Hi. Thanks for your contributions to some Hong Kong-related articles. You might be interested to take a look at HK wikipedians' notice board, HK Collaboration of the Week and Current events in Hong Kong and Macao. Happy editing! — Instantnood 08:02, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

I have received 2 notices on my talk page about vandalism which I have not done. All messages were received while I was not logged in (as Ziyingjiang). I think it may be another person with a similiar IP address because my IP address is 64.233.172.38 while the talk page showed my IP address as 222.166.160.77 . Could you please check the recent vandalism again? Thank you a lot.

Warning Messages

[edit]

I recieved a couple of warnings from you about some edits I performed on the Wii article a couple of weeks ago. I assure you my intentions were to clean up what I thought were other people's vandalism, and I'm sorry if I screwed anything up. I'll refrain from editing in the future until I learn a little more about the process. My IP is 65.217.34.2.

Alliance

[edit]

This is user 68.33.194.218, and I would like to propose an alliance between the 2 of us. As you can see, I'm very fascinated by s as well. To mention, I'm a native of HK, and I grew up with MTR because my uncle worked for MTR at Chai Wan depot. From him, I obtained a lot of information concerning MTR, and I would like to share some of those on-line. But as you know I am not an expert, so I would like for us to team up together and edit the MTR articles. Please reply on my user talk page. Thank you!

Your information concerning bus routes is so detailed... are you living in HK right now or in London? Also, just curious; what is your name in Chinese? (68.33.194.218 00:05, 23 October 2005 (UTC))[reply]

Hey Kylohk:

1) I got a new account. It is :ng_iman@USA! :-)

2) Where did you use to live in HK? I used to live in Heng Fa Chuen.

3) Hallo! Thanks a lot for helping me edit the Island Line stations! :-) ...Actually I ought to do some of this on my own :-I ... Oh... well... let's get to work!

4) I cannot edit the articles this coming 3 weeks since my brother-in-law has just discovered he is on the final stage of prostate cancer; I have to make a trip to Canada (Regina) to see him. I'm sorry for this abrupt announcement and but I also hope you understand my situation. Thank You. :-(

Sister of user ng_iman@USA

[edit]

Hi! I'm Daisy, the sister of user ng_iman@USA. My brother had left two days ago for Regina, Canada. Before his departure he told me something about editing MTR stations in Wikipedia, after which he told me about you. What should I do to help you? (Actually, what is this exactly about?) Re: Fortress Hill Station

[edit]

Kylohk:

As outlined at the Second Rail Development Strategy in 2000, in the future there will be a forth harbor-crossing rail line. The strategy recommended that if the extension of the Kwun Tong Line to Whampoa is complete, then not far from now, considerations will be given towards adding a new cross harbour tunnel to relieve the stress load of the current Tseung Kwan O Line and Tsuen Wan Line. I'm back

[edit]

Kylohk:

How are you? I have not been around for more than 2 weeks or so, but the change in my life, over such a short period of time, is dramatic. My brother-in-law, unfortunately, did not make it. He passed away on 11/06/2005, and well... what I can say is... life is tough... but well... sometimes people need meaning in their lives... well, I want to say... better not... sigh... =(

Is there anything I can do now? How are the MTR articles? ng_iman@USA 20:34, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

LegCo vote

[edit]

On the Kwun Tong Line (MTR) page, it say that the LegCo voted on November 12th whether or not to extend the Kwun Tong Line to Whampoa. But what was the result of the vote? Was it passed or objected? I searched on the LegCo's website and there was nothing about the extension. May be it was a prank. ng_iman@USA 12:45, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry. I was going from his article which states:

"He was found guilty on 1 October 1946, of conspiring to commit "crimes against peace" and of "crimes against humanity"."

MTR

[edit]

I'll do a check on the Sha Tin to Central Link (MTR) extension on MTR for references - it's only been recently added. If you have time, please feel free to reformat/restructure the article, so that it remains exceeding the standards of a featured article. Thanks! - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 04:01, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Open proxies

[edit]

I was going to forward your comment to the WikiProject on open proxies until I remembered that having to port scan 255 IPs for open ports is going to be a bit hard for the WikiProject members. :/ It'd be good if you can narrow down which specific IPs you suspect of being open proxies (maybe you've portscanned them yourself?) and then make a new entry in the Alerts section of the WikiProject page. Regards, Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 21:42, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Thanks for watching those pages when I thought the vandal(s) had gone. :)

The issue with this transcript isn't about sources or verifiability. It's just not an encyclopedia's job to reproduce the entire transcript. See [[WP:NOT#REPOSITORY|]], which says "Complete copies of primary sources may go into Wikisource, but not on Wikipedia." I have created an article at Wikisource for the transcript at s:The Bus Uncle, so now The Bus Uncle can link to it, and Transcript of the Bus Uncle video in English can be deleted. –Pomte 23:22, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your query about offline sources

[edit]

In answer to the question you removed, yes, you may cite them. They don't have to be online. If you give byline, headline, name of publication, and date of publication, that's enough information for anyone who wants to look it up. Cheers, SlimVirgin (talk) 22:51, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A-class review of The Bus Uncle

[edit]

