[edit]You've tagged this article for deletion on the basis of Dall not being a "charting" musician, but I reverted it. Wikipedia happens to contain many musicians with no charting albums and singles, but are noteworthy on a national or even world-wide level. If you could be more specific about your concern about the article, we can address it. Hawkbreeze (talk) 03:33, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

User:Bigdaddy1981, I noticed you tagged this article for deletion because it appeared to be an advertisement. If you could be more specific about your concern, I would be happy to try to address it. I think you may be using the advertisement tag too liberally, as this article is well referenced and doesn't speak of bargains or special offers. I have made several contributions to this article and have no affiliation with the company. In fact I'm not even one of their customers. I do have their jingle permanently in my head due to their heavy advertising. Clerks. 16:05, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

You recently tagged this as a blatant copyright violation, but I couldn't find where the violation was in the pdf that you linked to. I removed the speedy delete tag, but maybe you could be clearer if you still think this was a copyright violation. Sancho 03:20, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit]The article has recently come up for deletion and you voted for its deletion. I have since re-written the article and think that the article is now good enough to remain on Wikipedia. If you could have a look at the article and re-consider your vote it would be much appreciated. A-Dust 11:08, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
On the AfD discussion you said keep, based on notability. However, I just checked the sources: Two were articles in the Japan Times that promote the Union. Another was a classified ad, and the final one was an event listing. None of these satisfy WP:RS or WP:V and have been deleted. Please look through the history and check for yourself.
The three remaining sources are duplicates of those on the NUGW page. I don't know if you live, or have lived in Japan, but this person is simply not notable at all, and it appears that Union supporters are stuffing the page with bogus links to make him appear more notable than he actually is. I would like to ask you to reconsider your review of the page. Best regards. -- Sparkzilla talk! 17:02, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- FYI. Sparkzilla is the self-declared publisher of Metropolis magazine, which has included information negative to the union of which Mr Carlet is involved. SZ has been warned-off editing articles relating to his magazine and business interests by many admins in the ongoing discussion here due to his COI and WP:CANVAS activities. Nominated per suggestions at the atheists page. I actually don't care if it's deleted or kept but a discussion should be put through so that people don't complain about the removal of ethnic and religious lists like it. Bulldog123 20:27, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Welcome!
[edit]Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, offline publication, article improvement contests, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a variety of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill 23:47, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to WikiProject Plants!
[edit]Hi, and welcome to WikiProject Plants! Our scope includes any and all taxa of plants, botanists, and botany topics. We're glad to have you working with us on our project!
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- We discuss our project frequently at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Plants. You can watchlist it to keep up with the conversations.
Here are some easy ways you can contribute:
- Images: There are articles that need images. You can search Wikimedia Commons for images. When you find one, add it to the Wikipedia article in the taxobox and remove the "needs-photo=yes" parameter from the project banner on the talk page of the article. You could also help identify plant photos on Commons.
- Taxobox: We also have articles that need taxoboxes. See the taxobox usage guide for information on how to add a taxobox. When complete, don't forget to remove the "needs-taxobox=yes" parameter from the talk page banner.
- Stubs: Consider expanding one of our stubs or create one of our requested articles.
- Assessment: You could also help assess our unassessed articles.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page or the project at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Plants. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Rkitko (talk) 16:10, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Good work sleuthing Dirk Hooper, Daddy-o. For more potential related adventures, keep an eye on this.
SAS smells expensive. Does it do things you need to have done and that Arrr doesn't do, or does it have some other major benefit(s) for you? (I'm thinking of "getting into" Arrr -- which I'm sure will do all that I need it to do -- during summer, but don't want to find that I've rather wasted my time.) -- Hoary (talk) 03:26, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks(!). R will do just about anything you want and it has the advantage of being open source. SAS is extremely expensive and is inferior to Matlab in many ways --- specifically if you want to build linear non-regression models. However, it is the standard in both biostatistics and litigation consulting so I am stuck with it. I don't think you will waste time on R but you should be aware that you might have to use SAS in some professions. That said, its really easy to learn as its a high level 'language'. Nice catch with that source, I've changed my vote given we can now verify the information, and indeed that it existed. There does seem to be an ideological debate going on, but given the contrasting !votes, there's no way this article can be deleted by any admin, it looks most likely that it will head towards a no consensus and therefore be kept. - Toon05 22:09, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
[edit]Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Plant and Garden wiki
[edit]Hi Bigdaddy1981, I'm writing to you because you've edited many of the plant articles. I wanted to let you know about a plants-specific wiki site which you might be interested in contributing to. The site focuses specifically on how to grow any plant. Since Wikipedia is not a how-to, and articles are not allowed to be written as a guide on how to grow plants, two years ago I started http://www.plants.am - a wiki solely to address that topic (much like how wikitravel.org is solely to advise tourists visiting a country or city on their destination).
An example of how the sites differ can be seen immediately by comparing the Wikipedia article on Tamarind, with the Plants.am Tamarind article. Many of the articles currently on the site are placeholder articles taken from Wikipedia which are being rewritten from scratch, or shells of articles using new templates. However, a core of new articles like the Asparagus article (which still has a lot of room to grow) are being created, and the undertaking is huge. Perhaps you have some materials you can add which are not appropriate for Wikipedia. If you have any questions at all about this new resource, feel free to contact me on my user page here or on Plants.am. Thanks! --RaffiKojian (talk) 20:53, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Just as a courtesy, I thought I'd let you know that I've restored the conviction section to the article. That said, I'm extremely careful regarding BLPs, and as such, I've commented out the section from public view for now. I'll work on the article, and the section, to ensure the article does not violate our BLP guidelines, but removing that section, at the present time, would omit any mention that he was in fact convicted. User:Swancookie matter at AN/I
[edit]In yet another Clint Catalyst/buzznet related dispute today, User:Swancookie rather gratuitously impugned your good faith and insinuated anti-"LGBT" bias. Being fed up with the series of hit=and-run SPAs (named and unnamed) who attack rather than discuss, I've raised the incident at WP:AN/I. I doubt you want any more involvement with this tarpit (who would?), but I thought you should be alerted to the situation. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 02:18, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Someone is going to revert you. It won't be me, but I know that someone will. That said, the article was way too full of POV material, but it will be reverted. Steve Crossin The clock is ticking.... 23:27, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sure, it was such a damned mess though. The subject is notable; but the article was stuffed with unsourced claims, wild allegations and what seemed to be a meandering day-by-day account of the thing. Bigdaddy1981 (talk) 23:56, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
I see Steve got here with the same message as me, as it stood the article had a lot of serious problems but some info may need to be reintroduced back into it. GainLine ♠ ♥ 11:52, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Corrib gas controversy
[edit]Hi I'm doing a bit of work on this. In my opinion this should bbe the main repository of controversial info on Corrib. I've made a start. What do you think. i Think the project stage should concentrate on the technical, bbenefits etc. as per your layout. I think the Shell to Sea early details should be transferred to controversy and only a synopsis put there and the (garda)policing page merged.??? Cathar11 (talk) 22:26, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Collapsing abuse by SPA re vanity pages |

