Why not request for rollback
Hi there. I see that you have been reverting vandalism for quite a while now. I suggest you apply for permission to use the Rollback feature which gives you single-click undo access. - It is, I believe, possible to run Huggle under Wine, though I can't say as I've tried it myself. See Wikipedia talk:Huggle#What version of Wine should I install?. There's also a discussion about native mac versions in the future, though it goes over my head! GedUK 14:07, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey there. You know, I got so caught up in copyediting and spellchecking and redlink-fixing on the 42(Song) article that I didn't even realize it wasn't quite up to notability standards. - It doesn't seem to meet any of the WP:CSD - Coldplay are notable so A9 is out the door, but there's no info about the song itself in Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, which it redirects to, so that's A10 out the door as well. With regard to the rollback on my edit (see above reference): the Valve page is in need of references, which is what I added. You cite my addition as a "spam reference", probably becasue the link is to a corporate website. However, you tolerate the presence of an external link to http://www.documentation.emersonprocess.com/groups/public/documents/book/cvh99.pdf on that same page, which is also a corporate website.
This is not the only reference of mine that you've reverted as "spam". I am not adding spam. For one, together with the references, I've been adding a number of high-resolution photos of valves on these articles, and most articles are void of decent any references, which is another value-added that my contributions to the different articles on spam.
Links to other corporations are also tolerated on other valve pages. On the Butterfly Valve article, http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Butterfly_valve, you tolerate the manual-selling external link http://www.tpub.com/fireman/69.htm, similar to the Gate Valve article external link to the same site, the control valve article http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Control_valves is littered with external company links: Spirax Sarco's http://www.spiraxsarco.com/resources/steam-engineering-tutorials/control-hardware-el-pn-actuation.asp, Emerson's http://www.documentation.emersonprocess.com/groups/public/documents/book/cvh99.pdf, Flow Control's http://www.flowcontrol.com/Animation/index.html and Samson's http://www.samson.de/support/enser002.htm. Same happens with Spirax Sarco's link on the Check Valve article page.
Please note that you are tolerating "External Links" to corporate websites, but my links are "References" to an article on valves on our site. So, external corporate links with no value-added to the text of the article are ok, but explanatory additions to the article with citations from corporate sites are not ok? So, you should apply the external link policy on a merit-basis, no just automatically. Please refer to my contribution to that page, check the external link and please respond as I can't see a convinving reason for deleting my references (citing them as corporate spam) but tolerating a dozen other corporate links on those very same pages. To me, that's an inconsistent application of the external link policy.
I look forward to receiving your response; I trust we will be able to deal with this constructively.

- I don't understand what you're talking about - I've never reverted any of your edits. The link I removed was added by User:Negarmottahedeh (see diff here), who had been adding commercial links contrary to the external links policy. Or are you saying User:Alloyvalves and User:Negarmottahedeh are both your accounts? In this case you would be violating WP:SOCK as well as WP:EL and risk being blocked for disruptive edits under multiple accounts. XXX antiuser eh? 17:49, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

- Then find a reliable source that reports a death caused by consumption of artificial sweeteners. A news article or a medical journal, not conspiracy or pseudo-science sites. PROD vs. CSD
Thanks for placing the speedy delete tags on the two articles related to Quincy track and field that I had prodded. I've had a bit of trouble with the csd criteria in the past and felt safer using a prod, but if you thinks they can be speedy deleted, that's great! Chandhok
The source is not reliable - Spanish news agencies are notorious for making things up, and we've had several instances of it recently. I'm sure Chandhok will be announced on Thursday, but there's a reason why not a single motor sport news source has picked up on it, and that's because it's just not reliable enough. - I've seen several instances of Spanish newspapers and magazines making stuff up, but even so that was always weaseled as "sources within the team" and such. EFE is a news agency, not a newspaper, and they clearly state the information came from Carabante himself. Being that they're Spanish, they'd be closest to the team and possibly have easier access to them. The site that published the info is Brazil's equivalent of Autosport and the only Brazilian media outlet to actually send personnel to the tests in Europe, so they definitely qualify under WP:RS. If you revert it again I won't readd the info per WP:3RR, but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it as fluff. Cheers, XXX antiuser eh? 21:17, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'm certainly not dismissing it as fluff, more that we need to be consistent with the sources we allow and the ones we don't. I know about EFE and also that, at best, they're only a reasonably reliable news agency. The other thing that slightly bothers me is that Campos / Hispania are clearly very tight financially (or else they wouldn't be hiring a third-rate paydriver like Chandhok) and if another driver turned up between now and Thursday with more cash, I'd be willing to bet he'd get the seat. I'm happy to side with Autosport et al and wait till Thursday. Others have reverted the addition of Chandhok elsewhere, but I'm happy to bend on it if others want it included. - Just to chip in, if you don't mind - the only time we usually put drivers in the table before the official release is when the leading sources, e.g. Autosport, BBC etc., start saying that the deal is done. "German Empire"
