Hi Bongwarrior,
After your temporary protection on this article, the vandalism has started back up again. Though, as I'm writing this, there is only one vandal edit, which was reverted by ClueBot NG. Mayble they'll be more vandalism after you see this message, but it may be worth while to keep an eye on the page. Thanks. 73.96.114.156 (talk) 20:53, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
Also, this IP that you recently blocked is a school IP. Just letting you know this in case if you want to extend and/or change the block that you made. Thanks, again. 73.96.114.156 (talk) 20:59, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. They are both probably fine as they are for the time being, but I'll keep an eye on them. --Bongwarrior (talk) 02:20, 20 August 2016 (UTC)

you mind removing the visibility of both the edits from this guy? Second Skin (talk) 20:52, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- Update, he has made an account and is doing it over here as well so it's suggested these edits be hidden as well Second Skin (talk) 20:56, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- I think I've gotten them all, good idea. --Bongwarrior (talk) 03:02, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
- might be a good idea as well to permablock the account too considering it's a vandalism-only account, thank you for your help btw Second Skin (talk) 05:03, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
- I'd be more inclined to let it go for now, unless this is some sort of ongoing thing. Only a few edits a few days ago. Very bad edits, but they are probably done. The revdel was the important thing. --Bongwarrior (talk) 02:35, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
Deletion
This is his manager, and you deleted content which we are adding. I have done this countless times and you have countless times deleted my articles for my clients. This is the worse service ever. How can some have articles and some have none. This is unprofessionalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gimmiethat1000 (talk • contribs) 01:05, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
- Some are notable. Some aren't. Please post your clients' resumes elsewhere, as that isn't really what this service was designed for. --Bongwarrior (talk) 01:15, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Bongwarrior. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Unblock request
I would like to request that my account be un-blocked from making edits. Last night, my friend decided to not only sign me up for this, but also make vulgar and unhelpful edits to two pages. I am very sorry for this lapse of conduct, and I hope that this matter can be resolved quickly. He has since been banned from using my computer, as he has done things like this in the past. -iamsetsuna/knowlage-is-life (Yes, it is not spelled correctly, I was not wearing my glasses when I tried to sign up on my own accord) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knowlage-is-life (talk • contribs) 18:10, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
- Why do you want control of an account you didn't create and has only vandalized? You are free to use this one to edit, or to create a different account if the misspelling bothers you. --Bongwarrior (talk) 18:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
The only reason I would want that account unblocked is because he (my friend) may have used my e-mail address. I'm not sure, and he's refusing to tell me. Sorry for the inconvenience of this whole situation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knowlage-is-life (talk • contribs) 20:53, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
- He probably didn't. An email address is optional, and not frequently used by the majority of users. --Bongwarrior (talk) 06:09, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

About the Article Mumtaz Qadri
The above article was once again defaced by a user with the IP address "92.12.221.94". Thankfully User:Bgwhite reverted the defacement. Considering this IP has defaced the said article NUMEROUS times, even when warned to cease doing so, is it possible to apply a permanent ban on them? --113.203.193.182 (talk) 11:50, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
- We usually can't do anything indefinite with IPs. I could have blocked them for a few months or so, but I thought indefinite PC protection of the article might be the way to go here, since it seems to be an ongoing problem. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:09, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

- It looks like you'd be best off trying to get support for it on the talk page. For performers with an extensive filmography, it seems to be a common practice to only list the performer's most notable appearances in the person's article, with the complete list at a separate article. --Bongwarrior (talk) 19:04, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
Blocking
You might as well block me for 3RR too! I deserve it. - BilCat (talk) 04:44, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

