Page Triage newsletter
Hey all. Some quick but important updates on what we've been up to and what's coming up next :).
The curation toolbar, our Wikimedia-supported twinkle replacement. We're going to be deploying it, along with a pile of bugfixes, to wikipedia on 9 August. After a few days to check it doesn't make anything explode or die, we'll be sticking up a big notice and sending out an additional newsletter inviting people to test it out and give us feedback :). This will be followed by two office hours sessions - one on Tuesday the 14th of August at 19:00 UTC for all us Europeans, and one on Wednesday the 15th at 23:00 UTC for the East Coasters out there :). As always, these will be held in #wikimedia-office; drop me a note if you want to know how to easily get on IRC, or if you aren't able to attend but would like the logs.
I hope to see a lot of you there; it's going to be a big day for everyone involved, I think :). I'll have more notes after the deployment!
I haven't received this yet, but I'll put it here to save Oliver the trouble. Callanecc (talk • contribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 08:36, 4 August 2012 (UTC) {{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}}

Warning
OK Callanecc, here's a warning for you. The next time you post such 'warnings' on only one user's page, when it is quite evident that not only is their another individual involved, but that it was their personal attack that was responsible for the incidents in the first place, and furthermore they are escalating the attacks, I will either (a) report you, or (b) quite possibly start vandalising your talk page - or at least spraying it with the pompous 'warning' templates that Wikipedia regulars use to compensate for their inadequacies . In case you can't read, I'm heartily sick of this place, with its bogus 'civility' and its endless manipulation by POV-pushing bigots, deranged cults, and snake-oil salesmen - all of which use the bogus 'civility' policies (along with the other bureaucratic nonsense that makes this place so dysfunctional) as a shield from criticism. A block (the longer the better) might be the best thing for me anyway. I could then leave this heap of garbage masquerading as an encyclopaedia alone. AndyTheGrump (talk) 13:19, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not going to remove the above but I will use it as an opportunity to say the following:
- User:Iamthemuffinman posted one message ([5]) to User talk:AndyTheGrump which was reverted (by User:Anthonyhcole and reinstated [6] approx 5 hours before this incident.
- I posted the level 3 warning on User talk:AndyTheGrump (at 54 minutes) after this (at 50 minutes) on User talk:Iamthemuffinman. User:KoshVorlon issued a level 4 warning to User:Iamthemuffinman (at 58 minutes) after this (at 57 minutes). I then left User:AndyTheGrump a level 4 warning (at 05 minutes) after this (at 59 minutes) and this (at 03 minutes). Hi,
I had submitted AFC on Dr. Prasad Kaipa. I was declided on 9th July with a recommendation to follow golden guidelines. Accordingly, I updated the article and added references. I also removed content missing online verificable third party references. I submitted the corrected version on 29th July. However, I could not find any action / review of the content. Kindly guide me.

Dear Sir,
I urge you to reconsider your decision to close the request as you have done. My rationale for the request was that similar redirects exist for HP1 (film) and HP1 (book). It is not common for abbreviations for the Harry Potter films to appear in print media, and hence, I will not be able to provide sources for the requested redirect, nor the existing redirects as well for that matter. Wikipedia naming, in my observation, follows conventions and precedents, and my request is solely based on existing precedents for Harry Potter books and films. Thanking you, 117.192.204.191 (talk) 09:13, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Vandalism template
Hi Callanecc, I noticed that on 13 August 2012, Monday, you increased the vandalism level on my template. May you explain to me how this template operates as based on what I know, I did not vandalise anything?Arctic Kangaroo (talk) 14:19, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- The template, Template:vandalism information (which is on your talk page), is automatically updated when changed at {{vandalism information}}. So no you didn't vandalise anything (no need to worry about that :)), people update it based on Huggle's (usually) vandalism statistics. - No worries, hopefully they will stop. Regarding the Admin noticeboard/3RR make sure that you have left a 3RR or edit warring warning (Template:Uw-3rr (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), Template:Uw-ew (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), or Template:Uw-ewsoft (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)) as this makes the admin's job easier when checking if the reported users have been warned. Also keep in mind that you can request page protection at WP:RFPP when there is more than one vandal (or other name) involved. Regards, Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 14:33, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tips, but when I initially templated them, I think I was in two minds as to whether it was - or would turn into - an edit-warring issue or was simple disruption, but plumped for the latter (and only directly warned the second IP, as the first had only made one edit - plus if the first IP was the same person, they would have seen the warning on the second IP address). As for page protection, I'm wary of ending up with the page locked in the "wrong" version in this sort of situation, often for weeks. Anyway, sorted for now - until next time. N-HH talk/edits 15:00, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- In any case once they get up to the third revert it's worth giving them a 3RR warning. I know what you mean about the page being locked in the 'wrong' version - can be quite annoying. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 15:03, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

I can't provide Diffs, due to being on the phone, but, I'm pretty sure you've made an error, on the 3RR noticeboard. UAssist.Me
Hi Callanec, Thanks for your review of my article at http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/UAssist.ME. I'm a little confused though.