Look in the discussion section of the German Empire article. I gave the rationale for my edits there two days before I made them. The title of the article contains a misleading translation of the word Reich. Whoever wrote the article is also clearly unaware that the term Deutsches Reich (the term badly rendered as "German Empire") was revived in the 1930s (e.g. on German postage stamps), and therefore does not apply only to the German state from 1870-1918. The whole article is ill-conceived and poorly informed. The 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix (formally the XXIII ING Magyar Nagydíj) was a Formula One motor race held on August 3, 2008, at Hungaroring in Mogyoród, near Budapest, Hungary. It was the 11th race of the 2008 Formula One season. Contested over 70 laps, the race was won by Heikki Kovalainen for the McLaren team, from a second position start. Timo Glock finished second in a Toyota car, with Kimi Räikkönen third in a Ferrari. It marked Kovalainen's first Formula One victory, which made him the sport's 100th driver to win a World Championship race, and Glock's first podium finish. Much of the race, however, was dominated by a duel between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa, who drove for McLaren and Ferrari respectively. Hamilton started from pole position on the starting grid but was beaten at the first corner by Massa, who passed him around the outside. The two championship protagonists commenced a battle for the lead that was resolved when Hamilton suffered a puncture just over half-way through the race, giving Massa a comfortable lead. The Ferrari's engine, however, failed with three laps of the race remaining, allowing Kovalainen to take the win. Article of the month – Ayrton Senna, current B-Class article.
Ayrton Senna da Silva, (pronounced [aˈiɾtõ ˈsenɐ da ˈsiwvɐ] ; São Paulo, March 21, 1960, – Bologna Italy May 1, 1994) was a Brazilian racing driver and three-time Formula One world champion. He was killed in a crash while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, and remains the most recent Grand Prix driver to die at the wheel of a Formula One car. Senna began his motorsport career in karting and moved up the ranks to win the British Formula 3 championship in 1983. Making his Formula One debut with Toleman in 1984, he moved to Lotus-Renault the following year, and won six Grands Prix over the next three seasons. In 1988 he joined Frenchman Alain Prost at McLaren-Honda. Between them, Senna and Prost won fifteen out of the sixteen Grands Prix which took place that season, with Senna winning his first World Championship, a title he would go on to win again in 1990 and 1991. McLaren's performance declined in 1992, as the Williams-Renault combination began to dominate the sport, although Senna won five races to finish as runner-up in 1993. He moved to Williams in 1994, but suffered a fatal accident at the third race of the season at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Italy. Senna is regarded as one of the greatest drivers in the history of Formula One. In 2009, a poll of 217 current and former Formula One drivers chose Senna as their greatest Formula One driver, in a survey conducted by British magazine Autosport. He was recognised for his qualifying speed over one lap and from 1989 until 2006 held the record for most pole positions. He was among the most talented drivers in extremely rain-affected conditions, as shown by his performances in the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, the 1985 Portuguese Grand Prix, and the 1993 European Grand Prix. He also holds the record for most victories at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix (6) and is the third most successful driver of all time in terms of race wins. However, Senna courted controversy throughout his career, particularly during his turbulent rivalry with Alain Prost, which was marked by two championship-deciding collisions at the 1989 and 1990 Japanese Grands Prix. Bruce Leslie McLaren (30 August 1937 – 2 June 1970), born in Auckland, New Zealand, was a race-car designer, driver, engineer and inventor. His name lives on in the McLaren team which has been one of the most successful in Formula One championship history, with McLaren cars and drivers winning a total of 20 world championships. McLaren cars totally dominated CanAm sports car racing with 56 wins, a considerable number of them with him behind the wheel, between 1967 and 1972 (and five constructors’ championships), and have won three Indianapolis 500 races, as well as 24 Hours of Le Mans and 12 Hours of Sebring. As a nine year old, McLaren contracted Perthes disease in his hip which left his left leg shorter than the right. He spent two years in traction, but later often had a slight limp. Les and Ruth McLaren, his parents, owned a service station and workshop in Remuera, Auckland. Bruce spent all of his free hours hanging around the workshop. The McLaren family homestead is located in Ngaruawahia in the Northern Waikato region and still stands today. Article of the month – McLaren M2B, new Good Article.
