Kerbalstuff, you might find WP:TRUTH to be worth a read, as will WP:LEGS. Personal opinions do not belong on Wikipedia, and behaviours such as changing "iPhone 8" to "iPhony 8" are clearly not meant to be constructive. Wikipedia is not a place for "being funny", and if you're not here to contribute positively to the encyclopaedia, then I will be happy to show you the door. New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello AntiCompositeNumber, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
  • Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!

Technology update:

  • The Wikimedia Foundation is currently working on creating a new filter for page curation that will allow new page patrollers to filter by extended confirmed status. For more information see: T175225

General project update:

  • On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
  • Before clicking on a reference or external link while reviewing a page, please be careful that the site looks trustworthy. If you have a question about the safety of clicking on a link, it is better not to click on it.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

SVG is superior Vectorebus

Hi there, I found your name here https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:African_National_Congress_logo.svg. I've been in the process of updating South African logos, particlarly sports teams. I'm a graphic designer and specialise in vector graphics, especially converting low resolution JPG or PNG files to the SVG format – legally of course. Please have a look at my edit history and that all are above board. Regards (Vectorebus (talk) 21:40, 14 October 2017 (UTC))

Vectorebus (talk) 21:40, 14 October 2017 (UTC)

@Vectorebus: I'm not overly concerned with your uploads. However, your sourcing could be better. If you trace a raster (JPG/PNG) file into an SVG, you should state that on the file page. If the file is extracted from a PDF, linking to the PDF itself is usually fine, but it might be better to list the specific page the PDF was found on. This goes for all images, the source should generally be the page you found the image on, not just the homepage. I mention this because I couldn't find the SVG on some of the pages you linked to as a source in some files. Happy editing! --AntiCompositeNumber (Ring me) 11:50, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

I want to write neutrally my biography with relating to policy of Wikipedia. Kbbarua (talk) 16:32, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

@Kanak Baran Barua: Writing about yourself is nigh impossible to do neutrally. If you haven't already, you should read WP:Autobiography, which explains in more detail why this is so. Because of that, you should not write about yourself. If you think you are notable, ask at WP:Requested articles so that someone else can write the page. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask at the Teahouse or in the live help chat. --AntiCompositeNumber (Ring me) 23:37, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, AntiCompositeNumber. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

ANI Experiences survey

The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (led by the Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) is conducting a survey for en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:

If you would like to take this survey, please sign up on this page, and a link for the survey will be mailed to you via Special:Emailuser.

Please be aware this survey will close Friday, Dec. 8 at 23:00 UTC.

Miscellaneous

  • Over the last few months, several users have reported backlogs that require administrator attention at WP:ANI, with the most common backlogs showing up on WP:SPI, WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. It is requested that all administrators take some time during this month to help clear backlogs wherever possible. It should be noted that AIV reports are not always valid; however, they still need to be cleared, which may include needing to remind users on what qualifies as vandalism.

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello AntiCompositeNumber, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
  • Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!

Outreach and Invitations:

  • If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with: {{subst:NPR invite}}. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.

New Year New Page Review Drive

  • A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
  • Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
  • The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia! Editing can get tough and frustrating at times, but we've come a long way in this project and that is a grand achievement. Hope you have a good time this festive season! :) Jiten talk contribs 23:42, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

New Years new page backlog drive

Hello AntiCompositeNumber, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!

We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!

The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.

Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:

  • The total number of reviews completed for the month.
  • The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.

NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

TV show discussion

I’m only asking Nicely:

1. In any Episode, if People do Not specificaly Say if a Person is Dumb, then Is it Stil Fine to Edit by saying Dumb?

2. if People Believ in their Minds that Person is Dumb, then Is it Stil Fine to Edit by saying Dumb?(107.77.231.132 (talk) 19:38, 31 December 2017 (UTC)).

(talk page stalker) 1. no, and 2. no. Wikipedia doesn't care what people believe in their minds, Wikipedia cares what reliable published sources have reported. A fan forum may have different standards; maybe you should look for one and discuss the episode in such a venue. Huon (talk) 19:50, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

You do Realize You’re suporting Dumb Criminals Too why?(107.77.231.132 (talk) 19:56, 31 December 2017 (UTC)).

I'm sorry, but that's incomprehensible. You haven't given any context nor explained what you are asking about. Huon (talk) 19:58, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm with Huon here. I can't really tell what you're talking about. If you gave some more details, we might be able to help you. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 20:11, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

For exampl, on CSI Miami, Horatio’s mind Definitly believs dat Joe’s dumb for Returning to Prison after Sneaking out.

I meant Y r You suporting Dumb Criminals on TV becuz You said that We canot Put “Dumb” on Wiki wen TV does Not say “Dumb"?(73.151.118.12 (talk) 23:50, 31 December 2017 (UTC)).

