Question from Zeadnws87 (01:29, 28 December 2023)
Hi there. I am trying to generate a page for myself. Is that something possible that one can create ? --Zeadnws87 (talk) 01:29, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

can you help me?
Hi, Ca,
I’m afraid this day is not the right one to contact you, but I hope you will answer me soon.
I’m a beginner on wikipedia. I submitted a first article about a theater play, but it was declined in August 2023. Since then, I have been working hard on it and I was kindly helped by experienced wikipedians, among them, Jumbolino and Casualdejekyl who was an Afc reviewer, like you.
I followed all their suggestions , above all , all the afc reviewer’s advices and corrections. So, my draft was about to be submitted again but this afc reviewer retired before I could get a final proofreading.
So, please, could you have a look at it ? Draft:A Yellow Butterfly Called Sphinx
As I told you, I have been working at this first draft for months and months and if it is acceptable at last it would be for me a fantastic way to start 2024 with wikipedia ! But in this case, my problem is : I don’t know how to edit the draft !
I am looking forward to hearing from you and I wish you, CA, a happy new year.
Philbobison https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:A_Yellow_Butterfly_Called_Sphinx Philbobison (talk) 09:51, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, happy new years to you too!
- I think synopsis section needs a rewrite. It feels like it belongs in a book cover rather than in an article. To be frank, plot sections should be written in a rather boring tone, and kept under 700ish words. See Nineteen Eighty-Four § Plot for a good example. In addition, long extracts from a copyrighted work should be avoided unless it is a major point of commentary/analysis between critics. It would be good to get more critic reviews in as well. Vagueness such as "Some critics" should generally be avoided when attributing opinions.
- Otherwise, it's a promising draft, I hope you will continue working on it. :D Ca talk to me! 13:02, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hello CA, many thanks for your quick response and for your help. I admit to being a little taken aback and discouraged because I followed the advice of several Wikipedians but your advice is not the same. Since you are an AFC reviewer, I am willing to follow all your suggestions until the page is finally editable. As you will see, I have already worked at it: I deleted the extract and made the summary and analysis shorter and more neutral. Would you help me again by telling me if my draft is now correct? Once again, Happy New Year! Sincerely Philbobison.
- PS Draft:A Yellow Butterfly Called Sphinx Philbobison (talk) 08:44, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you for enthusiasm! You mention that my advice is not same compared to other reviewers. Can you elaborate on the discrepancies?
- The summary is much better in terms of tone, but coherence could be improved. To be honest, I could not follow the storyline based on the re-written summary. In addition analysis like "Spectators may believe that they will then discover a first adolescent love; but the end of the play, with its twists and turns, is unexpected." should be attributed to a specific critic/publication.
- Statements like
The play can be seen like "an epistolary police investigation".
should have something like "According to [critic's name], blah blah" or any phrasing that mentions the name of the critic. - Thanks! Ca talk to me! 08:53, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hello CA,
- I hope you had a great New Year. Thanks for continuing to help me. As you will see, I tried to follow all your suggestions. As for the discrepancies, they specially concerned the extract . A Wikipedian kindly helped me and he thought it was better to add one. A lot of advice was also given to me by the AFC reviewer Casualdejekyll and our correspondence was in her "history". But she is now retired and didn't answer my last message.
- Is this version better? I look forward to your impressions. Sincerely. Philbobison

Question from OllieMillsOfficial (01:25, 1 January 2024)
When adding links to pages, for example if there was to be an obscure topic that went under multiple names, and it gives me the option to link it to the page with a different name or to link it as the name stated in the original article redirected to the page of another title, (but of the same content). Is it better to choose to go with either? --OllieMillsOfficial (talk) 01:25, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

