Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. The Evil IP address (talk) 17:42, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It has become apparent that your account is only being used for spamming inappropriate external links or self-promotion, so it has been blocked indefinitely. Wikipedia is NOT a "repository of links" or a "vehicle for advertising" and persistent spammers will also have their websites blacklisted.

Request reason:

I had been adding links to abcbirds.org on pages for birds that they have projects for, but I didn't realize that adding many links like this was not allowed. I read the Wikipedia page about what is good editing and what is not, and understand that adding these links was not a good idea.

Decline reason:

I'm not too happy about your username or one of the others listed. What is your connection with these other accounts? The Abcbirds is definitely a violation of our username policy WP:USERNAME, but yours could also be regarded as indicating a connection to the site abcbirds.org. Do you understand that accounts are for individuals not groups, and that running multiple accounts is not permitted - if these other accounts are yours, that is... Peridon (talk) 18:15, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

{{unblock|I would like to be able to make helpful and constructive edits to Wikipedia. I now understand that a username is for an individual, and will not try to use it for a group. I have no connection to the other accounts that have been spamming abcbirds.org. I don't know whose accounts they are, or their reasons for spamming abcbirds.org. I could try and change my username so that it could not be understood as having a connection to abcbirds.org, but I don't know how--the Wikipedia page about username changes did not say where to make username change requests.}}

Try {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}. Peridon (talk) 18:44, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed this as it's now redundant - please see the bottom of the page. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:05, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

The username Amyatabc can be connected with abcbirds.org --an organisation, and another user said it would be a good idea not to have that username.

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Peridon (talk) 11:04, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I had been trying to add useful links--but with a bad username--to Wikipedia. I would like to add useful, non-'spam' edits to Wikipedia now that I know that what I had been doing was spam. I do not plan on "spamming" wikipedia, with or without my current username. I am a fairly new Wikipedia editor, and therefore only recently learned of what restrictions there are on editing. I do not plan on continuing with spamming if my username is changed.

Rename request

[edit]

I've moved your request over to Wikipedia:Changing_username/Simple#Amyatabc_.E2.86.92_Amy2011 - there are some issues there that need to be resolved before we can carry out the rename. Could you come by and respond when you get a chance? Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:55, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's OK - you aren't in trouble... Peridon (talk) 20:30, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
