Lakht(y)insky crossover

[edit]

Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 20:30, March 16, 2009 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Razliv, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Dyuny railway station. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed+а.

A tag has been placed on Ligovsky pond requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Oleggazed!

[edit]

12:23, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Andrey! 12:23, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Спасибо!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 19:03, July 6, 2009 (UTC)
Andrey! 11:40, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
11:40, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Спасибо за объяснение!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 13:47, July 7, 2009 (UTC) 13:47, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Другими словами, "Lapka can refer to Łapka, a village in Poland", но "Łapka cannot refer to the Lapka River in Russia".

Не следует также забывать, что дизамбиги из двух предметов в целом бесполезны — гораздо проще в польской статье сверху добавить "For the river in Russia...", а в русской (когда она появится) — "For the village in Poland...".

18:34, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mariinsky Stage Two article

[edit]

Thanks for your comments. I've enjoyed expanding upon the article and have learned a lot about the new opera house. I was in St. Petersburg in 2005 and went to the Mariinsky, of course, but this is the first time that I've learned so much about the new house. When it is finished, it will be a good reason to return!

One question: was the old theatre restored from 2006? We say it was going to happen, but I wonder if it was ever completed. Viva-Verdi (talk) 15:05, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Repair goes without a stop of representations, basically - to summer holidays. The auditorium is essentially updated, the ceiling and a part of boxes is made. Works should be finished in 2010. (News of the end 2008).--Andrey! 15:18, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rail terminals in St. Petersburg}}.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 16:46, August 11, 2009 (UTC)

NVO (talk) 17:43, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
17:56, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I enjoy reading your articles, and I appreciate all of the hard work you are putting into them. If you are okay with me copy-editing them, then I will continue to do so. Ondine

[edit]

There is currently a discussion taking place about the music and the ballet of Ondine. There are two existing articles about the one ballet.

  1. - Ondine (Ashton), which is about the actual ballet choreographed by Frederick Ashton for the Royal Ballet
  2. - Undine (ballet), which is about the same ballet, but primarily focussing on the music and treating the choreography as a secondary topic

Members of the Classical Music Wikiproject want to merge the article about the ballet into the article about the music, but I do not think this should happen, as the music was written specially for this ballet. Please could you visit the discussion page, and vote in favour of keeping the two articles separate, so that the article about the actual ballet is preserved, as it was by one of Britain's most famous choreographers and was one of his most popular ballets. Your help with this would be much appreciated.

See here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Classical_music#Straw_Poll

Please vote Oppose to the Straw Poll and Support to the 2nd Straw Poll.

Many thanks, and I hope to work with you on some ballet related articles in the near future.

Your English is fairly good, but there are some things I do not understand.

  • 'names of founders have remained': is this 'Surviving documents give the names of the founders'
  • 'protege Yakut province Onichkov: A protege is a younger person helped by an older person. My dictionary gives Stavlenik=protege or henchman, but here it must be some kind of government official (??).
  • Arpent: How big was a Russian Arpent? An arpent in the formerly French parts of North America is about an acre, which looks small.
  • What is a Spillikin?
  • Mandative is not English. Is 'Prekaznoy Pavel Kh.' (footnote 6) 'lead by Pavel Kh.'?
  • in veins is not English.
  • what is a fire pier? A pier for fire-fighting boats?
  • ice bridge: GoogleEarth shows a pontoon bridge at Biryulka. Is this used in summer? GoogleEarth seems to show that Biryulka is in flat farming country surrounded by mountains. If this is true, it should probably be part of the article.Benjamin Trovato (talk) 04:05, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Shitik 2007.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Shitik 2007.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 19:02, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo AndreyA, Please do a bit of work on this article which you created. It doesn't make sense as it stands. The first sentence should be something like "... is a railway line in thistown, thatcountry, opened in thatyear". The rest of the article needs more work too. Thanks. PamD (talk) 14:24, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • A quick note. I'd recommmend compiling the whole nest of articles related to Sestroretsk Rail into one text (as it was done in the sole referenced web page). Miller's line can be easily trimmed down to less than half of its current word count (if only to step aside from word-by-word translation of the source). But it was, after all, an insignificant siding and a business flop that ran for thirteen years only - and should be better off as part of a larger article. Andrey, I already mentioned this regarding Vyborg tower: splitting content into overlapping small pieces doesn't work. Keep it together, maybe then other users will help (unfortunately I'm too busy in RL for the next few weeks, and, as you may have guessed, I don't feel that the article should stay at all). Dire Straits