- Yes the current version much better, especially the analysis section is better now. I think the draft needs some copyediting for tone and clarity — some sentences are hard to follow. - Hello, Ca,
- Thanks for your response. I appreciate your help. A question: you write: "somme sentences are hard to follow." The problem is that English is not my mother tongue and copy listing seems very long and difficult to me. So if the sentences and imperfections are few, please could you tell me what would be correct ? you know i'm entirely confident in your experience and your corrections would be welcome indeed ! In fact, I have started this first draft in June 2023 and i am impatient to have it published at last. Thanks before hand for what you can do. Sincerely. Philbobison. WP:ANI move proposal.
Hi, I just closed this move request per WP:SNOW. Although this might look a bit premature, my feeling is that many editors will see this and add negative comments along the lines of "leave it alone, it isn't broken, don't fix it", such as this old example. I'm quite amenable for a discussion about the scope of ANI and how it should be presented, but I think that needs a much wider Request for comment on the Village Pump. As ANI is a widely-used page, it needs as much input as possible, so a lengthy RfC would be preferable than a simple requested move discussion. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:29, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Request on 23:56:11, 6 January 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by Landportproductions
Respectfully, I disagree. There is more information about Josh Greene (filmmaker) available online then there is about Waves Apart. While the film warrants its own page, there is important information about the filmmaker from the 14 references that can be brought into the biography. Thanks!
Landportproductions (talk) 23:56, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Landportproductions Hi, I re-checked the references and most appears to discuss the film while giving next to no information about the filmmaker himself. Writing articles about obscure figures like this one can lead to privacy, neutrality, and verifiability issues. To me, it seems like much of the information in the article can be incorporated into a hypothetical Waves Apart article. Thanks! Ca talk to me! 00:06, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- The articles written by USC, OC Register, San Clemente Times, La Morinda Weekly, and the Eye on Annapolis all interview the filmmaker directly as Greene details his filmmaking journey and career. Per your note, I've provided more information from those articles into the biography.
- Likewise, I've added more references that are available online.
- Furthermore, additional references I am adding discuss Greene's upcoming film and its coverage in the press. Therefore an article about the filmmaker covers both notable projects.
- Of course, an additional Waves Apart article would be useful, which I can create once Greene's biography is approved.
- Thank you for your help in getting this published. Peacefulprogressive (talk) 00:50, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- I see what you are talking about. However, interviews are not usually considered independent from their subject since newspapers rarely do any fact-checking or edit people's words on interviews, and local newspapers like to churn those out indiscriminately. Ca talk to me! 22:31, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- Correction. Only some are interviews. Others include limited quotes from the filmmakers. And the rest are written independently. Please let me know what else needs to be edited for approval. Peacefulprogressive (talk) 22:40, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- I see what you mean. However, I don't think there are enough information avilable to write a cohesive biography, but the draft has already been submitted for review for I'll leave it for another reviewer to decide. Ca talk to me! 22:47, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- There are published bios of filmmakers with an even greater scarcity of information. This one is growing with information, especially due to recent accolades.
- Since Greene has recently been recognized and archived by both the Student Academy Awards and the Cannes Film Festival as an Emerging Filmmaker and as a Director, that warrants a published biography.
- This is especially true of a filmmaker who has another project about to be released and is receiving mentions in the press. Peacefulprogressive (talk) 00:28, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- It could be that those "published bios of filmmakers" are not up to standards. Those awards seem promising, it could be that a decent biography could be made soon. However, right now, I feel like all the information could be merged to his most notable film. (WP:PAGEDECIDE has some guidance on this) Ca talk to me! 00:57, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- The film is about the filmmaker and his upbringing.
- The current film Greene is working on has nothing to do with the current film.
- If you don't know much about the film industry, perhaps allow other users to weigh in on the biography's content before rejecting again. Thanks! Peacefulprogressive (talk) 00:59, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- Has nothing to do with Waves Apart I mean. Peacefulprogressive (talk) 00:59, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- I do not know much about filmmaking unlike you so I can't comment on his achievements. But I believe the biography to be subpar and that's all. I do not plan on re-reviewing the draft to get a fresh set of eyes on it. I hope you understand.
- Also, if you are paid by the Landport Productions to edit, you need to follow the procedures listed at the help page WP:PAID. Ca talk to me! 01:09, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- I am not paid by any person nor entity to edit.
- The biography would be subpar if it included information not verifiable by the references.
- It is ok for an article to be concise, especially since people can contribute to it even after it is published!
- Every piece of information is factual and available online. It would be a disservice to Greene's biography and to Wiki to add unnecessary information purely to make the article longer.
- Waves Apart will also have its own article but that doesn't suggest that Greene's should not be published. He is a rising filmmaker in the documentary space and the biography respects that.

