Deleting pages

{{helpme}} How do you delete a page?

Hi! There are a number of ways, but it's a process rather than an action, so you'll need to involve other editors:
  • Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion: if you feel a page meets one of the criteria listed, you would "tag" the page (for example, if you thought that the page was a copyright violation you'd tag it with {{db-copyvio}}. An admin would then check the page and, if necessary, they would delete it.
  • WP:PROD: alternatively, you could tag a page with {{prod}}, which "proposed deletion". Any editor could disagree with you, and remove the tag. If the tag hadn't been removed in seven days then an admin could delete the page.
  • WP:AFD: the final way is to nominate the page at "articles for deletion": editors would discuss the page for at least seven days, and at the end a decision would be taken as to whether or not the page should be deleted.
Hope that helps! If you have any further questions do please ask me anything!

{{helpme}} I am a new user. I got a couple of questions, First, how come i am not an autoconfirmed user? Second, how come i can't add watch on articles and is it because i am a user, not a autoconfirmed user?

"Autoconfirmed" is a permission that is automatically granted when a user account is older then 4 days, and the user made 10+ edits. Being autoconfirmed gives users certain extra privileges (Such as the right to edit protected pages or the usage uploading new versions of an image). To prevent people from abusing the system by simply creating a new accounts all the time, these requirements are in place.
As for the watchlist: As far as i am aware there are no restrictions regarding its usage. Could you follow the steps at Wikipedia:Watchlist#Controlling_which_pages_are_watched, and tell me what does not work? Not being autoconfirmed should have nothing to do with this entire issue.
Since you indicated that you have more questions, i would advice joining the Wikipedia-en-help chat by clicking this link This is a volunteer run chat channel intended for asking questions. It allows for somewhat faster and direct communication, and is especially handy if you have multiple or longer questions that need feedback. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 18:45, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Instead of mailing to "Arman Cagle" it was set to mail "Arman Caglel". I presume you missed the last L in my name there :). Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 18:27, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I found the problem. I have a space in my name (Arman Cagle). So i put Special;Emailuser/Arman Cagle. However this doesn't work. So I had to put Arman_Cagle (a spacer) and it worked. Just to let you know in case someone else asked about this Thanks! Arman Cagle (talk) 18:42, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Arman Cagle
Er, no. It both works with and without an underscore, you simply misspelled your name. I initially corrected it, but you changed your name again, which broke it. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 18:48, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Converting BMP into a PNG

How do I convert a file that is a .BMP into a .PNG?

You need to use an image manipulation program such as GIMP or Photoshop. Open the BMP file, and then save as a JPG. --ANowlin: talk 19:38, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Non-free files in your user space

Hey there Arman Cagle, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Arman Cagle. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 05:02, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

I just reverted this edit at Typhoid Mary as the article I've cited indicates that the number of deaths was 3 not 23. I came across this because someone then repeated your edit at the Typhoid fever article. I am notifying you because I want to make sure I'm not overlooking a reliable source that might indicate the higher number of deaths is correct. Thanks for your work as an editor, and have a great weekend. -- Scray (talk) 01:30, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
