some TV series aren't even notable so it might be a permanent solution.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 23:08, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Vchimpanzee: Apparently, not. The admins deleted the pages I reported. If you are creating a redirect to a page, you expect to find written text about it, but if there is none, it goes against WP:R. ~~ CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 07:36, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- Sometimes there isn't text about the topic. I've created many like that. The most prominent example I can think of is named winter storms which Wikipedia will not allow to be titles of articles, and editors are even reluctant to include the names in the articles about the storms.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 16:53, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Vchimpanzee: Not sure about your case, but I was told to use
{{db-misnomer}}
to report them and they were deleted. Maybe some storms are not notable enough to have a separate article and that is why they were not added, however, a TV series is and should have it's own proper article. ~~ CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 16:58, 24 February 2018 (UTC)- The winter storms are kept. TV series on networks that aren't well known, I've heard, don't necessarily qualify.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 17:02, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Vchimpanzee: The ones deleted were upcoming TV series with a lot of news articles written about them so they are notable and qualify to be added separately. The users could have easily made a page since they would have a lot of references but they were only creating redirects to increase their page creation count. Actually, after the pages got deleted, those users started contributing and creating actual articles instead of redirects. ~~ CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 17:07, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

Deaths in 2018 : Jo Min-ki entry.
Hi. We only use simple citations in the Deaths pages - cite tags create too much page coding (and that's the reason why we use simple cite). That's been the agreement for a long, long time, so I have changed it back per our standing consensus. If you disagree with this, please open a subject on the Talk page there to discuss it - please do not repeat the edit until that is talked about and resolved. Thanks. Speedy deletion declined: Love Alarm
Hello CherryPie94. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Love Alarm, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not a recently created redirect - consider WP:RfD. Thank you. ~ Amory (u • t • c) 13:00, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:41, 21 May 2018 (UTC)

Re JR article
Hi! Since I figured the edit comments is not the best place to discuss this and the discussion page you linked had been archived, I decided to ask you here. I am okay with the removal of his guest appearance in Battle Trip according to that rule (even though I would love if wikipedia was a place we actually could list all work, but if it is the rules I cannot argue against it I guess), but Law of the Jungle?! He was featured that entire season, and quite a lot in each episode. Is it really not possible to leave it in just because the show has short seasons? I am pretty sure I have seen that show listed on other profiles, and that way decided to watch a certain season. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dessidy (talk • contribs) 11:57, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Cutting and pasting from within Wikipedia
Hi CherryPie94, I have removed most of the section you added to Sulli's page about the TV show The Night of Hate Comments, as seen in the edit here [3]. It is not acceptable to cut and paste portions of other WP pages per Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Please be careful. I left the minimum information and two citations that you also copied. You could look at the rules and add a bit more, following the rules of accreditation that are needed to be followed, but the page link to the TV show should suffice for readers to follow-up and read there.
I was the editor that added the original content, so I noticed it immediately. I have not checked your other contributions to see if you have done the same thing other times. If you have, please find any instances and make corrections. In addition to not following the rules of WP, I personally feel it is not polite to reuse the work of other people as your own. As always, thanks and have fun editing!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 01:02, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
I will add - in my above note, per the rules...I meant to say it is not acceptable without crediting original editors...You must give proper accreditation to all editors from the original source, "copying content from another page within Wikipedia requires supplementary attribution to indicate it". The rules detail what more needs to be done. I haven't encountered anyone doing this and am just catching up on the rules myself. I mistakenly thought we couldn't copy from other Wikipedia pages at all, so I have just followed that self-imposed rule myself. One way to avoid it is to look at the original news articles from the other WP page and create your own wording from the source, as we normally do with citations. I think that might be easier than following all the accreditaion rules WP lists, but you may feel otherwise.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 02:04, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Bonnielou2013: I don't think I ever copied text within Wikipedia, that is why I did not know about this rule. Sorry about that. I just thought it was an important piece of info to add to sulli's page. ~~ CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 11:23, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Bonnielou2013: Update: I moved things back and add attribution per Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. ~~ CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 12:21, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
I have removed the content you added again, except for a note about the show and the quote box. I don't think you have properly read the instructions for attribution yet. The copying is extensive and you can find how to handle that in the first paragraph Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia about leaving an additional Edit Summary on the source page The Night of Hate Comments and possibly at both Talk Pages for both articles, which would be better and courteous, too. Also, accrediting the individual author Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia#List of authors, in this case, me, instead of using the blanket hyperlink that you used.
I sense a bit of a casual attitude coming from you about using material that someone else created. And if you have to work a little harder to understand the rules to give proper attribution, then you won't easily forget this and perhaps follow the rules properly in the future.