I listed about 6 different references (which I believe covers significant coverage)
The sources were made up of media articles include articles by Inc. and the White house (which I believe covers reliable)
And none of the articles were directly connected to the subject (which I believe covers independent).
Where did I go wrong? Kind Regards Carlang (talk) 17:56, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- When we look for notability we look for significant coverage about the subject in secondary reliable sources - have a look at WP:42. The Inc.com article seems to be about Alfredo Atanacio rather than UAssist.ME. While The White House is a reliable source in this case, it doesn't talk about UAssist.ME, but rather the award (which the company hasn't won yet). If it does win the award I imagine it would be notable, given that it will probably also get coverage in reliable sources (for example, news articles). Hope that helps? Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 18:03, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

- Does this mean, that I would be well in my rights to create an article on Alfredo Atancio based on the information contained in the articles?
- Kind Regards

- (Each time you click enter/return you need to put the colons back in (have a look what I just did to the message I just wrote.)
- I don't know whether there would be significant coverage to meet the requirements of WP:BIO, that's a decision you would need to make for yourself after you looking for secondary, reliable sources about him, but if you do think there's enough feel free to make another AFC submission (or a draft in your sandbox) and I'd be happy to take a look for you. - I'll work on the page and contact you when I think it's done.
- Thanks a lot again

IRC
Hi Callanecc. I see there have been suggestions that things like specific reverts can be discussed IRC. In the interests of transparency and enabling other editors to follow up - especially in vandalism control - my own personal opinion is that such matters on that are not urgent or crisis driven and that don't strictly need a private meeting on IRC should and ought to be discussed on-Wiki. However, I'll understand perfectly if others don't agree - and there seems to be a lot of people at the CVU who don't appreciate my input;) There's a kind of guideline here but it's a bit vague and open to interpretation. In all my time on Wikipedia I have never used IRC once, and still do not see a need for it - that said, my time zone and those of many others is not particularly conducive to its use either. Strictly personal matters can of course be handled by email, and some of us who discuss software and feature development do so by Skype video link-up (which can easily be recorded). These discussions are not contentious however and while they are not done to keep the community out of them, unlike instant messaging which is open to banter and abuse, they certainly help reduce the signal-to-noise ratio, and because they are face-to-face they are exceptionally civil and no one gets kicked off. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk)
- Just for the record I appreciate your input, just not the way you sometimes put it.
- I've answered this from the context of my edit summary for the revert, is that what you meant, or this there something waiting on my watchlist?
- I wholy agree about the use of IRC, but having used it for a while I can certainly see the benefit for discussions and help (such as WMF's office hours, #wikipedia-en-help, #wikipedia-en-accounts, #wikipedia-en-cvua, and the ability to get an admin to act quickly if needed). In this case I said email becuase it does relate, somewhat to private information, and IRC is - sort of - an alternative.
