Orphaned non-free media (File:Bhavashankari_at_the_Shiva_temple_of_Kasthasangraha.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Bhavashankari_at_the_Shiva_temple_of_Kasthasangraha.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 01:27, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:Paramahamsa Hariharananda.png
Thank you for uploading File:Paramahamsa Hariharananda.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:34, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Bhavashankari_at_the_Shiva_temple_of_Kasthasangraha.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Bhavashankari_at_the_Shiva_temple_of_Kasthasangraha.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 20:28, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

License claim at File:Maharani_Bhavashankari.jpg
Hi,
I noticed that you uploaded the photo File:Maharani_Bhavashankari.jpg and claimed that you created this image by yourself. Is that correct? From the photo, it appears that it has been scanned from a book or other publication. Please clarify where you got the photo (which publication, its date of publication etc.). If you scanned it from somewhere, then you cannot claim to be the creator of the image. --Ragib (talk) 20:15, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- If it is a scanned photo, then you do not have the right to release it to Wikipedia. Right now, you declared on the photo page that, "I (BengaliHindu (talk)) created this work entirely by myself.". This is incorrect. The act of scanning does not convey any rights to you ... the original photo/painting author has the rights. Of course, there are some scenarios where you can claim the photo to be in public domain (for example, if the photo was published more than 50 years ago in India, or more than 60 years ago in Bangladesh, then it is in public domain. If it is not a photo, but a painting, then it will be in public domain only after 50/60 years following the death of the painter. So, unless you yourself painted it, or it is from a really old painting (which we can verify), you cannot claim to hold copyright of the photo and release it to wikipedia. Hope this makes sense. --Ragib (talk) 20:28, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Greetings! A stub template or category which you created has been nominated for renaming or deletion at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type most likely doesn't meet Wikipedia requirements for a stub type, through failure to meet standards relating to the name, scope, current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals! Speedy deletion nomination of Ashwini Kumar Dutta
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Ashwini Kumar Dutta requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Ikh007 (talk) 12:04, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Joy Bangla!
Dear youngman,
I was looking at your articles & editing in wikipedia. Sometimes I was impressed because of your style of sourcing and citations. I was also impressed to see your efforts at this young age. I was proud to see your well articulated linguistic expressions.
I was overwhelmingly proud because you are a Bengali.
Suddenly, I became depressed by realizing that you are infected with the virus of COMMUNALISM! Its true----the dogma of communal feeling has made a brilliant young man like you parochial.
I wish you all success in academic persuits. But at the same time I pray to God that you become a non-communal great human being following the footsteps of Netaji or Bangabandhu- following the ideals of Rabindranath or Nazrul.
The epitome of 'Bangaliana' centres around secularism, for which all the Bengalis are proud of. Neither Jamat-E-Islami nor 'Hindu Mahashbha' can destroy that spirit. JOY Bangla!!! Al-minar (talk) 10:50, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Indian people of Bangladeshi descent
Category:Indian people of Bangladeshi descent - This category needs discussion. Please draw attentions of others too. Arnab Dutta 13:36, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
- Very recently I had removed the listed persons from that category. I had begun a discussion in the Talk:Bangladeshi_Indian page of Bangladeshi_Indian too. But someone seems to have reverted my edits. You are correct this category needs urgent discussion. BengaliHindu (talk) 14:38, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for notifying me. Unfortunately I am not much active in WP now due to time constraints. That category definitely needs attention. Probably it needs to be renamed to something like "Indian people of East Bengal descent".
- I have edited the article Bangladeshi Indian today. Please have a look, and edit in oredr to make the article more explanatory, and to distiguish between the use of the term Bangladeshi Indian versus the concept of indian people with ancestral origin from East Bengal region (Bangal ar ki, like me!).--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:57, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest
Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.
As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.
If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.
You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Speedy deletion nomination of 1930 Dhaka riots

Bhurishrestha redirects to Bhurshut which need to be swapped. Content of Bhurshut should move to Bhurishrestha preserving the history as well as talk history. BengaliHindu (talk) 11:17, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
- Why does it need to be swapped? JamesBWatson (talk) 17:10, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
- The title of the article should be Bhurishrestha rather than Bhursut, because during its time it was recognized as Bhurishrestha. Bhursut is a corruption of Bhurishrestha that gained currency in British period. At present, Bhursut is only a village in Howrah district. The present day Bhursut and the medieval Bhurishrestha are not the same. Therefore the title should Bhurishrestha rather than Bhursut.BengaliHindu (talk) 04:36, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
- Why not just list it at WP:RM and let the community decide if it needs moving? Ronhjones (Talk) 21:01, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
- I've put my suggestion (as mentioned above) in Bhurshut talk page as well.BengaliHindu (talk) 04:36, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
- Wikipedia's manual of style says that, other things being equal, we should use the name most commonly recognised today in English. Whether that is the same as the name most commonly recognised in the place concerned at the time it was prominent or not is irrelevant. Thus, for example, we have an article on Ancient Rome, not on ROMA ANTIQVA, nor even Roma Antiqua. Likewise, we have an article on Germany, not one on Deutschland. Nomination of 1992 Bangladesh pogroms for deletion
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article 1992 Bangladesh pogroms is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/1992 Bangladesh pogroms until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. --Zayeem (talk) 06:50, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
The article Pinjar (2012 novel) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No notability mentioned.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:39, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