Eric Leiser[edit]Again, you have provided no proof as to why you took down the information for Eric's professional and solo art shows besides an ignorant notion that he was a student showcasing in a hallway at Goldsmith's. If you respect Wikipedia at all, you will let sleeping dogs lie. Jeffrey Leiser[edit]You have no proof in shutting down Jeffrey's page beyond a personal bias. If you respect Wikipedia at all, you will supply proof as to why you put that tag on there. Please be a human being and try to show some compassion. You're acting like a tyrant. P.S. on the "crystal ball claims" - Jeffrey has already scored music for a major commercial which hasn't aired yet. I assure you the link will be provided. And the "Seed" IMDb page was very recently taken down for unknown reasons. There is nothing fictitious on the page. The internet is not an "end all" - life occurs outside of it, you know.
Wikipedia editors decided to keep the Eric Leiser article and I suspect they will do the same for Jeffrey - which means a lot of wasted time on your part with no equanimity reached. The amount of hate involved in seeking the destruction of such simple pages for independent artists who have obviously achieved much in an already tough world and the time you have taken in attacking them causes me concern for you as a human being - I pray that you find peace within. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Albinofawn (talk • contribs) 05:37, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
PLEASE STOP CHANGING INFORMATION AND MUTILATING EVERY SINGLE PAGE OF ERIC AND JEFFREY LEISER AND RELATED PAGES - How dare you attack someone that way - you should be reported for abusing the system by changing every single page and removing valid information AGAIN and AGAIN. Stop wasting your time and get a life. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Albinofawn (talk • contribs) 06:37, 22 August 2009 (UTC) |
CPGB-ML
[edit]I object very strongly to the statement you made to the effect that "it is unclear what the party's relationship to the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) is and if it is designed to replace that party or merely to serve as its electoral vehicle." If you want evidence, take a look at the CPGB-ML YouTube page http://youtube.com/user/proletariancpgbml and you will see the following statement, "Proletarian is the newspaper of the CPGB-ML. It's also our registered 'electoral' name." Other organizations have also had to register under different names, such as the CPGB (PCC), which is registered as "Weekly Worker". So it's not unheard of. I take great exeception to the fact that you cynically imply that Proletarian has been registered as a political party to replace the CPGB-ML. Also, the membership is a non-issue. To be registered with the electoral commission it is a must to have at least three members (the minimum number of officers). It only has three member as it is a shell organisation. Do you understand what this means? If you do, then you will please desist from making changes to this article. Thank you. Troublemaker1949 (talk) 05:25, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
OK, I accept your compromise, let's let the article stand as it is.Troublemaker1949 (talk) 03:49, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
For your information, the following is from the "Registering a Political Party: A Brief Guide" published by the UK Electoral Commission in November 2008. http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0005/68315/Registering-A-Political-Party-Guide.pdf
(page 1) Your registered party name, and any party descriptions or emblems that
you register with us, will be protected so that other parties cannot use
them, or names that could be confused with them, on the ballot paper.
(page 3) We can refuse to register certain party names. Factors which we must consider when assessing a proposed party name include whether: • it may lead to confusion with the name of another party • it is obscene or offensive • it could mislead an elector as to the effect of his vote, or hinder their understanding of instructions for voting, if appearing on a ballot paper
And this is from "Guidance on Registering as a Poltical Party" published in December 2006 by the UK Electoral Commission. http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/__data/assets/electoral_commission_pdf_file/0004/13495/registeringpolparty_final_23814-6305__E__N__S__W__.pdf
(page 4) A party can register a party name and up to 12 descriptions, each of which is protected for the party’s own use for electoral purposes in the parts of the UK in which it is registered. The Commission can refuse to register a name or description if, in its opinion, it: • is the same as the registered name or any registered description of another party in the same part of the register • is likely to result in electors confusing the name or description with that of another party in the same part of the register
I hope this helps you understand why the CPGB-ML cannot register as the "communist party" and has to use an alternative name.Troublemaker1949 (talk) 06:57, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

OR tag at Badiou
[edit]It's not clear to me why you placed that tag on the article. The addition of a few {fact} tags in the body seems straightforward enough, and thanks for doing that. However, discerning exactly which section(s) you believe to be WP:OR is not easy for another editor. Perhaps a more specific section tag would be appropriate. Or most certainly, some sort of comment on what you perceive the issues to be on the article talk page would help. LotLE×talk 00:21, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