- On another note, are diambiguation pages deleted through AFD? Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 09:15, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- Depends what's wrong with them. Generally MfD or or speedy per G6. To get an admin to act quickly or provide some urgent input I usually check who is online from the ones I know and who are often on line. I check their contribs and see if they have been editing in the last 30 minutes or so. Arbcom and Oversighter emails are always very rapidly responded for urgent and serious cases. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:50, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- I've PRODed it, just wanted to check whether it was MFD or AFD if it's contested, thanks. Reason was that I couldn't a mention of the deletion process for disambiguation pages (except G6 & PROD) anywhere. I didn't think it was MFD because WP:MFD says that it's for things outside the namespace (but as with lots of things that may very well be not so accurate - and be the previous way things were done or someone's idea of how they think it should work).
- I check the deletion, block and protection logs for online admins. But if there's an admin's username in the list on my IRC client which I recognise it's easier and faster to talk them on IRC (and discuss the issue I have), also means I don't need to write an email and leave them a message on their talk page. I've waited more than a few hours after I sent an email to Oversight (though I haven't tried ArbCom). Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 13:12, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your help, I am very new to creating Wikipedia articles!74.129.125.119 (talk) 20:13, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- No problem, if you need any help, feel free to ask any time. You need to add secondary, reliable sources to demonstrate notability according to the [[WP:GNG|general notability guideline. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 20:38, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- In order to cite the sources what are the two main codes used both in text and in the citation section?
- Does this other source need to come from another website or material or can it come from the same website?
- Is there any difference in how to cite a text?
- I do appreciate the help and for filling me in about the number of sources, I plan on adding additional information to the page I just wanted to start our and see what I had to do to get it going.
- Jessbear14 (talk) 23:48, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- In terms of the sources you need to add, the references it needs are secondary, reliable sources to demonstrate notability according to the general notability guideline. Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners will tell you how to add references. Basicially if you are referencing a web page, you can put the URL of page page between <ref>{that is here}</ref> tags and it will automatically appear in the references.
- The banner at the top of the article now is proposal for deletion, which means that (unless the tag is removed, by anyone) the article will be deleted on 4 Sep 2012. It was proposed for deletion because an editor believes that it doesn't meet the WP:GNG, so you need to include secondary, reliable sources and remove the tag. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 10:57, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- I added what I believe is a secondary article, I plan on continuing to build this I just wanted to add another source so that I could give myself time to continue working on it. Is the source I used acceptable? Is it now Okay to remove the tag?
- Thanks as alwaysJessbear14 (talk) 14:20, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- Make sure you indent your comments on talk pages so that the conversation is easier to follow (have a look how I've done it here).
- Yep it looks good to me, I still think it may have problems regarding establishing notability to the standard required. You can remove the WP:PROD tag whenever you want, and you don't have to leave a reason.
- However, it is considered polite and contstructive to leave a reason (usually as an edit summmary), and good editing behaviour to leave {{deprod-m|PAGENAME|REASON}} on the talk page of the editor who proposed the article for deletion. There is also a template to put on the article's talk page (but I'll do that for you if you like). For information on how to contest (and therefore remove) a PROD tag, have a look at WP:DEPROD.
