[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Echo & the Bunnymen, without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. We have some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. JD554 (talk) 10:20, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

JD554, on their Official Site it's written: "Echo & The Bunnymen". But I'll not argue with you because on their official page on MySpace Social Network the call themself "Echo & the Bunnymen". So, how is correctly ? Antara-2009 (talk) 10:26, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:MUSTARD#Titles (bands), "the" should not be capitalized per Wikipedia's manual of style. --JD554 (talk) 10:28, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, thank You very much, JD554 ! By the way, are you administrator of Wikipedia or simple member? Antara-2009 (talk) 10:35, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm not an administrator. --JD554 (talk) 10:39, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Ashes to Ashes – Series 3 (soundtrack album). There is a Manual of Style that should be followed. Thank you. Please do not change the formatting of song titles when they are correctly formatted with quote marks. JD554 (talk) 11:06, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

JD554 I'm half-understand You, but there are some questions about it. For example, where is it says that format "Singer - "Song title"" needed, non "Singer - Song title"? Thank You Antara-2009 (talk) 11:40, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please respond to my comments on the article's talk page. --JD554 (talk) 12:29, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Page moves

[edit]

You should probably read WP:COMMONNAME which has information regarding the names of article being what they are most commonly known as. This may or may not be appropriate for the page moves you just done, but it's further information for you. --JD554 (talk) 13:40, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You. Antara-2009 (talk) 13:45, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I have seen the article changes you have made today and they are in blatant contravention of article titles rules. This is because, the rules state that the names should be the "most likely to look for" when searching, and obviously without me telling you I'm sure you are clever enough to realise that people are more likely to search for "Ray Carling" than "Raymond Carling", as this is the name he is commonly referred to. I personally think they should be changed back, as they are, of course, in contravention of the rules. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 15:57, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit that you made to the page Template:Echo & the Bunnymen has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Please use the sandbox for testing any edits; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. Please do not add or change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did to Bernard Sumner. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. JD554 (talk) 08:15, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Ashes to Ashes — Series 2 (Original Soundtrack) Album Cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Ashes to Ashes — Series 2 (Original Soundtrack) Album Cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. JD554 (talk) 14:47, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cutting and pasting

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. --JD554 (talk) 09:16, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't change the format of dates without good reason, as you did to Ashes to Ashes (soundtrack album). Most British people and many people internationally write dates in day-month-year order, e.g., 12 December 1904. Most Americans use month-day-year order, e.g., December 12, 1904. If the article is about an American topic, use month-day-year. If it is a British or European topic, use day-month-year. If neither, leave it as originally written. Many Americans or British people take offence if an article about their country, written in their local version of English, is changed around to a version they don't use. So please do not do that.

If you have any questions about this, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Enjoy your time on Wikipedia. Thank you. JD554 (talk) 19:03, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ashes to ashes

[edit]

Please can you explain this edit? I've give you all the relevant links and yet you continue to revert. --JD554 (talk) 19:42, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Fade to Grey (Visage song), please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This is particularly important when adding or changing any facts or figures and helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. – IbLeo(talk) 20:20, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Don't move pages by cutting and pasting

Redirects

[edit]

The redirect pages you've nominated for deletions (speedies and prods) are useful redirects to have should the main pages remain (which is by no means certain). Please read WP:REDIR for what constitutes useful redirects, such as other capitalizations or other names. --JD554 (talk) 16:08, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How can I rename page Ashes to Ashes (soundtrack album) to Ashes to Ashes (Original Soundtrack Album) if the last is already created? --Antara-2009 (talk) 16:16, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Read WP:MOVE, all the information you need is there. --JD554 (talk) 16:24, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There says that it neede to mark redirect page for delition what I've done. I understand that I can't to do it that way that I have done last time wit this article, because this situation history of remarks is loose.. --Antara-2009 (talk) 16:28, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Page titles of Ray Carling and Chris Skelton

[edit]

Hello. I left the original message about you moving the pages "Ray Carling" to "Raymond Carling" and "Chris Skelton" to "Christopher Skelton" on 14 April, it is now the 28 April and despite editing since I left the message you have failed to reply. Today, as per article titles rules I have moved the pages back to "Chris" and "Ray", simply because the shortened first names are more likely to be searched than the full names which they are rarely referred to. Thanks. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 13:07, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
