Proposed deletion of GMRT project

[edit]

The article GMRT project has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of significance. Does not give any information to the reader.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Anarchyte 12:18, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

On further investigation it's a duplicate article - we already have an article at Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope and I have redirected your title GMRT project to that article. Please always check carefully before creating a new article, to avoid duplication. Thanks. PamD 14:34, 29 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sankshi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from https://gazetteers.maharashtra.gov.in/cultural.maharashtra.gov.in/english/gazetteer/KOLABA/places_Sankshi%20Fort.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Rasalgad

[edit]

Hello Ccmarathe,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Rasalgad for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. Take a look at our suggestions for essential content in short articles to learn what should be included.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

Your contributed article, Manikgad (Raigad)

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Manikgad (Raigad). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Manikgad. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Manikgad – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Fitindia (talk) 15:18, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Indian hill fort articles

[edit]

Hello Ccmarathe -- I have declined the deletion requests on both Salota fort & Mohangad, as I think they are probably notable. However, your articles will continue to be suggested for deletion if you create them with only an infobox and no references. It's really important to supply your references when starting articles. Books, national newspapers, journal or magazine articles are considered reliable. (They need not be in English.) If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page (though I am sadly ignorant of the subject area), or the Teahouse is a friendly forum for newcomers. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 05:42, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, I am thankful for not deleting the article.I really have very less time to hang up on the wikipedia and write an article. It will be excused for me if I enter the details of the article in parts as an when I get time. The articles which I write are based on my personal study of the historicaL area.Very much less is written in the news papers and journals. These places have been lost in the old history books.

Hello, Ccmarathe. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Amruteshwar Temple, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Upload to Commons

[edit]

Thank you for uploading free images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view your previous uploads). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading! XXN, 14:54, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you to use the MTC! tool to mass-move to Commons all your files uploaded here. XXN, 17:05, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia, and its policies

[edit]

Hello sir, I am Kiran.
First of all, thanks a lot for creating many articles, and for your edits on other articles. I realised some of your edits were undone because they did not meet/follow the policies of wikipedia. From your edit history, it is clear that you are here to help wikipeida, and improve the articles about history of Maharashtra, specially forts. :)
There are like hundreds of policies, and essays about policies. So I will include the policies concerning forts, and similar articles.

  • A policy which applies to every wikipedia article is: "provide reliable sources". You can find more information here: WP:RS.
  • Another policy that comes to mind (related to forts, and historical places) is "Wikipedia is not a travel guide". Information can be found here: WP:NOTGUIDE. Basically, we can add only "factual" (a little similar to "scientific" information). We should avoid "how to get here", or "best hotels"; and similar content. But "how to get here", can be explained in "Transportation". But again, it should be related only to facts.
  • Another best suggested method is: compare an article on the same subject before editing. It will give you good idea what information is included, and how to include it in best way.

If you have any doubt, or question about Wikipedia, please feel free to ask me. I will try my best to answer your questions.

Wikipedia Asian Month 2017: Invitation to Participate

[edit]

Hello! Last year, you signed up to participate in Wikipedia Asian Month (WAM) 2016 on the English Wikipedia. The event was an international success, with hundreds of editors creating thousands of articles on Asian topics across dozens of different language versions of Wikipedia.

I'd like to invite you to join us for Wikipedia Asian Month 2017, which once again lasts through the month of November. The goal is for users to create new articles on Asian-related content, each at least 3,000 bytes and 300 words in length. Editors who create at least four articles will receive a Wikipedia Asian Month postcard!

Also be sure to check out the Wikipedia Asian Art Month affiliate event - creating articles on Asian art topics can get you a Metropolitan Museum of Art postcard!

If you're interested, please sign up here for the English Wikipedia. If you are interested in also working on other language editions of Wikipedia, please visit the meta page to see other participating projects. If you have any questions, please visit our talk page.

Thank you!

- User:SuperHamster and User:Titodutta on behalf of The English Wikipedia WAM Team

This will be the last message you receive from the English Wikipedia WAM team for being a 2016 participant. If you sign up for WAM 2017, you will continue receiving periodic updates on the 2017 event.

