Main page apperance

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this article know that it will be appearing as the main page featured article on November 20, 2010. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/November 20, 2010. If you think that it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured article director, Raul654 (talk · contribs). If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! Submarines

I've seen your work on subs on your contrib pages *whistles*. Nearly half your GAs are subs. Would you mind joining Operation Nautilius? It is still a infant project, but with your help we might be able to achieve our far-fetched and far-flung goals. Please consider this. Also, if you help create more featured content on subs, I'll give you half credit for Portal:Submarine if and when it gets to Featured Portal. WikiCopter (tcgsimplecommonslostcvuonau) 04:55, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on German submarine U-70, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Because there is disambiguation - see "U-70" page

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Kirill Borisenko (talk) 20:56, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. Non-free rationale for File:Kings in disguise anthology.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Kings in disguise anthology.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:42, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Greetings

Ahoy Bellhalla! Have been around since '06 but have only recently signed up with the Military Project and with the WikiProject Ships. Over the last couple months I have completely rewritten the Stephen Decatur, Thomas Macdonough and John Rodgers pages and have started on several others articles of naval commanders. The Decatur page, I am hoping, is now at FA quality, with Macdonough and Rodgers almost there, again I hope. I have amassed quite a bibliography of material of RS's and soon will be putting together a Naval Library that writers of naval history can easily access and use here at WP. If you have the time and are so inclined I would greatly appreciate your input on these pages, esp the Decatur page, considered one of the forefathers of the US Navy. I was once told that this page comes off with some bias, but because Decatur was involved in so many heroic efforts in many early American wars it is perhaps difficult to mention all of this without the page coming off as biased. Need more feedback.

Just recently I created the USS Concord (1828) page. As there is no image of the Concord (that I know of) I was perusing through the List of sloops of war of the United States Navy for a "sister" image to use. While going from article to article I discovered that almost all of these articles were lifted, cut and pasted to one degree or another, some entirely, from a PD source. I discovered the same situation exists in the List of sailing frigates of the United States Navy. I compiled two lists of these ships and put them in a dual nav-box and posted it here hoping to get others to join in the effort to fix and expand these pages. Over the last several days I have gone through nearly 100 of these articles fixing/building the info-boxes, providing bibliographies, and am still in the process, but this task is becoming sort of overwhelming, which is another reason I posted the lists on the ships project page, hoping others will join in the effort. I am approaching you as I noticed your credentials here at WP are impeccable and accordingly I would value, greatly, your input and advice on this matter also. (Getting long winded here.) Again, just wanted to say howdy and get some advice from someone with your background. All the best. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 19:21, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
