Image Tagging Image:Stockdale High School.jpg
[edit]This image may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Stockdale High School.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 21:19, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
FBI profiling image
[edit]Did you notice the one that was put up as a possible replacement. As you can see from that edit it was deleted in favor of the FBI mugshots. I can't comment on the accuracy of the five groups so i have not pushed the issue but I do agree that the FBI one is in poor taste. David D. (Talk) 06:12, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

User:66.122.0.126 Page
[edit]Hello there, I have noticed the above page which you have contributed a lot of image files to. Unfortunately this is generally against wikipedia's guidelines. What Wikipedia is not gives good guidance as to what is and is not allowed - your image uploads on the IP user page all fall under WWIN section 1.5, "a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files". The various items you have posted there are in no way useful to the enclyclopedia, and so in accordance with policy have been nominated for deletion. Please feel free to comment on the deletion nomination at the Nomination Page. I hope you understand the reasons for this nomination and I encourage you to read through the Policies and guidelines pages so you are fully aware of the do's and don’ts of WP (in regard to this, and your posting of torrent links dealt with above). Best wishes.SFC9394 00:28, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yo, you guys contribute stuff to your user pages, why can't I contribute to the User:66.122.0.126 user page. In my oppinion this is not an article, so I have more freedom to do stuff to that page. I also understand your side of the argument. I will not upload more images to that page, But can it be kept the way it is for now? PLEASE? --BorisFromStockdale 06:15, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- Three points Boris.
- 1. A user generally should only be editing his/her user page, not another users page.
- 2. IP user pages (as opposed to signed up user pages) are pretty much not meant to be used - the only stuff that should be on them is a notice to other editors to say if it is a public IP that hosts many users, or to note if the IP belongs to an institution (and the talk page of the above IP page already has such a notice).
- And 3. Even if all the stuff was on your page, not on the IP page, it would still be breaching policy. It is probably worth your while reading Guidelines on User Pages - that lets you know the do's and don'ts. Generally the stuff on your UP should only be giving an introduction to yourself, your interests and hobbies etc. and/or things useful to WP work, such as WP shortcuts, a sandbox, current articles that you are writing etc. Normally a good deal of leniency is given on what is in a UP, but it should always connect into the work you are doing here in a fairly obvious manner (your user page is not a personal homepage) - uploading and posting scans of homework solutions is definitely outside the boundaries of what is ok. As I said above, you are most welcome to comment on your deletions at the nomination page, but I can't see any reason why they are needed for an online encyclopedia. I hope you can continue to edit WP in a positive manner - Best Wishes.SFC9394 11:40, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Please be more careful with your edits. Putting 1,000,000 digits in that article was a very bad idea, and there is a comment before the digits: "Please do not expand this without explaining why on the talk page". -- Meni Rosenfeld (talk) 21:08, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry dude! I was just testing it out. I will be more careful next time...(I probably sould have used a sand box)--BorisFromStockdale 23:43, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Okay. Just remember to make experiments in a sandbox (you can create your own sandbox if you'd like), and not to make major edits (such as deletion of large parts of an article, adding controversial information, or adding 1MB of text to an article) before discussing it first in that article's talk page. -- Meni Rosenfeld (talk) 07:12, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
Browser?
[edit]So, as I wondered at User talk:72.36.198.186.... what browser are you using that inserts these backslashes all over the place? Melchoir 00:20, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- As I told you in the User talk:72.36.198.186, I am using a normal I.E. 6 browser through a hideus.com proxy. I do not know what it is doing, but I can stop if it is disrupting Wikipedia operation. By the way, that proxy should probably be blocked in the wikipedia no proxies policy.
- Oh, so it's not the browser at all; I missed that. Yeah, I'd personally appreciate it if you could avoid using the proxy, since it causes work for other people to clean up the backslashes. Technically, it should be blocked, but we don't have to raise a fuss. The talk page already identifies it as a proxy, so if someone starts vandalizing on it, it can be blocked then. Cheers, Melchoir 00:59, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Image copyright problem with Image:T-55_icon.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:T-55_icon.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 13:55, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Signing your comments
[edit]Just wondering, how do you sign your posts in talk pages? Are you using ~~~~? I'm asking because your signature doesn't include a link to your user page. Is that on purpose? -- Meni Rosenfeld (talk) 17:01, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- I am using the default signature button under the editing menu "your signature with time stamp": --~~~~? It is not on purpose; I will investigate this further... --BorisFromStockdale 19:58, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- The raw signature was checked under my preferences window... This removes all auto links... I unchecked it.--BorisFromStockdale 20:13, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
I figured it would be something of this sort... Perhaps you would also be interested in adding a link to your talk page by checking the raw signature box and putting something like:
- -- BorisFromStockdale (talk)
- -- BorisFromStockdale ☎

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Age3 gameplay.JPG)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Age3 gameplay.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Image source problem with Image:WRTBwlog 1.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:WRTBwlog 1.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:58, 29 December 2007 (UTC). Image copyright problem with Image:WRTBwlog 1.gif
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:WRTBwlog 1.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of WRTbwlog, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/25/38281-cool-bandwidth-monitor-wrt54g-gs-routers.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 20:02, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Copyright problems
[edit]Hello. Concerning your contribution, WRTbwlog, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material without the permission of the author. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://hetos.de/bwlog.html#desc. As a copyright violation, WRTbwlog appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. WRTbwlog has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:WRTbwlog and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:WRTbwlog with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:WRTbwlog.
However, for text content, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. --lifebaka (Talk - Contribs) 20:30, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Complete Map.jpg
[edit]Image:Complete Map.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Complete Map.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Complete Map.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:23, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The file File:Frequency.PNG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unused, superseded by File:Sine waves different frequencies.svg.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 04:21, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
