Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello, Benjaminkirsc, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some tips that you might find helpful:

  • Link to other articles with double square brackets
  • Add pictures from Wikimedia Commons using thumb for thumbnail|Left, right or center so it knows where to go|a meaningful caption|alt=a description for blind people
    • Example
    • Click here for an exercise in adding images to articles.
  • Now you know how to add pictures to Wikipedia, why not add your own? This shows you articles that are near you. Is there one without a picture or where you could take a better one? In many countries modern buildings are still copyrighted, but not in the UK and some other places. This is the upload page on Wikimedia Commons.
  • Add headings with ==double equal signs==
    • If an article has sections two editors can edit different sections simultaneously without edit conflicts. Four or more sections and you get a table of contents.
    • Here are articles where you can practice adding sections when you've finished splitting an article into sections you can delete from the top of the page.
      • ===subheadings are similar===
  • When you add information to Wikipedia please summarize things in your own words, and tell us where you got the information from in the following format
  • If you find unreferenced information on Wikipedia that you consider dubious or unlikely, first try to reference it yourself. If you know it is wrong, correct it, if you can't find a source then fact adds the famous [citation needed]. If, after a week no-one has referenced the information, feel free to remove it.
  • Double single quotes gives you Italic and triple quotes Bold.

Many Wikipedians organise themselves by subject area, we have hundreds of WikiProjects ranging from Arts to Zoology, and I'm sure there will be ones that fit your interests. A good place to look for them is Category:WikiProjects by topic, alternatively the talkpages of articles you are interested in may have links to relevant Wikiprojects.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this adds your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, visit The Teahouse, ask me on my talk page, or ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! The "soon on Android" edit on the NBA 2K19

[edit]

Hello sir, I've just added a line on October 12, 2018 by putting the "soon on" between the and & Android sentence in the NBA 2K19 page. I've made the edits prior to the game's release. Then on October 18, 2018, You edited the page concidering the game was already out on Android. So i checked out the Google Play Store, and you were right. The game was out. So thank you for letting me know. :) VictorTorres2002 (talk) 20:12, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Order of platforms in a video game infobox

[edit]

Hi Benjaminkirsc! I've noticed you performed changes to a few articles in which you ordered the platforms in the |platforms= field in alphabetical order. I'm just letting you know that consensus within the WikiProject for video games has decided that platforms should be listed in chronological order first (see MOS:VG#Infobox for more info). I have reverted the related edits. If you have any questions, please let me know. Regards. Lordtobi () 14:13, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mobile Suit Gundam: Try Age, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Arcade (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Benjaminkirsc. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

soapbox race world changes to need for speed world article

[edit]