The McLaren M2B was the McLaren team's first Formula One racing car, used during the 1966 season. It was conceived in 1965 and preceded by the M2A development car. Designed by Robin Herd, the innovative but problematic Mallite material was used in its construction. The car was powered by Ford and Serenissima engines but both lacked power and suffered from reliability issues. Driven by team founder Bruce McLaren, the M2B had a short Grand Prix career, entering six races and starting only four. It scored the team's first point at the British Grand Prix and two more points at the United States Grand Prix. The 2008 Japanese Grand Prix (formally the XXXIV Fuji Television Japanese Grand Prix) was a Formula One motor race held on October 12, 2008, at the Fuji Speedway, Oyama, Japan. It was the 16th race of the 2008 Formula One season. The race, contested over 67 laps, was won by Fernando Alonso for the Renault team from fourth position on the starting grid. Robert Kubica finished second for BMW Sauber, and Kimi Räikkönen third for Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton, the eventual Drivers' Champion, led the Championship going into the race, and started from pole position alongside Räikkönen. Hamilton's McLaren teammate Heikki Kovalainen began from third, next to Alonso. At the first corner Hamilton braked late, forcing Räikkönen wide. Hamilton was later given a penalty, and was criticised by the British racing press for overly aggressive driving. Ferrari driver Felipe Massa, Hamilton's principal Championship rival, was penalised after an incident on lap two in which he touched Hamilton's car, causing it to spin. The incident dropped Hamilton to the back of the field, from where he was unable to regain a pointscoring position. Massa later collided with Sébastien Bourdais of Toro Rosso. Bourdais was penalised after the race, and demoted from sixth to tenth position. The penalty prompted widespread criticism from the racing media and ex-drivers. The victory was Alonso's second consecutive win; he started from 15th on the grid to win the Singapore Grand Prix two weeks prior. Kubica held off a determined attack from Räikkönen in the closing laps to take second place. Massa's seventh place narrowed his gap to Hamilton in the Drivers' Championship to five points. Article of the month – Brabham BT49, new Good Article
The Brabham BT49 (pronounced /ˈbræbəm/) is a Formula One racing car designed by South African Gordon Murray for the British Brabham team. The BT49 competed in the 1979 to 1982 Formula One World Championships and was used by Brazilian driver Nelson Piquet to win his first World Championship in 1981. The car was initially designed in 1979 as a short notice replacement for the team's Alfa Romeo-engined BT48, after Brabham team owner Bernie Ecclestone decided to end his relationship with the Italian engine manufacturer. The BT49 was created in only six weeks using elements of the BT48 chassis together with the widely used Cosworth DFV engine. It is a single seater with an open cockpit and exposed wheels. The monocoque chassis is made from aluminium alloy and carbon fibre composites. The car was fitted with controversial hydropneumatic suspension and water-cooled brakes at different points in its life. The BT49 was updated over four seasons taking a total of seven wins, six poles and 135 points. Seventeen were eventually built, most of which survive today. Some are used successfully in historic motorsport; Christian Glaesel won the 2005 FIA Historic Formula One Championship driving a BT49D. The 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix (formally the XXIII ING Magyar Nagydíj) was a Formula One motor race held on August 3, 2008, at Hungaroring in Mogyoród, near Budapest, Hungary. It was the 11th race of the 2008 Formula One season. Contested over 70 laps, the race was won by Heikki Kovalainen for the McLaren team, from a second position start. Timo Glock finished second in a Toyota car, with Kimi Räikkönen third in a Ferrari. It was Kovalainen's first Formula One victory, which made him the sport's 100th driver to win a World Championship race, and was Glock's first podium finish. The majority of the race was dominated by a duel between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa, who drove for McLaren and Ferrari respectively. Hamilton started from pole position on the starting grid but was beaten at the first corner by Massa, who passed him around the outside. The two championship rivals began a battle for the lead that was resolved when Hamilton sustained a punctured tyre just over half-way through the race, giving Massa a comfortable lead. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, located in Speedway, Indiana (an enclave suburb of Indianapolis) in theUnited States, is the home of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race and the Brickyard 400. It has existed since 1909, and is the original Speedway, the first racing facility historically to incorporate the word. With a permanent seating capacity for more than 257,000 people and infield seating that raises capacity to approximately 400,000, it is the largest and highest-capacity sporting facility in the world. Considered relatively flat by American standards but high-banked by Europeans, the track is a two-and-a-half-mile, nearly rectangular oval with dimensions that have remained essentially unchanged since its inception: four 1/4-mile turns, two 5/8-mile long straightaways between the fourth and first and second and third turns, and two 1/8-mile short straightaways, termed "short chutes," between the first and second, and third and fourth turns. A modern infield road course was constructed between 1998 and 2000, incorporating the western and southern portions of the oval (including the southwest turn) to create a 2.605-mile (4.192 km) track. In 2008, the road course was modified to replace the southwest turn with an additional infield section, for motorcycle use, resulting in a 2.621-mile (4.218 km) course. Altogether, the current grounds have expanded from an original 320 acres (1.3 km2) on which the Speedway was first built to cover over an area of over 559. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987, it currently remains the only such landmark to be affiliated with automotive racing history. In addition to the Indianapolis 500, the speedway also hosts NASCAR's Brickyard 400. From 2000 to 2007 the speedway also hosted the United States Grand Prix for Formula One. The inaugural USGP race drew an estimated 225,000 spectators, setting a Formula One attendance record. In 2008, the Speedway added the Indianapolis motorcycle Grand Prix, a Grand Prix motorcycle racing event. Since August 19, 1909, 248 automobile races have taken place, with 137 separate drivers winning. After winning his fifth United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis in 2006, Formula One driver Michael Schumacher holds the record for most victories between the three major events (Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400 and theF1 USGP), with all taking place on the Forumula One version of the road course. A. J. Foyt, Al Unser and Rick Mears each won the Indianapolis 500 four times on the traditional oval, and Jeff Gordon has also won four times on the oval in the Brickyard 400. No driver to date has won any combination of the three major events, with only one driver, (Juan Pablo Montoya), having competed in all three, winning the Indy 500, finishing fourth in the US Grand Prix, and placing second in the Brickyard 400. Johnny Aitken holds the record for total wins at the track, with 15 victories (all on the oval), during the 1909, 1910 and 1916 seasons. The 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix (formally the XXIII ING Magyar Nagydíj) was a Formula One motor race held on August 3, 2008, at Hungaroring in Mogyoród, near Budapest, Hungary. It was the 11th race of the 2008 Formula One season. Contested over 70 laps, the race was won by Heikki Kovalainen for the McLaren team, from a second position start. Timo Glock finished second in a Toyota car, with Kimi Räikkönen third in a Ferrari. It was Kovalainen's first Formula One victory, which made him the sport's 100th driver to win a World Championship race, and was Glock's first podium finish. The majority of the race consisted of a duel between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa, who drove for McLaren and Ferrari respectively. Hamilton started from pole position on the starting grid but was beaten at the first corner by Massa, who passed him around the outside. The two championship rivals began a battle for the lead that was resolved when Hamilton sustained a punctured tyre just over half-way through the race, giving Massa a lead of over 20 seconds over Kovalainen. The Ferrari's engine, however, failed with three laps of the race remaining, allowing the McLaren driver to win. Räikkönen set the race's fastest lap in the other Ferrari, but was hampered by a poor qualifying performance and was stuck behind Alonso and Glock in turn for almost all of the race. As a consequence of the race result, Hamilton extended his lead in the World Drivers' Championship to five points over Räikkönen, with Massa a further three behind. Robert Kubica, who finished eighth after finding his BMW Sauber car to be uncompetitive at the Hungaroring, slipped to 13 points behind Hamilton, ahead of his team-mate Nick Heidfeld and Kovalainen. In the World Constructors' Championship, McLaren vaulted BMW Sauber for second position, 11 points behind Ferrari. - That's just a generic template. Ignore it if you want. Ok, now that I read every word meticulously, I can see what you mean. But still, some of those external links lead to a published paper, which I think is somewhere in WP:NOTE. Change it back to CSD if you want, but I think using PROD is less bite-y, and seeing as the person is a new editor the said person might be confused. --43?9enter ☭msg☭contribs 07:45, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
- Nah, I have no problem with the PROD being there. I just think speedy deletion, when applicable based on the CSD, is more effective for keeping WP cleaner. While I can see that it might seem bite-y, I would assume that users creating new articles would be at least a little bit familiar with how WP works.