- Sure, it has been moved. --Bongwarrior (talk) 04:12, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Also, same problem over here the band Gut, it's written in all caps (like GUT) when there's literally no reason why it should be Second Skin (talk) 07:12, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. You're probably right, but the other language Wikis all use the uppercase title as well. --Bongwarrior (talk) 20:29, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
But according to MOS:TRADE we don't do funny spellings. Gut means nothing, this band name is not a acronym for anything. It's captalized for no reason, the only reason why it is on here is because it's a stylization that a fan made when he created the article. It's same reason why some people spell Kiss like KISS or spell Gwar like GWAR even though by grammar standards, their band name has no valid reason to be all capitalized and the articles for both those bands here on Wikipedia are lowercase as they should be. I don't get why Gut should be any different... Second Skin (talk) 22:34, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
- Also, there's websites like Discogs and this blog (among others) that just have it as Gut. I don't get why just because the other language counterparts of their article have this same mistake on their article name means that the English Wikipedia should have it as well. Second Skin (talk) 22:37, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
- I don't disagree with any of that, it just wasn't something that struck me as particularly urgent. --Bongwarrior (talk) 04:54, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
- So can I urge you to take the 20 seconds to the move page? Idk it just bugs me and my whole interest in Wikipedia has always been particularly cleaning up metal bands, so it'd be doing me another big favor from you as you've helped me the last couple of times. ~ Second Skin (talk) 03:55, 24 October 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Bongwarrior.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
Hello, Bongwarrior. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Kinda Aimless
Hello and good day to you. I'm returning to Wikipedia after an decade's long extended absence. I'm having difficulty finding the Community of active users to learn the new changes and etc from as well as finding someone to guide my actions and critic my anti-vandalism activities. Is there some new clubhouse somewhere that I don't know about? Seems like there are a lot of very active users out there but I can't find anywhere that is semi-current or maintained to reach out to truly active users forming a community. I've seen mentions of an IRC channel as well as CVU and the like, but when I look for people that are genuinely active or actually available to mentor, the list of users dries up quickly. I know you probably have better things to do but I was just curious if you'd be able to provide any thoughts or places I can go to get reconnected to the Community. Operator873CONNECT 08:25, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
- In the interest of full disclosure, I must also include the fact that I've only been trying to find people for about a week now. Operator873CONNECT 08:28, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
- Howdy. I'm probably not the best person to ask. Even when I was more active, I was never super active with stuff like that. If you'd like any advice about your edits so far, or any potential pitfalls to watch out for, I'd be happy to provide that. --Bongwarrior (talk) 21:21, 14 March 2017 (UTC)
Your recent protection
Hi! I was wondering what justified your decision to protect the page at Peter Beter at the ECP level rather than just SEMI? Was it because there were edits from VOAs in addition to IPs? Much appreciate an explanation! Best, ««« SOME GADGET GEEK »»» (talk) 01:56, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
- Several autoconfirmed accounts vandalized the article the last time it was semiprotected, prompting me to move it up to extended. That protection expired, so I went straight to extended protection the second time around. There wasn't anything but IPs the second time, but I thought it would be prudent to keep it at extended. --Bongwarrior (talk) 02:35, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

- Following a discussion on the backlog of unpatrolled files, consensus was found to create a new user right for autopatrolling file uploads. Implementation progress can be tracked on Phabricator.
- The BLPPROD grandfather clause, which stated that unreferenced biographies of living persons were only eligible for proposed deletion if they were created after March 18, 2010, has been removed following an RfC.
- An RfC has closed with consensus to allow proposed deletion of files. The implementation process is ongoing.
- After an unsuccessful proposal to automatically grant IP block exemption, consensus was found to relax the criteria for granting the user right from needing it to wanting it.
- After a recent RfC, moved pages will soon be featured in a queue similar to Special:NewPagesFeed and require patrolling. Moves by administrators, page movers, and autopatrolled editors will be automatically marked as patrolled.
- Cookie blocks have been deployed. This extends the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user if they switch accounts, even under a new IP.