I don't think soapbox race world qualifies as a relaunch. The core game hasn't changed. All that was done is to replace the server. An offline server (unrelated to soapbox race world) was made for NFS World back in July 2015. Version 1.7 (July 28, 2015 or sooner) was one of the early stable ones. All items are free (0 in game cash), so there's no need to earn cash. There may be a way to level up, but that isn't needed either. Treasure hunt is there, but doesn't reward anything, it works, but is useless. Version 1.7 turned the game into a truly offline game, where a player just adds and upgrades cars to a garage and runs events. Similar things have been done with prior Need For Speed games, using the LAN or TCP/IP modes in games, in some cases, maintaining a database to track records and stats. Currently the soapbox race world site is down, as well as it's link to the installer. Rcgldr (talk) 00:05, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Rcgldr, thanks for telling about Need for Speed World. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 00:07, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • You should probably undo your changes about soapbox race world. I tried a search for soapbox race world and the primary web site shows "under construction", and the only link at that web site is broken (404 error from github, the web page no longer exists). Since wiki articles need citable references, I don't know where you could find one for soapbox race world. Youtube videos don't count as citable refeferences. Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. creffett (talk) 00:05, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly gonna ask you to stop removing the Japanese release date. Whether it was developed in North America first means nothing, plus the Japanese release is sourced in the article. Thanks. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 22:03, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Developed in North America. See WP:VG/DATE and the categories. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 10:14, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all a good reason. The game was released in Japan, there's a Japanese date, and it's sourced within the article. I fail to see why it needs to be removed (not to mention you keep the European date when it wasn't developed there either). Namcokid47 (Contribs) 13:20, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
WP:VG/DATE, as I told you. It doesn't mean the American date is before Japan date. If you look at the link, you'll see what it is used. Namco Hometek is a North American developer. And yes it was released in Japan. But WP:VG/DATE was told "In the Infobox video game, release dates should be provided for primarily English-speaking regions, including North America, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand. If the video game is first released in a non-English country, commonly in Japan, then that should also be stated. Region releases (North America, Europe, or even PAL region) are preferred to specific country releases." However, this was released in Japan later than North America. And yet Namco assisted in development and published it..... Namcokid47 (Contribs) 21:26, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Look back to this artcle, it was developed by Namco Hometek, not Namco.
If you even bothered to actually read the article in question, the development section has plenty of info validating that Namco Japan assisted in production of the game, namely the overall quality and presentation (not to mention they also published the game worldwide, not the Namco Hometek division). If the Japanese company helped make the game and also published it, what reason is there to not have the Japanese date? Namcokid47 (Contribs) 00:44, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Okay now I know what you are talking about. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 09:47, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Need for Speed

[edit]

While the box may say "Road & Track Presents The Need For Speed", a quick search on sources show the WP:COMMONNAME to be just "The Need for Speed", so moving it to the longer title is inappropriate (eg, we don't call it "Sid Meier's Civilization" but just "Civilization" despite the title on the box. If you feel it should be moved, you should start a Requested Move process.

Also, please do not do copy-and-paste moves like you did. There is a move function available to editors/admins that brings along the entire contribution history for an article, which is an essential part of Wikipedia. --Masem (t) 21:18, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Did I spam a move? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 22:47, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure what you mean "spam a move". As Masem said, do not carry out cut and paste moves. Doing so not only violates policy, it also runs a risk of being a copyright violation. Our contributors may have chosen to release their content under a free licence but it doesn't mean their copyright shouldn't be respected. Their copyright needs to be respect which means their licence terms need to be respected. Cut and paste moves often do not do so. We can see when you did so [2] you provided no real indication of where the content came so, so it's quite questionable if the attribution requirement of the CC BY-SA licence was met. Of course even if you had followed WP:Copying within Wikipedia and correctly indicated where the content came from, you would still be violating policy by carrying out a cut and paste move. As Masem said, there is a move function, and it's there for a reason. If your are unable to use it due to the target existing within a history then seek help at WP:RM for a technical move. And you shouldn't be making moves like that without discussion anyway. Nil Einne (talk) 22:32, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, now that move made me feel uncomfortable. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 09:57, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited World Cup Golf: Professional Edition, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page EGM (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

ANI (again)

Final (final?) warning

[edit]

If the ANI thread does not result in your being blocked, let this independently serve as a final warning. In the last day, I've found no less than 4 places you removed information as "not true" or some similar broken English phrase. In each of those cases, you either removed reliable sources that clearly showed it was true, or I easily found a valid source myself. If you do not stop removing valid information or taking a moment to at least attempt to locate sources, I'll block you. Editors have enough to deal with without having to follow in your wake fixing constant mistakes. -- ferret (talk) 15:48, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How many days/weeks/months Ferret? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 19:23, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The response to being warned like this shouldn't be "for how long" as if you want to judge how badly the block will impact you. -- ferret (talk) 19:25, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Okay Benjaminkirsc (talk) 19:26, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