There is no urgency in getting this information transferred to Sulli's page, as there is already a link to the TV show's page, which, as I said before, readers can easily click to read.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 13:21, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
I belatedly saw the copy note you added to The Night of Hate Comments Talk Page, here [4]...But you did not add one to the Edit Summary on that page and to Sulli's Talk page. If you also add it to both pages Edit Summaries and Talk Pages, along with author accreditation in Sulli's Edit Summary, per text originally contributed by [[User:Example]] in 2019
I think that should be good. Since the edits to the source page were made over a couple of months, I think just listing the year with my User name is sufficient.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 14:28, 17 October 2019 (UTC) You can make the edit on the source pages' Edit Summary with a Dummy edit without actually contributing there, if you didn't know about this. I didn't, and this piece of information might be the only good thing to come out of this for me as I will probably never copy and paste.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 15:10, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Bonnielou2013: I did read the page you sent and followed, exactly, the hyperlink method per WP:PATT since the page is edited by many, not just you. It is either hyperlink method or lists of authors, not both. Anyway, I did what you wanted and followed exactly the lists of authors method. Also, there is a note about me copying in Sulli's talk page since 14 October (Just now, I added your username to the note I left in Sulli's talk page), which by the way, not mentioned in both methods. ~~ CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 20:13, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
We're almost there, thanks for working with me. The note on Sulli's Talk page does not include the entire content you copied, here [5], you left out your additions under the Public Image section, which you added later. And, if you would add back the template with the correct Revision page link to all the copied content, on the The Night of Hate Comments Talk Page (which I removed, along with my prior reverts).
As you can tell, I was a little shocked with your having added the content without any Edit Summary in the first place. And your brief comments to me, "Sorry about that" and "I did not know about this rule" were also surprising. It is hard to believe an editor with your time here would think cutting and pasting other WP contributions would not have a rule of some sort. Overall, you appear to add Edit summaries to very few of your edits. I think if you added one about copying the content the first time, it would have been easier to understand. I am not a stickler for rules, but that was one that I myself got counseled on and adhered to, especially after I saw their helpfulness.
As to your saying that this content you copied and added "was an important piece of info to add to sulli's page", I initially noticed that Sulli's page needed some updating to reflect more of what we are currently reading about her personality and championed causes. But I also reflected on what was the best way to add it in the best encyclopedic fashion, without being reactionary, with all that had been written by media afterwards. The content about the TV show seemed well fit on that page, but I don't think it is necessary to post it all on Sulli's page, as you do. But, I agree with your adding the Public Image section, if it was you, that is well suited.
When I have time, I will probably make some changes and additions to the content you have copied and added. I think some deletions, some rewording and paraphrasing, along with some more citations will make it more suitable for Sulli's page. Which is what we normally do, we find citations and create content. In the meantime, other editors may may changes, too. As I have indicated, I am not thrilled with any copying within WP, as I said, I think that is what page links are for; the reader now has to find a sizable portion of content to read twice, on both pages. And, as to the contribution level, it seems more admirable and satisfying to create one's own.
Sorry this is so long and thanks for your time...and after you make the remaining couple of changes I mentioned above I will let you rest.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 00:56, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Bonnielou2013: I don't understand why you think I don't look for citations and then add info, just because I copied a paragraph from another page (which I thought might be useful). I'm the one that spent hours on Naver looking for sources and created Sulli's entire personal life section and death section. Also, as I said previously, I did not know about the copying rule since I never copied before, I always contribute my our work after looking for sources, whether you believe that or not, I don't care. You might not like copying, but Wikipedia doesn't discourage it. We contribute to Wikipedia to benefit the readers, not to claim this is our work and don't want it copied to other pages within Wikipedia. As I said above, the copy box I left in the show's talk page and in the edit history is enough and Sulli's talk page in enough. Per WP:COPYWITHIN When copying content from one article to another, at a minimum provide a link back to the source page in the edit summary at the destination page and state that content was copied from that source. If substantial, consider posting a note on both talk pages. It says add a note (not the entire list of what was copied) if a lot was copied, I copied one short paragraph and a 2 sentences. Moreover, both methods don't mention adding it to the talk page of the article you paste into, but I already added a note, there is no need to edit and add everything I copied in Sulli's talk page since people can find it easily in the edit history. Please don't make it harder to edit Wikipedia when people follow the methods listed exactly. I know I was wrong previously because I did not attribute you and was not including edit notes since people were editing the page rapedly and my changes were overlapping with other and it was being discarded because of the overlapping, however, I will edit Sulli's talk page, but please be more flexible with other people next time. I'm not saying not to ask for attribution, however, a simple attitude is enought if a small amount was copied. ~~ CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 08:56, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
We're good. And your changes to Sulli's page are constructive. Under Public Image, consider adding her voice on mental health issues and women's rights, the later which is tied to the no-bra issue. Two citations already on the page Billboard [6] and BBC [7] both mention them.--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 01:50, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