The proposal was broadly supported, with further discussion required regarding what to do with the existing LTA database and defining access requirements. Such a tool/database formed part of the Community health initiative's successful grant proposal.
- Some clarifications have been made to the community banning and unblocking policies that effectively sync them with current practice. Specifically, the community has reached a consensus that when blocking a user at WP:AN or WP:ANI, it is considered a "community sanction", and administrators cannot unblock unilaterally if the user has not successfully appealed the sanction to the community.
- An RfC regarding the bot policy has closed with changes to the section describing restrictions on cosmetic changes.

2017 Congressional baseball shooting - "Attack", "Shooting"?
Hey,
Quick question;
When you did the ITN item about the baseball shooting, is there a reason you didn't use the wording discussed on the nominations page (i.e. In Virginia five people are injured and one killed in a shooting targeting Republican members of Congress and staff.)?
The reason I ask is because there was some significant discussion on the article's talk page about whether "attack" or "shooting" was the right right verbiage and consensus seemed to come down on the side of "shooting".
Regards, NickCT (talk) 16:21, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
- No specific reason, just trying to word it as concisely and non-speculatively as possible. This was both a "shooting" and an "attack", wasn't it? It sounded less clunky when I used "attack", so that's what I went with. --Bongwarrior (talk) 18:05, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
- re "This was both a "shooting" and an "attack"" - That was my initial reaction when this question was asked on the talk page. This being WP a long discussion then ensued about the exact meaning of "shooting" versus "attack".
- Anyways, I don't want to rehash that discussion, but the talkpage discussion seemed to reach consensus that "shooting" was the right verbiage.
- I guess we're now creating a wikilink from the text "attack" in ITN to the text "shootings" in the article title, which may seem a little inconsistent.
- Anyways.... Mostly a semantics debate. Don't think it's of huge consequence. NickCT (talk) 18:29, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
Instruction (song)
Hi User:Bongwarrior, can you be on the lookout for a genre or genres for Instruction (song) infobox please. The sources I've read indirectly call the song samba and dancehall, to me it sounds like a tech house song with production made to sound like dancehall and samba, thanks.--Theo Mandela (talk) 09:45, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
Delusional Signals
The page Delusional Signals has a source added, please don't delete the article I am still editing. Smj27 (talk) 08:41, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
- That article is a draft, so it isn't in any immediate danger of being deleted. Snake (Musician) is in article space, however, and it is in danger of being deleted again unless you can demonstrate why this musician is important or significant. The article doesn't currently indicate what makes this musician any more noteworthy than any of the countless other musicians who self-release their music. Notability is the main concern here - there doesn't appear to be any. --Bongwarrior (talk) 01:44, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
Hello I was in the middle of editing a draft of an article and was messaged before I had seven days to include sources. I have barely added one source for my article but you deleted it before I was even finished with my draft. please undelete my article, I was still on my draft. Thanks Smj27 (talk) 08:48, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

John Sykes page
Hello Bongwarrior, thank you for your feedback. As a newly registered editor, I probably need your support on this matter. In my opinion, John Sykes's page needed a few updates and some minor typo fixing. The content additions I made are 100% accurate and I am acting in the page's subject's best interest. I am also aware that further reference is needed to support them on the page. However, magazines like Rock Candy or Young Guitar do not have their monthly issues available online for easy access. One can only read them if they decide to buy the hard copy. I physically have those magazines in my private archive (printed on paper). Kindly advise how I reference such pieces of information, as I strongly believe they enhance the information currently on the page. Thank you Jennafs78 (talk) 23:19, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, this should be what you're looking for. The information doesn't need to be online, it just needs to have been published somewhere. --Bongwarrior (talk) 00:27, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

Calgary Flames and 2004 Stanley Cup Finals edits
Get off this site, you Deadmonton Coiler fan.
We all know that the Flames won the 2004 Stanley Cup. In the 3rd period of Game 6, the puck went in off Martin Gelinas' skate to put the Flames up 3-2. That stood as the Cup-winning goal.
Stop pretending you know hockey, Bongwarrior.

