Information icon Hello, I'm Staraction. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Walter Payton seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. What was the problem. It was neutral and also a fact. I didn’t say he was the best. I said he was one of the best, and most football fans would agree with that. Brochuggles (talk) 03:49, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The sentence right above it said 'greatest football players of all-time', that pretty much covers the running back position. Being that it's the only position he played. Bringingthewood (talk) 04:46, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that. But he actually played more than one position. He would also play as a receiver, returner, punter, and even quarterback. I also feel he deserves to have he did specified. In most people’s opinions he his the greatest running back of all time. I made a neutral addition saying he was of one of the greatest. I don’t see the problem with addition. Too much writing on the page .. many players will then have the greatest player .. greatest linebacker ... best father in the world. It's understood and will probably get reverted in the long run. I've seen it before. Then you'll have to add references, which is more work. It's really not worth it. Like the Chinese Dragon... best to leave things to the imagination. Bringingthewood (talk) 04:59, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bringingthewood but his nickname was the Chinese dragon that is important. Fine I understand the Walter Payton thing, but there was nothing wrong with adding a player’s nickname. It’s like calling getting rid of “Mean” for Mean Joe Greene. Von Millers nickname was the Chinese Dragon look it up. Brochuggles (talk) 05:02, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I get that. But I have seen nicknames being removed that are not really noteworthy. Mean Joe Greene is a household name. If you add a reference with Miller's nickname, I'll leave it alone. You will need to add a reference. I personally know of at least three other editors who have reverted things like that. Just giving you a heads-up. I understand that I’m sorry. I’m new to this and I just want everyone to know everything about this game. I appreciate your help. Thank you. Brochuggles (talk) 05:09, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome and I hear you 100%. It sucks to do dozens of edits one day .. and they're gone the next. Even if it's in good faith. I'm speaking from experience. Just do some things here and there, if they get reverted, find out why .. and it'll all work out in the long run. I wish you luck and try to have fun with it.