October 2019

[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia, as you did at Civilization VI: Rise and Fall. WMSR (talk) 02:24, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You do not understand anything about this. No source said iOS release. Please see these sources before warning me (https://www.ign.com/games/civilization-6-rise-and-fall, https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/224874-sid-meiers-civilization-vi-rise-and-fall, https://www.usgamer.net/articles/civilization-vi-rise-and-fall-review, https://worthplaying.com/article/2018/4/25/reviews/108400/). And it is just a Civilization VI app. If you give me a warning/block when it is false info, you will need to look at these sources, clear @WMSR:. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 00:47, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Benjaminkirsc: The game has been released on iOS. Here's the link. You can see that Rise and Fall is an option for an in-app purchase. If you can Google something and easily verify information, add sources instead of removing content. WMSR (talk) 00:59, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@WMSR: search request finished. I notice it was released on the Apple iOS. But it is in the app Civilization VI. Now have a good night. I going to bed. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 01:03, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: .

Per this discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents, you've been indefinitely blocked. To be unblocked, you need to convince an administrator that you understand the issues involved: restoring copyright violations, yelling at editors, restoring articles that have been redirected while admitting that they're not notable, etc. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 00:46, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How do I get unblocked? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 10:33, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Thryduulf: thanks a lot. Update: I'm going to do 3 soon. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 22:33, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
My notebook for step 1.
  • 1: I had abusing edits.
  • 2: Being disruptive.
  • 3: Yelling to users.

Unblock request

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

So, four and a half years ago, I was 13 and wasn't very mature at the time. I was disruptive, upsetting, and abusive. I want to say how stupid I was in the past. I have matured since I was blocked indefinitely here. I'm currently 18, learned my lesson, and @NinjaRobotPirate:, I apologize to you and all the mods about my past behavior in 2019. It was right for me to be blocked from Wikipedia, but now, I've learned not to be disruptive to you people. Thanks, Benjaminkirsc (talk) 11:40, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action, or you have not responded to questions raised during that time. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 18:26, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Could you show us an edit that you'd like to make? It would help us to tell that you understand Wikipedia's guidelines better now. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 17:28, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@NinjaRobotPirate: So uhh, in the past, I made abusive summaries in past years when I was in Wikipedia. I want to edit some of the summaries to act kinder and less harsh. My violations of Wikipedia:Disruptive editing, Wikipedia:Do not insult the vandals, and Wikipedia:No personal attacks are why I was blocked in the first place (hence your reason). In 2018 and 2019, I also was obnoxious to you and other mods, which I deeply regret. An edit I would like to make is reverting some of my late edits, like an edit from MySims Agents from September 19, 2019 (see https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=MySims_Agents&action=history&offset=&limit=500 and https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=MySims+Agents for the issues). Some of those edits I did were incredibly stupid of me. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 18:54, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh and to add on that, I also want to apologize to @Ferret: for calling his edit "rude and unexplained" in 2019 when recreating Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002. That was related to my disruptive editing and the guidelines. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 20:28, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That goes further toward addressing concerns about your editing, which is good. However, I was asking for something more like "Rise of the Rōnin has a lot of reviews listed in vgreviews that are not in the prose. I would remove all of the reviews from the template except for the IGN review, and I would add this review to the reception. I would summarize the review in my own words as <whatever>." I just want to see what kinds of edits you'll be making. In other words, a concrete example of a useful edit. Not a conceptual "I would make better edits" kind of answer. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 22:20, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For the concerns of my past editing, thanks for your agreement. And for the useful editing, if that's the case, I would like to "clean vandalism and remove false information" like I did in the past, including vandalism that is hidden, and add sources to reception, and expand on gameplay where lacked. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 22:37, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We're not making any progress here. You seem to be refusing to post an proposed edit on your talk page. That's fine, but it means that I won't be unblocking you. If someone else wants to, that's fine with me. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 02:38, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Aww shoot, I'm sorry. Okay, I'll see what I can do. I would like add new links to the new Metacritic for the PlayStation 2 version of FIFA 2001. The link would be: https://www.metacritic.com/game/fifa-2001/. I'm aware that the other links are expired, but I searched it up. Benjaminkirsc (talk) 10:30, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This unblock request froze. Has anyone got a decision yet? Benjaminkirsc (talk) 22:19, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