- I'd leave a reason with something like "I've added a secondary, reliable source and will continue working on the article". Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 14:39, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for your help! I have tried to do all of the things you have listed. I would appreciate you putting the template on the articles talk page if you could. Thanks!Jessbear14 (talk) 14:50, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- I've put Template:Old prod full on the article's talk page, and I've also placed Template:Notability on the article. I still don't think that notability is established becuase the article lacks sources which are independant of the subject (that is, Dr. O'Grady). Hi. Can I clean the article talk pages per WP:NOTFORUM, WP:NOT, and WP:HARASS? For example such things like this one. Read that section. - The official guidelines are here and here (have a read through them). Given that you are quite new I would suggest that you don't refactor other's comments as you might not have the same ideas of what is and is not okay compared with more experienced users. Also given that the conversation is old there isn't a great need to act on it. I don't think that there is anything in there which needs to be (or should be) removed. I hesitate to refactor other's comments, unless they were completely and obviously meet the conditions in WP:TPOC and they are a hindrance. If the discussion is progressing well or it's very old then there isn't really a great need to change what was said. Hope this helps. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 07:52, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks much for voting. When we put the RfC together, one thing we were all agreed on was that it should run a week, so that it didn't take too much time away from more central questions ... but we decided not to put that in the RfC, I think because we didn't want to force a cutoff in the middle of a good debate. At this point, I've added that question, if you'd like to vote on that one too. - Dank (push to talk) 14:04, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Dear Callanecc
I am very new to this and so forgive my misunderstanding on how to use the system. I am editing a page on behalf of and for the actor Brett Fancy and when saving my edits It has been saying that I am trying to blank the page which is far from my intention. You have sent me a final warning! I am so sorry that I cant work out why this is happening, and I guess i need help in this matter. I have been successful up to a point but when I tried to make some final corrections to links and grammar I got these warnings. Any help is appreciated Mark Newson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mark Newson (talk • contribs) 12:10, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Mark, firstly make sure you check out Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy to check you aren't breaching it. I noticed that you were making (at a very quick look) good edits to the article, however with a couple of your edits you removed all of the content, and when I reverted it put the article in the format is was in before you edited it. The Tutorial should help when it comes to advice on how to edit, make sure that for any changes you do make, you cite a reliable source especially on biographies of living people. I hope this is helped you a bit, feel free to ask another question (etc) if you want. Just make sure you sign your posts on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). - Sorry I don't speak Polish. If you have evidence (or you're defending yourself from the claim of sockpuppetry) it needs to go at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Doncsecz#Comments by other users, try and be as descriptive as possible is this makes the CheckUser's, clerk's, and admin's jobs easier. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 13:39, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
Hidaspal is a another user, so it is not affected. I admit this puppet, but the Hungarian users also angree with me in the affair of the article Battle of Raab. DITWIN was the first who first broke the rule and provoked us. 81.183.47.44 (talk) 13:44, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
- You need to stop using multiple accounts and IP address, as I said on his talk page and on the SPI page I included Hidaspal so that others don't need to go searching. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 13:53, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
- All of these are the comments you need to make on the SPI page in the Comments by other users section. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 13:56, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
What will be the result? Blocking? 81.183.47.44 (talk) 14:01, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not an admin, and I am relatively new to SPIs, but I think the general principle for sockpuppets is to be indef blocked (IPs are very rarely blocked indef, but generally are blocked short-medium length). The blocking of the master depends on how the admin assesses the situation, and depends on the master's history and any comments they make defending (or attempting to explain their behaviour). Hope this helps, Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 14:07, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
CongLinks template
I read your message. Current links don't work. They will still be broken after the template is corrected, but it will be possible for me to correct them manually. Currently I have to delete the contents of the parameter and then add the new link along with all the verbiage manually, outside of the template. See Ann Kirkpatrick for an example. Thanks. 184.78.81.245 (talk) 00:16, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- I don't think there is much we can do about it. Because the URLs don't use the NYT format (that is, all that changed is the name) there isn't a uniform way of having the template work. For example each time the template is used the party and state, as well as the bit at the end "gIQAgHwPAP_topic" (in Ann Kirkpatrick's example) will be different. Or have I missed something, if you have a way around it, post the template code here and I'll test it out and if it works replace it. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 09:24, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, you missed it. None off the current links work. They're broken. There is no way to correct the template automatically so they will ever work again. I'm not asking for that, as it's impossible. What I AM requesting is a change so I can correct these manually. The url needs to be shortened. The description needs to be changed. The description is what should look like the NYT as the old description refers to WhoRunsGov and most of these are now Topics. I believe the phrase would be Collected news and commentary at The Washington Post Please look at the code for Ann Kirkpatrick and I think it will be clear. 184.78.81.245 (talk) 15:41, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

- As the administrator said on your talk page, you need cite reliable sources and gain consensus on the article's talk page before you even consider editing the page. Whether what you are adding is true or not, Wikipedia has a policy of verifiability, which states that content can only be added to an article if there is reliable proof. - See Wikipedia:Appealing a block and Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks. If you want to appeal it you need to do so with {{unblock | reason=your reason here ~~~~}} on the talk page of the account which was blocked with the account that has been blocked, NOT another account or IP. Alternatively you can submit a block appeal by email - see Wikipedia:Unblock Ticket Request System. Make sure that in your request (whether on your talk page or via email) you include a link to the Sockpuppet Investigation and this page. Above all you need to STOP using multiple accounts and IP address as this is against Wikipedia policy and will probably lead to further blocks. Hey
I created an article "Raja Easa Saleh Al gurg" and it was rejected several times so I asked for this article to be deleted and it was deleted but in the deletion review page one user put a comment which to be considered as harmful to my image and my company image that's why I want the user's comment to be deleted . since now when I search for the title of my article in google for example it will display the wikipedia link and it will take me to the article page but it will say that it's deleted and that person comment will be visible for everyone.