Unfortunately, the A-class review department of the WikiProject Biography only evaluates biographies. I have therefore closed your request early. Errabee 22:25, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have fixed that already. Now it doesn't belong to WikiProject Biography anymore. The only reason it belonged to WPBio in the first place, was that it deals with a real-life situation about an incident in the lifes of real person. WP:BLP applies, and I've changed {{WPBiography}} with {{blp}}. Errabee 22:31, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats on the FA! I really expected more criticism, at least more input, but the lack of it in the peer reviews should have been an indicator. –Pomte 07:45, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the general apathy on the FAC was the reason why I mentioned it on WikiProject Hong Kong. But right now, the matter IS settled! How about we shake hands?!--Kylohk 11:28, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding edits to Kung Fu Hustle

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Kylohk! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule play-asia\.com, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links guidelines for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Shadowbot 20:50, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The reason why I added that link was because it contained track information about Kung Fu Hustle's sound track. But I will blank it out for now.--Kylohk 20:56, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kung Fu Hustle images

[edit]

Hi Kyloyk. I am willing to assist with the images for Kung Fu Hustle, if you want. The only one that's watermarked is the one of Sing. I've found a replacement here. The size will need to be significantly reduced and it can be easily cropped to remove the watermark. I can assist with that, if you wish. The problematic screenshots are the one of the Landlady (cool shot from a key moment in the film, but too murky and blurry) and the Coolie (again, just blurry). I have the DVD myself and am willing to try and recapture the Landlady with the bell and a shot of the Coolie. Let me know, I am happy to help. The current number of images is likely appropriate and probably should not be increased, though I thought there were more of them at one point. — WiseKwai 00:25, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It'll take me about 24 to 48 hours, but consider it done. — WiseKwai 07:30, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Numbers

[edit]

I wasn't aware of a style, but I looked and there is one. It's really quite helpful, not only on numbers but on dates as well. Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers). Basically, numbers from zero to ten are spelled out; higher numbers may be spelled out if they can be stated in two words or less. Things like monetary figures, measurements, dates, times and percentages are always numerals.

I really like the expansion on the production section. I'd forgotten that Sammo Hung had been involved with the film early on. — WiseKwai 20:20, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kung Fu Hustle GA review

[edit]

Now that I've gotten involved in the actual editing of the article, it wouldn't be proper for me to promote it. An impartial editor will have to take that task on. But I will be watching it, and will continue to act in a supporting role to you, as the primary author. I think it's ready for the review. — WiseKwai 20:37, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Very well then.--Kylohk 20:38, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • Kylohk, I let my enthusiasm and love for Kung Fu Hustle get in the way, when I should have kept my distance and impartiality during the peer review process. Probably, I stepped on your toes. I apologize for that. I hope there are no hard feelings. I look forward to the results of the GA review, and seeing this article progress further. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. — WiseKwai 19:28, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I did link to the application page. However, when I made the AFD, the application page still had Survivor 15 only. Please see my comment at the top of the AFD. --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@ (Let's go Yankees!) 14:12, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion at Black Reel Awards

Please see my comment at User_talk:Cmart514#Your_edit_to_Black_Reel_Awards and the comment directly above that one. In short, the deletion was a good thing. Best, --Alabamaboy 22:52, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. Didn't know what was going on at that article.--Kylohk 23:02, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kung Fu Hustle: The next step

[edit]

Congratulations on Kung Fu Hustle being named a Good article! I have asked the WP:FILM assessment department to consider upgrading it to A-class, which is just one notch below FA, and slightly better than a GA. — WiseKwai 11:56, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shaolin Soccer

[edit]

I have greatly improved the Shaolin Soccer page, but it is not nearly as good as it could be. I noticed how you edited the Kung Fu Hustle page into GA status. Do you think you would be interested on doing the same for the Shaolin Soccer page? I love Stephen Chow movies, so I think all of his movies should have good articles. Image:Bus Uncle A.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bus Uncle A.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The same for Image:Bus Uncle B.jpg and Image:Bus Uncle C.jpg. Resurgent insurgent 14:43, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that these photos are probably not available in free-licensed form anywhere. But when Wikipedia:Non-free content talks about "replaceability", it does not only mean that these specific images cannot be replaced. An image is considered replaceable if a free-licensed alternative can be found to satisfy the purpose that the fair use images are being used for. The free-licensed image does not have to be identical or similar to the fair use image. For this article, since we are only showing what these three people look like, any photo of them taken by anyone at any time, which is released under a free license, can replace the fair use images. Jane Harvey page deleted

[edit]

I was surprised to see that the Jane Harvey page I have been working on has been deleted (maybe by you, but I'm not sure), after seeing this message from DGG on the discussion page: "I think at this point the article seems to not just assert but demonstrate notability, so I decline to delete it as speedy--Good job, Chrischmoo. DGG <http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:DGG>" I was very pleased to see DGG's message as I had gone to some effort to make improvements to the article and I do believe Jane Harvey is is 'notable'. I say that I agreed with Corvus Cornix which I now realise was a mistake. I am a new inexperienced user, and as it seemed the page was doomed & I did not feel qualified to argue, I just wanted it deleted as soon as possible. Now, in view of DGG's comments I am thinking I should republish it. I have also asked his advice. Thanks for any help/advice you can give. Chrischmoo 20:54, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I see, but I did not delete it. I thought it wasn't going to be deleted since the CSD tag was removed by DGG, but I guess someone else disagreed. Sorry to hear about the deletion.--Kylohk 21:03, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your AIV report

[edit]

Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. Anas talk? 19:11, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
