Hello Balablitz:

WikiProject AFC is holding a month long Backlog Elimination Drive!
The goal of this drive is to eliminate the backlog of unreviewed articles. The drive is running from March 1, 2014 to March 31, 2014.

Awards will be given out for all reviewers participating in the drive in the form of barnstars at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 1800 articles, so start reviewing articles! Visit the drive's page and help out!

A new version of our AfC helper script has been released! It includes many bug fixes, new improvements and features, code enhancements, and more. If you want to see a full list of changes, visit the changelog. Please report bugs and feature requests there, too! Thanks.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

March 2014

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article, specifically Portal:Trichy/Selected biography/4, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. See WP:NFCC#9. --Stefan2 (talk) 00:40, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

@Stefan2: Oops... Thanks for bringing it to my attention. As i was busy constructing the pages, i missed to notice your edit, hence i could have added the image mistakenly. It also happened because i didn't viewed my watchlist for the past 2 days. My apologies. I'll see to that, nothing such happens in future. BTW, Thanks for your contribution to Trichy portal. --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ) 00:56, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

category:Hindu temples

Hi, I see you have been removing the category of Hindu temples in the district from some temple pages. Places of worship is a larger umbrella and may not be the best fit here.Ssriram mt (talk) 01:01, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

@Ssriram mt: Yes, places of worship is a larger umbrella, but am trying to categorize the temples within the City limits of Tiruchirappalli into Category:Hindu temples in Tiruchirappalli (yet to work) and putting the same under Category:Hindu temples in Tiruchirappalli district (along with other temples outside the city limits and within the district) and Category:Places of worship in Tiruchirappalli also. You can help me on that, else we can talk to somebody, if needed. --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ) 01:22, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
Some of the users already worked to classify the temples based on the district - it has been widely discussed. I am not sure if worship/religious places cat is needed separately. Hindu temples in Tiruchipalli can be a separate cat, but that should come under Hindu temples in Tiruchirapalli district.Ssriram mt (talk) 03:43, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
@Ssriram mt: Yes, you got my point. Thats what am insisting and wished for.  Thanks --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ) 04:53, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Rejection of "Liu Yiming"

Hello Balablitz,

It is not clear to me why you have rejected the article "Liu Yiming" as "not adequately supported by reliable sources".

• The first section, "Life", quotes its sources in a footnote: a scholarly study, and a Chinese book.

• The second section, "Works", refers to a dozen works by Liu Yiming, and cites next to their titles every existing translation into English

• The third section, "Views on Taoism and Internal Alchemy", quotes its main source in the first paragraph; provides references to the three most important Chinese studies on Liu Yiming; and contains exactly 10 references to an English translation of the main theoretical work by Liu Yiming (also quoting brief passages of the translation in quotation marks).

• The Bibliography lists 11 titles

• The External Links contain the first 2 links currently shown by a search on Google, except for a blog page (not usable on Wikipedia) and results for homonymous but different people

You comment says "Needs appropriate infobox and proper inline citations". I can count more than 20 inline citations in this article (for example, Liu Yiming 2013 appears 10 times). I can add an infobox only after I'm sure that the issue with reliable sources and inline citations is solved.

Could you please clarify what is the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Xuanying (talk) 14:18, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

@Xuanying: As the subject of the proposed article is about a person, who is not a living person, see WP:BDP.
The article should be well referenced atleast one inline citation per paragraph. Please read and follow the guidelines. Hope these will clarify the problems for the decline. Happy to help, if any. --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ) 15:15, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

--

Thank you for your quick reply. You could help by pointing out one or more specific errors in this article. I have read the pages you link and it does not seem to me that I am not following the guidelines. By the way, I have written and edited other Wikipedia pages under other names and also in other languages and I have never encountered any issue.

Could you please point out to me the page that says each paragraph needs at least one inline citation? By the way, WP:ILC says that a citation can be "placed by any method", and not necessarily inline.

Please note that WP:BDP does not exist anymore.

Thank you,

Xuanying (talk) 17:49, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Well my apologies for citing WP:BDP, yet it still can be substituted by WP:V. And you may have read the pages that i mentioned, but not thoroughly. Placing infobox may not mandatory, but it is preferable as it presents the whole article in a nutshell. The article clearly lacks style, that why i referred MOS:BIO. You may take a look at some articles here, which are high in standards. Read first few lines of second para at WP:ILC. Also take time to read the entire information on that page and format the reference per WP:REF, using relevant citation templates at CAT:CITE. --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ) 20:56, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello Balablitz, I don't see the sense of that "violation of copyright" tag (now removed) that you added to the published Liu Yiming article. You should know very well that they are identical simply because I'm the author of both articles. By the way, that article new also exists in three other languages on Wikipedia. — Xuanying (talk) 09:27, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Agree with Xuanying that your copypaste tag is inappropriate. I also don't think Xuanying's AfC submission should have been rejected. The article, though far from perfect, is in better shape than probably a few million existing articles. -Zanhe (talk) 19:37, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
@Zanhe: While at the time of submission at AfC, the contents needed additional references and lacked proper inline citations, hence the decline was right. What you saw at mainspace was created while the same was still at AfC. Why such attempt should be made so hurriedly? --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ) 20:18, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Glad the issues have been solved with the help of both of you. I believe the AfC version now should be deleted. — Xuanying (talk) 22:52, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Articles_for_creation/Marguerite_Frank

Could you check again if the criteria are met now? I tried to address both the precise references as well as the opening paragraph style:

Thanks!

Can you please talk to User Marchoctober and make him learn? I have tried my best, and failed. Even if the almighty proves to him that Bhakta Prahlada was released in 1932 and not 1931 (making Kalidas the first Southie talkie), he will not change. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:33, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

Bhakta Prahlada

@Marchoctober: 1. In which article did i put my personal analysis, enlighten me? Also what is your version of personal analysis to me? 2. What kind of warning or blocking templates placed? where? If so, why it were placed? 3. Where and how did i fail in assuming good faith?
In what connection did u placed these Level:2 warning templates, when there is step-by-step process of placing such templates (single issue notice, single issue warnings, Level:1) rather than straightaway jumping to Level:2? Because  Looks like a duck to me of placing such templates without any rationale or reason. And unless otherwise, it should be you to thoroughly go through the introduction page. --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ)(Support) 18:49, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
Level-2 templates can be issued to those who are bluntly and purposefully editing articles inspite of the discussion being undertaken on talk page. None of the sources say that it has been a controversy for decades using of these words violates WP:NPOV, Please Assume good faith when dealing other editors. Moreover the blogspot is self published hence cannot be accepted as a source. I have undone your edits as per these above explanation.

Bala, there is no use trying to make Marchoctober ever learn. He is still as adamant as ever, and in my view, he is a sad, strange little man who has my pity. It's time we try and get him blocked... or better than that he should be banned. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:19, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
@Marchoctober: Apart from constructive edits, which you have focussed/cared less, the only benefit you might staying in WP is simply raising your edit count. Have fun with your editing.  Thank you very much! --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ)(Support) 12:07, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
@Kailash29792: Am really vexed kailash. I ran out of providing explanations, dried so. Hopefully i tried my best, but it went vain. I don't know in which way could i provide an better explanation/understanding. There were instances/press coverages that contents of WP shouldn't be believed. Tomorrow Bhakta Prahlada (1931 film) may join the list, as an outsider from wikipedia might turn against the content/veracity of this article despite availability of existence of good sources. Pathetic. Yes indeed he can be blocked or at less be banned. But if banned only for a less/definite period of time, after that he may come back to square one. So something constructively should be done to save the article. --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ)(Support) 13:32, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