I don't understand how this user's judgement can be published to everyone !
please help in this . what I need is to delete the article which was done but why that comment is still visible ?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Esagcom (talk • contribs) 12:49, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
- The comment was made in a deletion discussion, which is a record of why the article was deleted. I'll ask around and see what can be done about it. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 12:58, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
- actually the article was deleted because I "as the author" asked for deletion and I added the speedy deletion code . It wasn't deleted because of that comment .
- this is so embarrassing and needs to be removed . nothing from what that user said actually happened . he got a bad image about it and he simply put the comment and I respect his comment but no need to it to appear ! specially when people are searching for this article this is the only thing they can see ! article is deleted because of what he said !
- I really need your help in this as i said earlier I don't want to post the article any more . that's fine by me .
- thanks a lot for your help and time . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.50.35.40 (talk)
- No worries, we'll see what happens. The issue is that the discussion was created before it was tagged for speedy deletion (which is how it was deleted), so that discussion had already started. Out of interest why did you ask for it to be deleted? On another note, make sure that you sign your messages on talk and discussion pages by typing four tildes (~~~~) after what you write. Regards, Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 13:10, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Callanecc, thanks for the message. The deletion discussion is not going to be deleted at the request of this user. The comment (actually the deletion rationale) contains nothing that would require oversighting, and (non-lawyer's opinion) is not actually defamatory to the company; it simply notes that the nominator believed multiple accounts were used to introduce promotional material to Wikipedia. That said, I see no harm in leaving it deleted from the visible page; it's available in the history and since the discussion was closed for an unrelated reason it's not pertinent to an understanding of the deletion. Yunshui 雲水 13:12, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, as to why it still shows up in Google - that's normal with deleted articles. After deletion, it's automatically noindexed, but Google usually takes a few days to catch up. After a week or so, it will no longer appear. Yunshui 雲水 13:15, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

- Yeah that's what I thought, hence why I wanted him/her to tag bits as citiation needed. Then I was going to guide the discussion toward how it can actually be improved and exactly what needs to be fixed. But it seems they were a bit too eager. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 08:24, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
- Eager is a good word. I am more inclined to suggest that the editor felt no-one would look any more and failed to keep a straight bat. What on earth is it with this article? She seems to be a middle of the road soul singer with adequate but not hugely mainstream reviews and a penchant for religion. More than that she is not! Ah well. New Page Patrolling
Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. I noticed that you tagged Medalle with CSD A1 (a very short article lacking sufficient context to identify the subject of the article). I'm just letting you know that this article should have been tagged with WP:A3. Accurate tagging is essential because it enables us to build data profiles from the categories that are populated by these templates. Please see WP:DELETION in order to learn about the difference between these criteria, and if you need help don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:04, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, I always consider A1 to be the more 'friendly' (for lack of a better word - and it's not exactly what I mean) of the two. And where I'm not sure which the best between A1 & A3, I usually go for context. I am usually fairly conservative in what I consider to be content after having been told off for it by admins in the past. But I see what you mean with this one (and thanks for not deleting it so I could have a look), out of interest what do you see as the difference between A1 & A3? Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 08:17, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
