Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

Alternative Music wikiproject
[edit]Hi! I can't give you much advice on the Alternative Music wikiproject itself, as I stopped being heavily involved around 2008 when I (sadly :P) got a full-time job. It seems as though the alternative music crew lost steam around 2012, but there are plenty of other current active projects. My advice would just be to look at articles for your favourite musicians / bands / topics and see if there's any flagged issues to address (they'll use link to some wiki guidelines or policy that you can work off). I hope you have fun editing Wikipedia! - Phorque (talk) 11:16, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 15
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of current members of the United States House of Representatives, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Highland, Indiana. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Orphaned refs on Wisconsin's 2nd congressional district
[edit]Hey, I noticed you added some recent results to the article Wisconsin's 2nd congressional district. I appreciate this - however, you didn't properly copy the references from whichever articles you copied from, so they show up as citation errors. Would you mind fixing this? (also, please keep in mind that you should generally mention which articles you copy content from within your edit summary, when copying within Wikipedia) Elliot321 (talk | contribs) 02:37, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
Also, in your edit of 04:28, 25 January 2021 of Maryland's 2nd congressional district, you introduced three named references not defined in this article. Please fix. —Anomalocaris (talk) 17:19, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable, by being clearly attributed to reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. Examples should specifically be attributed to sources that do not fall under self-sourcing examples. Please help by adding more sources to the article you edited that are not a primary source, and that discuss the example's significance in the context of the topic of the article. Thank you. -- Mikeblas (talk) 15:55, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

Washington's 3rd congressional district.
[edit]Hello AmeriMike, I noticed you've re-added Marie Gluesenkamp Perez to the "List of members representing the district" section in Washington's 3rd congressional district. However, we're not supposed to add these new members until they've been sworn in (on January 3) since they have yet to take office. Also, Beutler is listed as the incumbent in that list at the same time, which obviously is not the case. Thanks, Augusthorsesdroppings10 (talk) 16:31, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Augusthorsesdroppings10,
- I was following the precedent set by other district pages, which also list incoming new members, but understand if you want to remove her until January 3rd. AmeriMike (talk) 00:42, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

[edit]I have reverted your addition of an unsourced date of birth to Christina Vidal. In addition to Wikipedia's basic principle of citing sources (Wikipedia:Citing sources), a special need for citations applies with regard to elements of a biography of a living person (WP:BLPPRIVACY). Ice hockey rosters at the Winter Olympics
[edit]Hello! Can you add all the shirt numbers for the players in Ice hockey tournaments at the Winter Olympics from 1984 to 1994 and also how many games they played, how many points they ended up with, penalty minutes and so on. And also the playing positions they if they were goalies, centres and forwards. 80.212.169.202 (talk) 16:06, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- If I left any rosters without jersey numbers, that's because I wasn't able to find a reliable source for the numbers (it seems like you have for Norway -- assuming that has numbers for other teams I'd be happy to add them if you can forward your source along to me). As far as I can tell, with few exceptions, I already list their positions. And as far as stats go -- those aren't listed for any of the Olympic hockey roster pages, or any of the roster pages for international team sports competitions like Olympics basketball, the WBC, World Juniors, etc. So unless you want to completely overhaul how that's all done I'm a little confused by the ask here. AmeriMike (talk) 16:43, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello again! It is possible to find team roster data in the official Olympic reports as such. It is also possible to find the numbers at Olympedia. 80.212.169.202 (talk) 16:57, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

Listing all communities within a municipality in articles for Congressional districts
[edit]As in this edit to the article for New Jersey's 3rd congressional district, why is it necessary to include the names of all communities within municipalities? If Pemberton Township is included and Country Lake Estates is part of Pemberton Township, then Country Lake Estates is included. Alansohn (talk) 18:09, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Speaking as a New Jerseyean, I personally find it more descriptive/helpful (for instance, I've never heard someone from Colonia describe themselves as being from Woodbrige) but it's also not something I feel strongly enough about to have an argument over and am happy to reverse. However, I will maintain that I think it makes to list any such municipalities for townships split between districts or CDPs split between districts to give a better sense of portions of the municipalities that are included in the district. AmeriMike (talk) 22:32, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- As a fellow New Jerseyean (or is it New Jerseyite), I have frequently seen the phenomenon that you describe, which I call "I live in my ZIP code". Hey where are you from? Colonia. Oh, from Woodbridge Township? No, Colonia.Using Colonia as an excellent example, the article for Colonia, New Jersey, says that it's "an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Woodbridge Township." While there are some details that are specific to Colonia in the article about Colonia as a neighborhood, the place to find the details about political mapping for Colonia would be the article for Woodbridge Township, which would inform the reader that the entire township is "located in the 6th Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 19th state legislative district." The mayor and council for a Colonia resident is the mayor and council of Woodbridge Township. In a township like Woodbridge that is entirely within one congressional district and one legislative district, it seems unnecessary to list all of the communities in an article; All of Woodbridge -- including Avenel, Boynton Beach, Colonia, Edgars, Fords, Hazelton, Hopelawn, Iselin, Keasbey, Little India, Menlo Park Terrace, Port Reading, Sewaren and Woodbridge -- are part of those districts. As such, wouldn't it make sense to limit listings to municipalities and only list communities if they are split across districts? Alansohn (talk) 01:21, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think we're in broad agreement here - I still think there's some value in listing all of the communities, but your point is hard to argue with (it looks cleaner as well).
- I think it makes sense to list CDPs/communities when a township is split between districts -- for instance, Freehold Township is split between the 3rd and 4th districts. I think it would make sense to mention that the portion of Freehold Township within the 3rd district includes the East Freehold and West Freehold CDPs.
- For when CDPs are split -- I'm agnostic, but think it also makes sense not to list them. For instance, Oak Ridge is split between West Milford and Jefferson Townships, which are in two separate districts. Since both West Milford and Jefferson remain intact in their respective districts, there's no need to list Oak Ridge (I realize this contradicted what I wrote earlier). AmeriMike (talk) 04:56, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Again, I think that we are in agreement that it's where municipalities are spilt that providing the breakdown of communities is genuinely relevant for inclusion. Alansohn (talk) 14:09, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Agreed. Appreciate the productive and civil discussion. AmeriMike (talk) 15:52, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