[edit]

I think Exhiki mentioned the Category:Dire Straits was deleted as part of an over categorisation program a couple of years ago. That didn't mean it couldn't be recreated, which I have done. You will need to add the images from the albums (I have done the songs), a short preamble about who Dire Straits were, and any other article which is relevant, but not included in one of the sub-categories. Much better than a navbox of categories don't you think? Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 20:22, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template question

[edit]

Я в Workingman's Institute and Memorial Hall так и сделал для демонстрации.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); February 22, 2010; 16:05 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Tiffany's dance hall overview.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Tiffany's dance hall overview.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:21, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated File:Tiffany's november 1980.jpg for deletion as well. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:21, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This tag goes on the images themselves. It includes an explanation of the problem. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:23, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I consider that use of not free image in article is justified and I do not see discussion on removal of this file--Andrey! 16:27, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Frank, it is not necessary to answer here

[edit]

 Frank  said:--Andrey! 16:33, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since the image is copyrighted, you must provide sufficient reason to keep it. It isn't necessary to show why it should be deleted, because it is WP:COPYRIGHTED and therefore generally cannot be used.  Frank  |  talk  16:29, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict) The discussion is on the image itself. It is in the first box currently displayed on each image page, starting with the words "This image or media has a non-free use rationale that is disputed because of the following concern...." These images will be reviewed by another administrator after a week to see if deletion is appropriate. If you think that these images are usable under non-free content guidelines, you should explain why at the image's talk page. The administrator who reviews the matter will consider your remarks. If you do not respond, the images will almost certainly be deleted on March 9th. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:37, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dire Straits tour

[edit]

Andrey, I have removed all of the notes from the Dire Straits article. More than half of that (very poorly written) article was about anything other than the Dire Straits tour. Here's the deal: on wikipedia, each article is about the subject of the article. If you want to write about something like Tiffeny's, you should do it in an article about Tiffany's, and not in an article about Dire Straits. I hope that's reasonably clear. I have placed the article on my watchlist and will revert any attempt to re-add off-topic information.

Note there was such an article at Tiffany's, dancehall which I nominated for deletion; it was subsequently deleted.  Frank  |  talk  22:49, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. I noticed you were trying to make a subpage of a content page. That is not possible in Wikipedia. I suggest you make the page as a subpage of your Userpage, and then later move it, as a new page, to the mainspace. According to me, your article as it is, is validly nominated for speedy deletion. Shashwat986 (talk) 06:44, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Andrey, you are wrong to try to add the notes to the Dire Straits article. I have already told you that the Dire Straits Tour article should be about the Dire Straits Tour only. There is no place for the Notes in the article, or under the article, or anywhere near the article. If you want to add them then do a proper article on Tiffany's, one that does not get deleted as the last one did. To be honest, I am puzzled that you work on the English wikipedia rather than one in your first language. Your english is not good (clearly, much better than my Russian, but still not good. Not good enough to write articles on the English wikipedia, in my view. --Tagishsimon (talk) 10:46, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:47, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is this original work or a translation of an article from the Russian Wikipedia?

If it is a translation from the Russian Wikipedia, what is the name of the original source article? If it is a translation, when you translate articles you should:

  • Make the edit summary for the first edit be something like "Create article via translation from Russian Wikipedia: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Красный Октябрь"
  • Add this template to the article's talk page soon after you create the article: {{Translated page|ru|Красный Октябрь}}
  • Add this at the bottom of the page: [[ru:Красный Октябрь]] to create a link to the Russian article in the sidebar.

(Obviously, substituting the correct article name for Red October in all cases.)

The first two steps are actually required by our licensing, they have the effect of incorporating the contributions to the original Russian article into the English article, for legal purposes. Thanks and cheers, Herostratus (talk) 15:42, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:12, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