- I actually believe the difference between the two to be perfectly explained in the documentation. Leastways, having tagged tens of thousands of articles over the years and deleted about 3,000 as an admin, I never had any problems with the difference. Ask users such as Ryan Vesey, Theopolisme, and ElectricCatfish for their opinions, and if they also find the two criteria to be vague, let me know and I'll set about doing something about it - it won't need an RfC, I'll just rewrite the sections of the documentation to make them easier to understand. Cheers. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:33, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, I don't think they are vague. I just think that after I got told off for tagging an article with A1 which the admin thought should have been A3 (which I still don't agree with) I tend to be a little hesitant to use it (as soon as I get a little bit of doubt I go A1). In this case, however I can see that it should have been A3, so thanks for letting me know and talking about it. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 08:38, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. I noticed that you passed Madison Rising without tagging for, or removing the references to disallowed social networking sites. For more information, please see WP:RS and if you need help don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:56, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Kudpung, from what I saw the reference to Myspace wasn't being used to reference anything which could have been considered controversial. It looked (to me anyway) that the Myspace page was being operated by Alex Bodnar, and I was under the impression that when these two were satisfied that the reference could be used. Plus I didn't know about Template:self-published, so thanks for letting me know about that. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 08:10, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Washington Post link is still broken
Hi, I noticed that you were the last one to edit the Washington Post link for Template:CongLinks. Unfortunately, the Washington Post link is still broken. I've removed it until it can be fixed. It looks to me like the link is different and changes for every person (see Dana Rohrabacher, Elizabeth Warren), so we may have to remove Washington post from the link list. Can you have a look to see if you can figure it out? mucho gracias FurrySings (talk) 02:50, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi Callanecc. I'm leaving you this message because you have previously been involved with Counter-Vandalism, and may still be. The Academy project has been restructured, placing responsibility for it on the trainers themselves and as part of the process I am trying to find out who is still interested in remaining as active trainers.
In future, there will be no clerking or coordination, so If you are still active and can respond to requests from students within around 48 hours, you need do nothing until a new student contacts you on your talk page. Nevertheless, if your status changes, please update your entry on the table of active trainers at the new WP:CVUA page. If you no longer have sufficient time to commit to the CV training project, that's fine, but please remove your name from the active list. While on your travels however, should you come across users who are having a hard time with their reverts, don't hesitate to send them a link to the CVUA. Thanks, and happy editing! Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September. Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the August 2012 competition, and prizes will be issued soon. The September 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The October 2012 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries and to vote. – Your drive coordinators: Stfg, Allens, and Torchiest. Spanish anon user (or vandal, not quite sure still)
Hi there CALLANECC, AL from Portugal here,
i see that your warning did not have any effect, this chap (please see here https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:83.37.167.158) is still going at it, removing entire sections just because (even if some club squads indeed are outdated, i'll give him that), including in the places where he has been warned, per his talkpage.
Thinking that language may be a barrier, i have sent him a message in Spanish (his mother tongue, or hers) urging them to: 1 - update the squads if they have the info (they must, they hail from Galicia and all they edit are Galician clubs/players) but not to remove the sections per se; 2 - respect our work.
If that does not do it, sincerely don't know your opinion. If it was up to me i'd surely block. Keep it up --AL (talk) 21:54, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother, was only trying to help. --AL (talk) 13:05, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- No worries, sorry for not replying, I've been really busy. Thanks for letting me know, but by the time I saw this the person had stopped anyway. Good idea sending them the message in Spanish. I'm not an administrator so I can't block, but I would have warned them a few more times, before asking for administrator assistance. Thanks for the work you put in on trying to sort this out. When In Rome (band) page
Hi Callanecc:
The above named page is unbelievably biased towards a band that contains only the keyboard player from the original lineup. He has fraudulently trademarked the name 'When In Rome' in order to attempt to stop the original vocalist writers from performing.
