Welcome to Wikipedia!
[edit]Hello Ben D., welcome to Wikipedia!
Here are some tips:
- Take a look at the Simplified Ruleset.
- Read the Tutorial, How to edit a page and the Manual of Style.
- Find out how to revert, move and merge pages.
- Sign your posts on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~).
- Add yourself to the New user log and a regional notice board
- Ask questions at the Village pump or Help desk.
- Use the Show preview button
- Provide an Edit summary
- Add the correct image copyright tag to any images you upload
- Take a look at Consensus of standards
- Create a User page
- Be bold
- Ignore all rules
If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.
If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alf 07:54, 28 August 2005 (UTC).
Hello. I've listed Andreas Hadik on copyright problems because it is a copy of http://www.hungarian-history.hu/lib/thou/thou08.htm. Copyright violations are not allowed on Wikipedia. If you would like to write the article in your own words, please follow the instructions on the page. Zoe 08:14, August 28, 2005 (UTC)
Worry do not about the guy ising the same address from your school. We know that anonymous ips are often used by many people. We only use the "notices" on the talk so we can keep track of addresses that vandalize persistently, but no harm was done anyway and it was a single ocurrence so don't pay much attention. -- (☺drini♫|☎) 23:12, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

Thanks on my User Page
[edit]Thanks, It was probably a sockpuppet of SPUI, he vandalized my page the other day. In gratitude, I want to award you the RickK Antivandalism Barnstar! Keep up the good work! Karmafist 17:30, 30 September 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for catching the guy creating all the camp articles
[edit]I've blocked him for 15 minutes, to give us time to clean up, and him time to read the warnings you and I gave him. JesseW, the juggling janitor 21:59, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
Hello! I saw you added a speedy deletion tag to the article Yowza. Unfortunately, the fact that the article is an advertisement generally doesn't mean that it can be speedied unless it meets another of the criteria for speedy deletion. I've listed the article over on AFD; feel free to add your vote. Quicksandish 05:40, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]I didn't catch that last vandalism from the anon user. Joyous (talk) 02:52, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
VfD Removal
[edit]Hi Ben D. A new user removed your submission for deletion of Truthkill immediately after you posted it. This same user has been voting to keep vanity band pages submitted by a recently banned user. Possible sockpuppet? Should the original page be put up for VfD? -- Corvus 17:30, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
WP:CP
[edit]Hi, you've reported copyright infringements to WP:CP in the last week, a new measure was recently passed to allow the speedy deltion of new pages that are cut and paste copyvios. Please follow these instructions if you come across this type of copyvio. Thanks. --nixie 00:17, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
Blatant copyright infringements may now be "speedied"
If an article and all its revisions are unquestionably copied from the website of a commercial content provider and there is no assertion of permission, ownership or fair use and none seems likely, and the article is less than 48 hours old, it may be speedily deleted. See CSD A8 for full conditions. After notifying the uploading editor by using wording similar to:
Blank the page and replace the text with
to the article in question, leaving the content visible. An administrator will examine the article and decide whether to speedily delete it or not. |

no objections
[edit]no objections and I apologize for that it was a mistake on my part while I was in the process of deleting many copyrighted logos I also inadvertently removed Firefox logos as well (my brain must have needed to be defragged :) ), feel free to put the logo back on your page however please remember that things like the Opera logo and the Windows logo cannot be used as they are not licensed in a way that's compatible with wikipedia's copyright guidelines. Jtkiefer T | @ | C ----- 20:24, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for working on NP Patrol and for tagging potential CSD candidates. I notice that you tagged Teleboards, however this article does not really fit the {{nonsense}} CSD. Patent nonsense is more like random characters or really really unitelligible gibberish. In this case, I think that the article would better fit the article consisting only of an external link criteria. Please review Speedy deletion criteria, and continue to help us locate articles that need to be deleted, being sure to correctly tag each article with the appropriate CSD criteria. Thanks again for your contributions! Ëvilphoenix Burn! 01:17, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
- Again, check out the CSD criteria page I linked to. Specifically in this case, A3. Ëvilphoenix Burn! 01:32, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
- That would have been fine. Most of the admins running CSD know the criteria by heart. Ëvilphoenix Burn! 01:46, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

Hello. Round four of Wikipedia Mind Benders will open on Thursday, December 1. This round will be drastically different from round three; part one will consist of a creative project, and part two will be developed from there. The full details will be released when the round opens. Time and speed should not be major factors in this round; thus, there is no exact opening time for the round as speed will not factor into the scoring. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 00:04, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
P.S. Please add Wikipedia:Mind Benders/to do to your watchlist to receive further announcements; the NotificationBot is currently down and all notifications will be placed on that page. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Note: This message has been sent by Flcelloguy. If you do not wish to receive further messages regarding WP:MIND, please contact Flcelloguy. Special thanks to Fetofs for helping distribute this message.

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Military history WikiProject's newsletter! Please consider this inital issue to be a prototype; as always, any comments and suggestions are quite welcome, and will help us improve the newsletter in the coming months. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