IP Autoblock
Strangest thing happened - I tried to edit Chris Sherwin this morning using my iPad and a message popped up saying I was unable to edit pages on WP due to an autoblock affecting my IP address. The autoblock of my IP address was used by user Bmillz as a vandalism-only account. Block ID #7766302. I was using my AT&T service on the iPad and was not logged in to the ADSL based wireless internet here at the ranch. I am in a rural area and I can't imagine any vandals being out here using the same IP address as my iPad but I guess it's possible. I'm clueless about how that stuff works. Can you look into this for me, please? Thanks in advance...Atsme📞📧 11:14, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
- I've removed the autoblock, so you should be good to go. I have only a tenuous grasp of the technological processes involved, so I won't try to explain it, but WP:Autoblock gives a good overview. I am sorry for the inconvenience. --Bongwarrior (talk) 20:06, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

- ACTRIAL, a research experiment that restricts article creation to autoconfirmed users, will begin on September 7. It will run for six months. You can learn more about the research specifics at meta:Research:Autoconfirmed article creation trial, while Wikipedia talk:Autoconfirmed article creation trial is probably the best venue for general discussion.
- Following an RfC, WP:G13 speedy deletion criterion now applies to any page in the draftspace that has not been edited in six months. There is a bot-generated report, updated daily, to help identify potentially qualifying drafts that have not been submitted through articles for creation.
- You will now get a notification when someone tries to log in to your account and fails. If they try from a device that has logged into your account before, you will be notified after five failed attempts. You can also set in your preferences to get an email when someone logs in to your account from a new device or IP address, which may be encouraged for admins and accounts with sensitive permissions.
- Syntax highlighting is now available as a beta feature (more info). This may assist administrators and template editors when dealing with intricate syntax of high-risk templates and system messages.
- In your notification preferences, you can now block specific users from pinging you. This functionality will soon be available for Special:EmailUser as well.
- Applications for CheckUser and Oversight are being accepted by the Arbitration Committee until September 12. Community discussion of the candidates will begin on September 18.

- Following a successful proposal to create it, a new user right called "edit filter helper" is now assignable and revocable by administrators. The right allows non-administrators to view the details of private edit filters, but not to edit them.
- Following a discussion about mass-application of ECP and how the need for logging and other details of an evolving consensus may have been missed by some administrators, a rough guide to extended confirmed protection has been written. This information page describes how the extended-confirmed aspects of the protection policy are currently being applied by administrators.
- You can now search for IP ranges at Special:Contributions. Some log pages and Special:DeletedContributions are not yet supported. Wildcards (e.g. 192.168.0.*) are also not supported, but the popular contribsrange gadget will continue to work.
- Community consultation on the 2017 candidates for CheckUser and Oversight has concluded. The Arbitration Committee will appoint successful candidates by October 11.
- A request for comment is open regarding the structure, rules, and procedures of the December 2017 Arbitration Committee election, and how to resolve any issues not covered by existing rules.

Did you mean to set full protection on this article indefinitely? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:53, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
- Yes. Before that, it was fully protected for about two and then one years, and then off and on for a few years before that. Since this is a just a disambiguation page, I was more liberal with the length than I would ordinarily be. Extended confirmed protection hasn't been used there yet, so that will probably be worth a look at some point. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:47, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
Chia Pets Indefinite Protection
Hello,
I see you have semi-protected the page for Chia Pets. I am aware this page was under persistent sock-puppetry, but this occurred in June 2016. Now that Wave 18 is out for the Chia pets, more edits and work should be added to further document the new products. I ask that you consider removing the protection set, as a years and a half is more then enough time to keep a page locked to users unconfirmed. (I was the first edit in 5 months). Thank you for your time and contact me if you have any questions.
WizardNinjaPirate (talk) 18:59, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
- I'd like to, but I don't think it would be a good idea. The problems there have been ongoing, and the user is still active. The disruption continued after a three-year semiprotection, a one-year semiprotection, and five other shorter protections. It's a worthwhile suggestion, and I'm often willing to try unprotection on something I've indefinitely protected, but I don't think it would work there and would just end up being re-protected. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:23, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
