Sources[edit]

Hi - sorry about this but I've reverted your edits. Foerster is a self-published pseudo-archaeologist/historian with no qualifications. I also don't think that Jack should be mentioned - as I said in my edit summary he can always contact me if he really thinks it's appropriate (I know him - and your professor). Would you please read WP:VERIFY and WP:RS if you haven't already, they are basic policy. Also for some help on inline citations, which you need to use, see Help:Referencing for beginners. Don't forget you need page numbers for books. Happy editing! I'll post something below about edit summaries. Doug Weller talk 05:04, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

April 2019[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Your latest edit is a lot better[edit]

I didn't see until just now. Except for the lack of page numbers, that's a lot better. My only other comment is that we prefer to use secondary sources as much as possible. This avoids the Wikipedia editor choosing which bits of an author to quote or summarise, which could at times be "cherrypicking" and we expect reliable sources to concentrate on significant parts of their work and hopefully to discuss them.