Re-contact from Philbobison
Hello CA,
I understand your scruples and your intellectual rigor which are to your credit. But my problem is that the AFC Reviewer who helped me first (Casualdejekyll ) ,abruptly removed herself from Wikipedia. I had followed her advice and removed a source that she had found unreliable. For the other French sources, she advised me to contact a Wikipedian (Jumbolino ) who knows French, what I did. He found they were acceptable. Here is what he wrote to me at the end. (I give you first the English translation but he wrote in French): “Hello Philbobison and sorry for this very late response. I read your article several times this morning. Although there are still some minor typos, I think you can resubmit the article for review. The author is notable and there is no reason why his best known play shouldn't have an English Wiki profile. Kind regards.”
Amicalement. Jumbolino (talk) 11:53, 29 December 2023 (UTC))
I suppose you can see all my correspondence with them:
On the other hand, have I told you that searching on Google I found a page about the Yellow Butterfly on the Italian Wikipedia:
https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Una_farfalla_gialla_chiamata_Sfinge
You can find that the sources that I cited. (my notes 3 and 4 are notes 11 and 12 on the Italian wikipedia). So can’t they be considered as reliable?
Ca, as I told you, I've been working hard and waiting to publish this first article for months. I'm afraid it will still need months and months if I submit it again. A solution might be for me to contact another AFC Reviewer for a fresh proofreading. But I will not do that without your agreement. Otherwise this would be, I think, indelicate towards you who kindly helped me. So what do you advise me? Can you recommend me someone? I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely. Philbobison. Philbobison (talk) 08:14, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for following my suggestions and being cooperative! I was not saying the sources was not reliable but that I couldn't read the sources since they were in French. Some were books that I had no ways of reading since it was not digitalized somewhere.
- However, I think the draft is in an acceptable state — I'll publish to the mainspace. Thank you! Ca talk to me! 09:16, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
Horace William Heyman
Dear Ca
You were kind enough to tell me that my Wikipedia article on Horace William Heyman had been accepted.
I note that you mention one or two ways to improve the article.
- You class the article as C, which means that it is "incomplete". But I do not understand in which way.
- You mention "inline citation". I do not understand what that means.
- You question my publication of the images, because I do not own the copyright. Two answers here are a) The pictures of Horace and Edith Heyman are probably around 70 years old, which I understand is the longest period of copyright.. b) The one of Horace with Princess Margaret may be longer, but it was widely published at the time, and could possibly be public property, and c) only I (as a relative of Horace William Heyman) have copies of the photos and they enhance the quality of the article.
- Finally, now that the article has been accepted, when is it likely to be officially "published" as an article, and how will I know?
Let me end by thanking you very much for the considerable care that has been taken in editing, improving and reviewing the article. It has certainly been a learning experience and encourages to edit, or create, more articles where my knowledge and experience might be helpful.
My best regards to you and the Wikipedia community
Ipandro Acaico Ipandro Acaico (talk) 18:16, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- C-class is not bad at all! It's in fact better than most of the articles in Wikipedia. You can see the criteria here: WP:C?. I didn't rate it as B class mostly due to the lack of referencing in certain paragraphs and some sentences being hard to read. Feel free to change the rating yourself if you feel the article has been improved enough.
- Inline citations refer to the blue numbers like this one:
- Blah Blah Blah[1]
- For your third question, I think you confused me for someone else. However, I can still give some advice. Copyright laws are a convoluted: here's just the American version. It's hard to know whether an image is available for use unless you know who the author is, when the image was taken, and the place where it was published. However, you marked all the images as "own work" which is not true. If you supply the correct details, I or somebody else who's better acquainted with copyright laws can help you.
- For the fourth question, I think you found that out already. :D
- I hope this helps!