Please also see Facebook page which totally repeats the Wiki page and again, unbelievably lists the fraudulent website of an ex member. Please see: http://www.facebook.com/pages/When-in-Rome/112746302071825?fref=ts
As you may know, we are in dispute with the ex member who was terminated from When In Rome in 1991. Please can I ask that you ether replace the non-official website on the FB site to: www.wheninromeofficial.com or if you feel it more fair and appropriate, please list no website at all.
When In Rome are still touring through 2012 and 2013 with original vocalists, Clive Farrington and Andrew Mann so the reference "were an English new wave trio" is totally misleading. Current members of the official When In Rome are: Clive Farrington, Andrew Mann and Rob Juarez. Please can I ask that you take this bias away and lets try to be neutral?
Thank you for all your help with this and I look forward to a fairer representation on Wiki and FB.
Kindest Regards

Business Exit Planning
Dear Callanecc,
I received a message from you about my article, Business Exit Planning. It seems the page redirected to Succession Planning; however, Business Exit Planning is somehow different than the Succession Planning. the definition of succession planning on Wiki: "Succession planning is a process for identifying and developing internal people with the potential to fill key business leadership positions in the company.", hence, it is related with developing internal people at a company. However Business Exit Planning is not restricted by just training internal people in a company and it has options to sell the company to financial investors (maybe inexperienced investors in the business) or strategic players. It has also options for M&A activities and even bankruptcy!
Business Exit Planning has a broader definition than Succession Planning. Wikipedia has to have a separate page for Business Exit Planning.
I would like to ask you to 'remove' the redirection of Business Exit Planning to Succession Planning.
Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by FinancialXpert (talk • contribs) 13:25, 16 October 2012
- Firstly make sure you sign comments on discussion pages by typing for tildes (~~~~) so other editors know who is making which comments.
- My suggestion would be to create a new section in the Succession planning article and explain Business Exit Planning making sure to cite reliable sources. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 12:40, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

- You need to establish a consensus through discussion on the article's talk page. That means you need to propose what you want added (exactly what would be added, including citations to reliable sources) and say why you want the article changed, that is, that's wrong with the current version. - I've found the full journal article, I'll have a read through it, and write a section for the article. The reason we are quite skeptical of it is that it's quite a big claim is is pretty sure to meet with some objections. But I'll read the article and go from there.

- Hi Rcsprinter123, thank you very much for the offer. It's something I'm considering going for in the next few months, once real life calms down a bit. When I do, I'll let you know. But thanks very much for the offer. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 04:47, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Reverting
Hi, Callanecc's. I can see that you reveted what i just did with the List of educational institutes in Meghalaya section but putting the page back and I just wanted to tell you that I did that because I just created a new page under the name Education in Meghalaya so i just thought that it would be appropriate for the page you reverted to be in the new page i created because it both points to the same sense that it's about education in Meghalaya. And besides the page i created is because the Meghalaya page was too long so i just thought that the 'Education' topic should be in a new page. two of those topic having different would not look good, according to my perspective. So that's all i wanted to say please leave me a message back. Thank you for sharing your moment with me. Joseph Fanai (talk) 13:44, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
- Ok I've redirected List of institutions of higher education in Meghalaya to Education in Meghalaya, however you should keep a close eye on both articles as well as Talk:List of institutions of higher education in Meghalaya and Talk:Education in Meghalaya, in case another editor would like to discuss the change with you. Also make sure you find reliable sources (and cite them to support the content you have added to Education in Meghalaya. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 13:54, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

I'm Sorry
My brother hacked into my computer. I am a lover and user of wikipedia and would never make an edit like this. I'm so sorry, Naomi — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.246.28.148 (talk) 09:26, 23 October 2012 (UTC+11)

Thank you!