Answered above: Wikipedia doesn't care what people believe in their minds, Wikipedia cares what reliable published sources have reported. Other possible reasons: Maybe the fictional criminals who other fictional characters believe to be dumb aren't, and we're protecting non-dumb characters from being libeled. Or maybe we just think that, unlike smart fictional criminals, the dumb ones need our support. Huon (talk) 00:43, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

1. Y r You suporting any Criminals (Dumb, Smart etc) on TV?

2. Can You find out Y didn’t Dumb (Delko & Police) ask Hayden to Describe the Thief’s face to Dam Sketch Artist in (CSI miami Driven Episode)?

3. You agree with Me that (Delko & Police r Dumb) becuz Hayden knew Wher to Get reveng on Thief?

4. You agre that (Joe Lebrock is Dumb) for Not escaping with other Prisoners after Geting $ from Bank?(107.77.213.22 (talk) 11:54, 1 January 2018 (UTC)).

I'm probably not the best person to ask about TV shows, because I spend my time editing Wikipedia and not watching television. I don't have any particular opinions on the actions of any character in CSI Miami, but personal opinions don't really matter when it comes to Wikipedia articles. If you want to write that "Character X is dumb" in a Wikipedia article, you'll have to find a reliable source that agrees with you. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 13:09, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

I want CSI Miami director’s Phone Number.

Since your Name involved C, I figured You automaticaly watched csi Miami chanels.

1. Instead of Wikipedia, y R other Websites ok with Us writing “Dumb”?(107.77.213.52 (talk) 16:07, 1 January 2018 (UTC)).

Sorry, don't have that. I don't even know who the director is. Can't speak about other websites either, I probably have nothing to do with their rules and guidelines. If you've got questions about Wikipedia, I'd be happy to answer them, but I can't help with much else. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 16:09, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

1. I need You to find Scientist to build Time Machine so I can Go back into Time to be 17 again during 2009?

2. Im Geting Impatient With tv.com Websites Users Taking forever To Read my Mesages so Besides Wikipedia, do You Kno other Websites?

3. I blame CSI Miami director for puting some Dumb Episodes causing Me acidentaly Break tv so You must Hav agreed?(107.77.213.188 (talk) 03:23, 2 January 2018 (UTC)).

I might be able to build you a time machine. I would need $850 million US dollars up front. Results would not be guaranteed. Jim1138 (talk) 03:46, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

1. Im Geting Impatient With tv.com Websites Users Taking forever To Read my Mesages so Besides Wikipedia, do You Kno other Websites?

2. I blame CSI Miami director for puting some Dumb Episodes causing Me acidentaly Break tv so You also Agree?

3. In CSI Miami driven, Y didn’t (Dumb Delko & Police) ask Hayden to describe Thief’s face to Dam Sketch Artist?

4. Do You agree that (Delko & Police) r Dumb? If No then Why?(166.216.158.32 (talk) 11:46, 2 January 2018 (UTC)).

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello AntiCompositeNumber, thank you for your efforts in reviewing new pages!
The NPP backlog at the end of the drive with the number of unreviewed articles by creation date. Red is older than 90 days, orange is between 90 and 30 days old, and green is younger than 30 days.

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 3819 unreviewed articles, with a further 6660 unreviewed redirects.
  • We are very close to eliminating the backlog completely; please help by reviewing a few extra articles each day!

New Year Backlog Drive results:

  • We made massive progress during the recent four weeks of the NPP Backlog Drive, during which the backlog reduced by nearly six thousand articles and the length of the backlog by almost 3 months!

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL will end it's initial phase on the 14th of March. Our goal is to reduce the backlog significantly below the 90 day index point by the 14th of March. Please consider helping with this goal by reviewing a few additional pages a day.
  • Reviewing redirects is an important and necessary part of New Page Patrol. Please read the guideline on appropriate redirects for advice on reviewing redirects. Inappropriate redirects can be re-targeted or nominated for deletion at RfD.

Guideline and policy news

  • The autoconfirmed article creation trial (ACTRIAL) is scheduled to end on 14 March 2018. The results of the research collected can be read on Meta Wiki.
  • Community ban discussions must now stay open for at least 24 hours prior to being closed.
  • A change to the administrator inactivity policy has been proposed. Under the proposal, if an administrator has not used their admin tools for a period of five years and is subsequently desysopped for inactivity, the administrator would have to file a new RfA in order to regain the tools.
  • A change to the banning policy has been proposed which would specify conditions under which a repeat sockmaster may be considered de facto banned, reducing the need to start a community ban discussion for these users.

Technical news

  • CheckUsers are now able to view private data such as IP addresses from the edit filter log, e.g. when the filter prevents a user from creating an account. Previously, this information was unavailable to CheckUsers because access to it could not be logged.
  • The edit filter has a new feature contains_all that edit filter managers may use to check if one or more strings are all contained in another given string.