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ccmarathe. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Maharashtra Forest Department, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

PDFs

[edit]

Quite apart from the fact that your recent PDF uploads were copyvios and had an invalid licence, PDFs are useless on Wikipedia. I don't know what we allow their uploading. They cannot be used as illustrations in articles and if they are meant as article text, they are useless because they cannot be edited. Do not upload any more. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:32, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Aurangzeb. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Kautilya3 (talk) 17:08, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please attribute or claim media you uploaded or restored: File:Kothaligad3.jpg and others

[edit]

You uploaded or restored , File:Kothaligad3.jpg, but for various reasons did not add an {{information}} block, or indicate your (user) name on the file description page. Media uploaded to Wikipedia needs information on the SPECIFIC authorship and source of files, to ensure that it complies with copyright laws in various jurisdictions.

If it's entirely your own work:
please include {{own}} in the relevant source field, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, ensuring that your user name (or name you want used for attribution) is clear in the author field, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant (if such a license is not already used). You should also add an |author= parameter to the license tag, to assist reviews and image patrollers. You can also add |claimed=yes and an |author=to the {{media by uploader}} or {{presumed_self}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

If it's not entirely your own work, or the media is based on the work of others:
Please update the source and authorship fields, so that they accurately reflect the source and authors of the original work(s), as well as the derivative you created. You should also not use a "self" license unless the work is entirely you own. Media that is incorrectly claimed as self or {{own}}, will eventually be listed at Files for Discussion or deleted, unless it's full status is entirely clear to other contributors, reviewers and image patrollers. You should also read Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission which details how to confirm any permissions you obtained for works by others that are still in copyright.

Whilst this notification, relates to a single media upload, it would also be appreciated if you could ensure that appropriate attribution exists for other media you uploaded, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

It's okay to remove or strike messages like this once the concerns have been addressed. :).

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Dhakbahiri8.jpg.

It's nice to share media, It's even better when re-users can give you an appropriate credit line.

It would therefore be appreciated if you could review the {{information}} block which has been added to an upload you made.

It would also be appreciated if you were able to add an extended description, which expands upon the one you already gave, and which provides reusers of the image with additional context. Generally a short paragraph is more than enough. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 21:42, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wikivoyage -A travel guide to Forts?

[edit]

I note from your User page that you have made some substantial contributions to a number of articles on Fortifcations and Forts in your region.

I would therefore like to encourage you to consider contributing at English Wikivoyage, a free content travel guide. Recently articles were started at English Wikivoyage on Castles and voy:Fortifcations. Hill forts are the castles of the sub-continent, and naturally it seems reasonable that English Wikivoyage should have coverage of them. Perhaps this is an area of travel writing you would be interested in contributing to ? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 22:17, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Indori fort4.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

A tag has been placed on File:INDORI FORT6.pdf requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Reliable sources

[edit]

Hi I’m a new page reviewer and I see you’ve recently created a series of articles on forts sourced only or partly to trekshitiz.com. I don’t think this is a reliable source so there is a danger that these articles will be deleted. Rather than creating more articles now, can I suggest you look for additional reliable independent sources to support the ones you’ve created? Things like academic papers, books, journals, government or official heritage organisation sites are good. Travel and tourism sites are really no good in their own. All the best, Mccapra (talk) 17:20, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Pabargad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. HeartGlow30797 (talk) 07:18, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi HeartGlow30797, I am unable to find the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion" The article on Pabargad dscribes a place which now a deserted. The rulers which ruled the place have destroyed the structures and also the presence in history books . Nothing written about it is found on websites. I do not represent any company, organisation or association. I have replaced the refrence from an organisation with news paper info. I request you to avoid deletion of the article. User:Ccmarathe 5/4/2020 2:12pm (IST)

@Ccmarathe: Hi this is what I meant in my note to you a few days ago. If you keep creating articles without reliable sources, other editors are going to try and delete them. You say above that 'nothing written about it is found on websites'. I hope that is not true and you can find something on Google books maybe. If there is really nothing about it on websites or anywhere else that you can find, then it can't remain on Wikipedia because it doesn't have reliable independent sources to support it. Good luck! An article you recently created, Morgiri Fort, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Wikipedia Asian Month 2019

Dear Participants and Organizers,

Because of the COVID19 pandemic, there are a lot of countries’ international postal systems not reopened yet. We would like to send all the participants digital postcards and digital certifications for organizers to your email account in the upcoming weeks. For the paper ones, we will track the latest status of the international postal systems of all the countries and hope the postcards and certifications can be delivered to your mailboxes as soon as possible.

Take good care and wish you all the best.
