Hello, BlitzShock

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Dan arndt, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Arkles Bay, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Dan arndt}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for asking about the Arkles Bay deletion. The article has been expanded by another user, and it is not needed to be deleted anymore. Thanks!BlitzShock (talk) 21:24, 26 November 2021 (talk) 21:24, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Twin Coast Discovery Highway moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Twin Coast Discovery Highway, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. noq (talk) 12:23, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for coming here on my talk page! This morning, I expanded the article, I included lots of info, about the route and added a table with major junctions in it. Only problem is that it's hard to find independent sources that have proper information about the Twin Coast Discovery Highway, so I've left it up to other users to find. I might try to find sources on my own and add some citations, at the moment I've put one citation on the page, only independent source I could find that has proper information about the road, so if anyone else could find anymore, that would be much appreciated. I've also applied for the draft to be published. Thanks! BlitzShock (talk) 21:24, 26 November 2021 (talk) 21:24, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Redvale, New Zealand

[edit]

Hi BlitzShock, welcome to Wikipedia. I just saw your new article on Redvale, New Zealand on the NPP live feed, and I'm looking at the sourcing of it. All articles should be able to pass our notability guides, for populated places this means showing either that they are legally-recognised populated places, or that there are notable because of multiple instances of significant coverage in reliable, independent sources. The sources in this article are:

  • The New Zealand topo map. This confirms that Redvale exists, but provides no evidence of legal recognition and is not significant coverage of the site. Maps cannot be used to show the notability of a topic per WP:NGEO.
  • Geotargit.com - this appears to be algorithm-generated content/a Google Maps skin. Google Maps is not a reliable source, nor are algorithm-generated-content websites.
  • A listing for a camera on the NZ Transport Agency website. This is evidence fo the existence of a camera, but not of the community.

As such I'm not sure this does meet our guidelines and maybe you can help me understand how it does.

Do you think there's some other sources out there that could be used on top of these sources to better highlight that this is a notable topic? Ideally the article should have something showing e.g., the history of this place, sourced to reliable news media, books, academic sources etc. I see from a Google Books search that Redvale was covered in the 1957 Wise's New Zealand Guide as a "rural locality", but I can't see the full listing, but maybe something can be done with that? This book says Redvale is home to one of Auckland's landfills but it doesn't look like significant coverage. Looking at news sources I see coverage of COVID-19 outbreaks in Redvale (especially that influencer party) and also coverage of the landfill site there (which appears to be getting full, and also appears to be a source of power).

What I'm getting here is that this probably is a notable topic, but this can't be seen yet from the sourcing in the article as it stands. FOARP (talk) 09:22, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for coming onto my talk page, and I will try to replace the sources with much better sources about it. It will be difficult to find sources, but I will try. There isn't a whole lot of information about Redvale unfortunately online, but I might see if I can find a book or something related to any sort of information that has Redvale information in it, and maybe add some information to the source that way. Thank you! BlitzShock (talk) 20:26, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I think if you just put in a bit about the fact it used to be a rural locality, is now home of half the rubbish in Auckland, maybe something about the COVID outbreak there, you'd be getting a long way towards having an obviously notable article. FOARP (talk) 20:56, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I might do that, and it'll improve it BlitzShock (talk) 22:25, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Good stuff. Like it - it tells you something about the place so you know what it is. There are way too many articles on Wiki about towns/villages that barely tell you anything. FOARP (talk) 14:53, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Word use in an edit

[edit]

Hi I saw the edits that you made to Greenhithe, New Zealand and I think that they are good useful edits. Thanks for that. However, I'm not really sure that it is appropriate to describe Greenhithe as a "western suburb" as it is located in the north and is generally considered to be a northern or northwestern suburb. I think that you may have been trying to say that it is in the western north shore, however, this isn't particularly clear and could perhaps be reworded. Cheers. MangoMan11 (talk) 10:45, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for pointing out the error I made, I will change it and I will try pay more attention to errors like that in the future. Thanks! BlitzShock (talk) 18:42, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for accepting my page! I spent a decent amount of time working on it and some other people did too. Thank you very much for turning it into a real page! BlitzShock (talk) 23:40, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Seems like an interesting route. There are other sources that could be added, but they're paywalled and I was not able to access, but hopefully some others local editors can to flesh it out. Have a great day. Star Mississippi 15:16, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Demographics

[edit]

I have noticed you adding links to religions and ethnicities to the demographics that I've supplied for New Zealand geographical articles. I have (rather belatedly) upgraded my script to do this automatically. An example can be seen at Stanmore Bay. If you have suggestions for further improvements, please feel free to suggest them (I'll watch your talk page for any reply). If I have inadvertently overwritten your improvements on other articles, let me know which and I'll regenerate the sections. Over the next year or two, I will be refreshing the demographics for the rest of the country from Hibiscus Coast south. I probably won't go back to refresh them again on area further north, until the 2023 census figures are available.-gadfium 04:36, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hey, sorry about that edit. At the time, I thought that they needed to be separated. The thing is now I know that they shouldn't, it should only be separated if there were multiple lead guitarists/singers/backing vocalists. I won't do it again unless it's an article where they properly need to get separated. BlitzShock (talk) 01:17, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's only necessary when you have some members who perform backing vocals and some who don't. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 06:12, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