Hey Callanecc,
Thanks so much for your help on my article: Atlantic Food and Horticulture Research Centre! Things are now straightened out except for some much required cleanup. One particular thing that has been pointed out to me (and that I can't seem to find the solution to) is the misspelling and lack of retrieval date for footnote 11. If that is accomplished with the reflinks tool, I seem to be missing it... If you could point me in the right direction it would be very much appreciated. I've learned about the 'convert' and 'as of' templates and have made use of them, and am presently working on improving the header and overall layout.
Anything you may wish to share with me is heartily welcomed! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skinnzy (talk • contribs) 03:41, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- No problem at all, I fixed the retrieval date and the spelling, have a look at the links to see how. I'll leave you to it, and suggest (or make changes myself) as I go. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 07:33, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
article Raja Al gurg
Hey Callanecc I just want to check regarding the article "Raja Al gurg " which you created . I want to know your source of information as I am working in Mr.s Raja's company and previously we were trying to create an article for her and it was rejected and the result was that I asked for it to be deleted and it was deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.50.7.24 (talk) 06:42, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hello again, all of the sources I used are referenced in the article. Is there anything more specific I can help you with? Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 07:33, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
I can see the references my question is this article has been created based on whose request ? any one from Mrs Raja 's side contacted you to created or it was an initiative from your side ? and if I want to add to this article how can I do that ? thanks alot — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.50.7.24 (talk) 08:20, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- It was my own initiative. Anyone is free to edit Wikipedia, as long as their edits are verifiable (that is cited to reliable sources). See Help:Editing and Wikipedia's editing policy. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 09:05, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
ok thanks alot that's a great thing atleast it's good to find the article after I went through several rejections for my article but it's good to see the article uploaded there. I want to check if it's possible to help me in modifying your article and adding to it since as I told you I am working in Mrs. Raja's company and I have information about her which can be added but I am worried that I will get the same comment that I am advertising for her , that comment was the reason why I asked for my article to be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.50.7.24 (talk) 09:21, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Well if you'd rather you can suggest changes on the article's talk page (Talk:Raja Al Gurg). If you let me know, I'll have a look tell you how to improve them (if required) or I'll let you know they are fine add as you wrote them. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 12:37, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
Atlantic Food and Horticulture Research Centre
- My work in page Atlantic Food and Horticulture Research Centre was that I history-merged Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Atlantic Food and Horticulture Research Centre to Atlantic Food and Horticulture Research Centre. I did not change its text as I history-merged. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 08:00, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, I saw your attempts to remove all of the junk the history merge took with it. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 08:02, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Benito Mussolini
Cannot be painted black enough, but the article on him does not even try. It does the opposite and starts off by attempting to brag on him. I am determined to change this approach. -- Brothernight (talk) 08:13, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Mussolini again
- Hallo Callanec, I am bothering you because the admin whom I contacted yesterday did not react yet to my request of having a look to the article. Therefore, I was thinking to bring the issue to a noticeboard, but I am undecided among WP:ANI, WP:AN3 and WP:NPOVN. Since I have no experience about noticeboards (I am a really pacific guy :-)), I would like to ask you what do you think is the most suited NB for this case. Thanks, Alex2006 (talk) 13:10, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Alex, Brothernight has been reverted again, so my suggestion would be to wait to see if they reverts again. If they do then I'll have a think about which noticeboard - or I'll reach out to a couple of the admins I know and see if they can help (or at least direct us to a noticeboard). Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 02:32, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hallo Callanec, yes, I just noticed it, and agree with you. The main problem with this article is that it attracts the so-called "sublime moralists" like flies to honey and, by contrast, people which try to rescue it are considered (also by many admins) nostalgic (which, at least in my case, is totally untrue). Bye, Alex2006 (talk) 05:12, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

180.190.163.99 (talk) 13:27, 25 October 2012 (UTC) Dear Sir, I don't remember editing this page but that of the Galaxy Y page? do I have someone with the same IP address? 180.190.163.99 (talk) 13:27, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- If you have a look here you can see that is was certainly IP address 180.190.163.99 which made the edits. It is likely that your IP address is dynamically assigned, which means it is periodically assigned to different people. Being about to track your edits is one of the reasons why it's a good idea to create an account. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 02:36, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
