Notice

The article Sammy Smith has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:NMOTORSPORT.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hi Max,
Sorry- I didn't see your message until now since I was on vacation this past week (a camping trip, so I had no WiFi/internet signal). Another user (User:Thrashbandicoot01) created articles for both of those drivers.

An article you recently created, List of NASCAR on NBC broadcasters, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Ways to improve Huff Racing

[edit]

Hello, Cavanaughs,

Thank you for creating Huff Racing.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article needs more references to satisfy notability for sport. What is needed are references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide. You may also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the article may not be suitable for inclusion.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Results Tables

[edit]

Hello @Cavanaughs, I saw you added a few results tables in articles like L. W. Miller, Jim Inglebright, Scott Gaylord and Joey McCarthy, but the only one that is ready is the Inglebright's ones...The others miss the drivers DNQs (even if it was a combination race with Cup or other series but the driver competes in both of them in that year, it should be added in both results tables), the pole positions, most laps led, the teams, the Numbers, the manufacturers, and a lot of results are without colors....So I suggest you add this still in your sandbox, before moving to the main page, otherwise people might miss it and stay like that for years. But Keep up the good work, you help a lot the WikiProject, Thank you Luks25 (talk) 21:17, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@CavanaughsI don’t know how or why you changed my Visconti Motorsports page to Team Chick but I would like my page returned to its original form. Please return my Visconti Motorsports page back to the original state. contact me at jvee74@aol.com or text 516 286 9089 Jvee7424 (talk) 23:41, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Cavanaughs changed my entire page with all incorrect information, how can this happen, I want it fixed Jvee7424 (talk) 23:49, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your move. The article you cited clearly treats Visconti and Team Chick as separate entities. It does not say that Visconti was bought out and is now owned by Team Chick. I suggest starting a WP:RM discussion for something like this if you insist that the article should be renamed. @NASCARfan0548: courtesy ping. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:15, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@User:Jvee7424 Hi Mr. Visconti and Mrs. Benevento-Visconti- I'm sorry for making the incorrect assumption that your entire team was sold to Team Chick Motorsports. I was on vacation last week and didn't make any Wikipedia edits during that time. If I had seen your message to me when you sent it, I would have changed the name of the article back to Visconti Motorsports. (Luckily, another user did.) Based on the wording "deciding to purchase equipment from Visconti Motorsports to launch their own ARCA Menards Series program" in the article on the ARCA website about Mandy Chick running the race at IRP, it sounded like your entire team was sold to the Chick family, so that's why I changed the title of the article. Also, ARCA crew member and podcaster Colby Evans thought the whole team was sold as well. You might want to announce your team's future plans (that your "motorsports operation is being restructured") in a more public way such as posting a statement on your team's Twitter account/social media so nobody else is confused. It's highly unlikely that Adam Fenwick (who wrote the article about Chick's team on the ARCA website) and Colby Evans have seen the messages you've sent to me and other Wikipedia editors. Only Wikipedia editors are likely to see talk page messages. I'm sorry again for this mistake and that your family, friends and fans got confused by the article title changing. I hope to see your team back at the track soon!

Thank you,
Cavanaughs (talk) 17:02, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Cavanaughs! Just wanted to take a quick moment to say that I've come to love your edit summaries. They are very informative. :] - "Ghost of Dan Gurney" (work / talk) 04:15, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Aw, thank you! I appreciate it! It's nice to know that someone likes them- they are often long and when you read them it kinda almost sounds like I'm a NASCAR TV commentator (especially if I add something "fun" in one)! I learned from reading other NASCAR editors' edit summaries to include links if there's room in the edit summary (that's what makes them long sometimes!) so people know why I made that edit.

Hello @Cavanaughs, I saw that you created the List of Hispanic NASCAR drivers and I think it is very important this type of article has visibility but the definition is very ambiguous, since the name of the article refers to hispanic drivers but the definition says about Latin America ... and Brazil it is part of Latin America (even though it speaks Portuguese) and there wasn't any Brazilian drivers in the article . .. And in addition, there is an even broader definition of Latin America, which includes all countries in Central America and the Caribbean, even those that speak English or Dutch, but they are included because they faced similar colonization, cultural and socioeconomic conditions.

Then we could change the definition mentioned in the article, or include at least Brazilian drivers, since Brazil is part of Latin America in all its definitions, or include all drivers from Latin America in its broadest sense as well. (In these last two cases we would have to change the name of the article).

In my opinion, we could at least include Brazilians too, since there are very few Brazilian drivers who raced in Nascar and the size of the article wouldn't change practically anything.

NASCAR team navigation boxes

[edit]

Recently, someone de-colored the Joe Gibbs Racing navigation box. I want to tell him we have an unwritten rule (unless it's actually posted somewhere) that all active team navigation boxes are colored, but he'll just revert it. The guy isn't part of the NASCAR WikiProject; he's mainly involved in football-related articles. Should we have some ruling on colored navigation boxes? - Areaseven (talk) 10:22, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like I missed your last minute edit to this draft and mistakenly deleted the page. I sometimes open up all of the drafts that are due for deletion soon, each in its own tab and I didn't refresh the page before deleting it. I'm sorry you had to go to WP:REFUND to get it restored. Hello, Cavanaughs,

I thought I'd let you know that this draft is due for another CSD G13 speedy deletion in a few hours. Because it has already gone through this process at least once, you no longer will be receiving 5 month warnings and not all admins who delete drafts post notifications about it on draft creator's user talk page. I think that with a little more content to put these lists into context, it looks like this draft could be AFC reviewed and approved for main space so I wanted to alert you to this coming deletion. Thanks for all of your contributions to the project. Liz Read! Talk! 02:52, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Liz! I made an edit to the article a minute ago so hopefully it won't be deleted! Cavanaughs (talk) 03:59, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

NASCAR on Amazon moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, NASCAR on Amazon, is not suitable as written to remain published. Haas Factory Team

[edit]

Should we create a new article for Haas Factory Team? Stewart–Haas Racing has too much of a legacy to be renamed, so it should be treated like how we separated Legacy Motor Club from Richard Petty Motorsports and its predecessors. - Areaseven (talk) 03:47, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2025 NASCAR Cup Series

[edit]

Hello! So I read and (hopefully) following the wikipedia Crystal Ball guidelines, and I made the 2026 nascar cup series redirect, would that be too early? I know you've done it with "Now that the (current seasons article) Cup Series season article has been started, the redlink for the (next seasons article) one is on that one, so here's the temporary redirect (to the NASCAR Cup Series article) that gets added to try to prevent people from trying to create it extremely early"?

TL:DR am I too early or am I good? Cause we currently have a 2025 nascar cup series link. 45BearsFan (talk) 16:49, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Memphis Villarreal

[edit]

Hello, Cavanaughs,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username IceBergYYC and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Memphis Villarreal, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|IceBergYYC}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Deletion discussion about Memphis Villarreal

[edit]

Hello Cavanaughs, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Memphis Villarreal, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Memphis Villarreal (2nd nomination).

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|IceBergYYC}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
