Velankanni
[edit]Hi Arul! Just a quick question about etymology of Velankanni. I remember reading in one of the Church booklets as Vellai + Kanni ie. White + Virgin. Is this right? Noticed that the entry on the town states it as Town of Virgin. I don't recollect any Tamil usage of town as Velai, other than oour or Sanskrit derivative of naragaram. I noticed that there is no notice about Kaga Ashram deletion. I am not sure how the automated system did not leave a message about the deletion, on my behalf. Redtigerxyz Talk 08:55, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Idli, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tamil (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi, As per Wikipedia:INDICSCRIPTS#Indic_scripts_in_lead, regional language names should not be used. Also, there was nothing like Tamil Nadu during the times, so a caveat like modern-day Tamil Nadu should be mentioned. Thanks a lot for y our contributions.Ssriram mt (talk) 12:00, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Coir may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Use of Tamil-related websites
[edit]Hi Arulraja, I know you probably have been busy lately after your last message on my talk page (I've replied there)....but I've just noticed that besides the article on Mango, you seem to regularly use websites like tamilnation.com...tamil.org for adding the such content. Most recently, I noticed it at Onam, when a fellow editor removed it. Remember as I've told you before, such websites count as self-published or blogs which can never used as a reliable source. Also you cannot directly quote text from wikisource as that usually is a primary source, this counts as original research.
I strongly recommend you to remove such content wherever you added it, and find proper sources like scholarly books, articles (online at Google Books) or news reports, for writing or adding new in the future. Please consider this, since other editors may not take what you've added in good faith and doing this will also lessen everyone else's work here. Sincerely, Ugog Nizdast (talk) 09:57, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
