Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, BesEmr. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 10:12, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Theroadislong, i need a help for creating article for my online magazine InfoKosova, i dont want to use this article for advertising or something els, just to have an article on wikipeda. How is this possible. whith who i need to talk about this. BesEmr (talk) 10:15, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Please see my response to your Teahouse post. You will need to formally declare your conflict of interest. If you derive income from your magazine or have otherwise monetized it, the Terms of Use require you to disclose that, see WP:PAID. 331dot (talk) 10:19, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- You will struggle to find anyone legitimate to help you do this here, but do be wary of potential scammers who will likely offer to do this for money. Theroadislong (talk) 11:25, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- My advice is that you go on about the business of your magazine as if Wikipedia never existed and you had never heard of it; if your magazine truly merits an article, a completely uninvolved and independent person will see appropriate sources and decide to write about it organically- a topic itself trying to force the issue of an article is rarely successful. 331dot (talk) 12:02, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your advice. BesEmr (talk) 13:24, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