- Dear Ca
- Thanks very much for your prompt and complete reply, very useful.
- I now feel like a "Wikipedian" and am inspired to create and edit more articles.
- On editing, I am obsessed with the idea of adding more categories to my Heyman article. I have looked at other articles with categories like Electrical Engineering or Electric Vehicles. I applied them to the Heyman article, to be told they do not exist. I then look up another website which permits me to "create" the category. How can/does this happen?
- Also on editing, I am looking at other websites which are quite good, for instance that they seem to be unaware of books on the particular subject. A particular case was my own headmaster a man called Walter Hamilton (at Rugby School). i decided to add the book as a "Reference", but is there any other way that one could/should "refer" to it. In this case, the book covers absolutely everything, and more, that is in the article.
- Best regards and thanks again
- Tim Ipandro Acaico (talk) 17:58, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- For the categories, it was simply a capitalization error; it seems like editor SuperMarioMan has already fixed the issue. I recommend using the helpful categorization tool WP:HOTCAT — categories are confusing to navigate.
- Since you would be citing the same book a lot, with differing page numbers, I recommend using the SFN citation method as described here Wikipedia:Citing sources § Citation types. This can get a bit technical so feel free to ask any more qeustions — either to me or the WP:Teahouse. Ca talk to me! 23:47, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Ca
- Thank you very much indeed. You have been most helpful!
- I note that the categories have been added to the Heyman article and hope they help to understanding the history of electric vehicles. It is interesting that, since the article was published two days ago, one or two sources have appeared from nowhere when I Google Horace Heyman. Quite interesting!

A new question from Philbobison
Hello CA,
Sorry to ask you again.
As I told you, I am very happy that my first article is now published thanks to your help. I hope to write other articles later. But an idea came to me: since A Yellow Butterfly Called Sphinx is approved by the English Wikipedia, can it be translated into other languages and published on other wikipedias? (I have seen, for example, that the page does not exist yet on the French-language Wiki); And if it is possible, how should it be done? Thanks in advance.Sincerely. Philbobison
Philbobison (talk) 06:30, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, every language version of Wikipedia have different guidelines, so I can't say for sure. However, your draft is pretty solid - I would be surprised to see the translated versions denied. - Hi and welcome to Wikipedia! You can edit almost any page by clicking on the "edit" button at the top of the page. Just make sure to add sources along with the facts you add. I recommend reading Help:Introduction to Wikipedia, it's very nicely laid out. Ca talk to me! 10:12, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
Question from Wiki8742568 (09:54, 18 January 2024)
Hi, thank you for your comments on the article Draft:European_Social_Simulation_Association. I have added further references and resubmitted the article for review. Also, there are 10 other Wikipedia articles that mention or refer to ESSA, which could directly link to this new article. Thanks for you support and please let us know in case further changes are required! Wiki8742568 (talk) 08:52, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for telling me this. My feedback is to replace most of the sources affiliated with the ESSA with independent sources. Many of the sources are to the organizations website or the products of people who are or have been involved in the organization. Non-independent sources can onyl be used to verify basic details like dates. By the way, is your account operated by two or more people? If so, the individuals should make their own account to edit (only one person can operate one account). Ca talk to me! 09:05, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Skibidi Toilet
The article Skibidi Toilet you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Skibidi Toilet for comments about the article, and Talk:Skibidi Toilet/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On this day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. 인용은 어떻게 하나요? --Azeem43554 (talk) 23:28, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Azeem43554 좋은 인용 튜토리얼이 여기 있어요: Help:Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor/1. Ca talk to me! 02:02, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

Welcome to the drive!
Welcome! It's always nice to see those from AFC coming to the drive. I think you might want to take a look at the instructions section for finding unreferenced articles and the LGBT's project listing of articles that are not cited. Anyways, I wish you good luck! You'll need it. CactiStaccingCrane (talk) 13:57, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Question from Boots0231 (18:15, 27 January 2024)
Hello! How can I create a Wikipedia page? --Boots0231 (talk) 18:15, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, WP:Your first article is a helpful guide to making articles. One tip I recommend is to find three best(reliable, in-depth, independent) sources about the thing you are writing about first and base your article on those sources. Additional details can be filled by other sources you can find. Good luck on your article! Ca talk to me! 02:02, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
DYK for Skibidi Toilet
On 30 January 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Skibidi Toilet, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Skibidi Toilet inspired the Generation Alpha slang "skibidi"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Skibidi Toilet. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Skibidi Toilet), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
