26th Division
[edit]I was wondering how you would feel about consolidation of the 26th Division (German Empire) with the 26th Infantry Division (Germany). I would be willing to combine them and submit it for your review prior to posting. Pen of bushido 18:28, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- There was no continuity of history and tradition between divisions of the Imperial German Army and the Wehrmacht, so articles on their divisions should be separate. There was continuity for regimental traditions through the regiments of the Weimar-era Reichswehr, but this did not extend to the Reichswehr's divisions, which became the foundation of the Wehrmacht's. Hi Airbornelawyer,
I noticed you recently created the article about Jakob Ritter von Danner. I just wanted to let you know that you can announce any new Germany-related articles at Portal:Germany/New article announcements and Portal:Germany/New articles. That way other users interested in the topic can see them and might improve them.
You may also be interested in the WikiProject Germany.
Thanks,
Welcome!
[edit]Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, offline publication, article improvement contests, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a variety of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Carom 14:59, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Re: German divisions
[edit]Excellent work so far - I have rerated the articles as Start-class and removed the stub tags. Please do add whatever information that you have, at which point they would probably meet the B-class criteria - anything beyond that is subject to broader review, and really depends on how much work you're inclined to put in. Again, good work so far! Carom 05:03, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

... and others.
To answer your questions, in order:
- They (all the divisions) flag as similar to the 10th simply because the 10th is what pops up on searches (the others are probably too recent to be found via search engines, especially those you have put today);
- while there is a provision to whitelist a web site, there isn't one to whitelist specific articles. I will implement such a feature but it may take a day or two;
- I understand the messages may be a bit distracting, but you must understand you're doing something that, while legitimate, is very rare (creating a lot of articles all based basically on the same pattern), and no bot could hope to be able to distinguish between that and the much less legitimate practice of vandalism by repeated cut-and-paste;
- you can, of course, simply snip the templates without having to tell anyone—
- you can also avoid getting the templates at all (as a work around until I implement a way to whitelist your series of articles) by creating the article with a placeholder and replacing the contents with your paste a few minutes later. CSBot only looks at new articles, not further edits. It can take a minute or two before it gets to your article, however, so replacing the placeholder too soon might still get the warning.
I'm sorry if this is inconveniencing you. As I said above, I'll implement an exception for your particular editing pattern, but it might take a day or two. Please accept my apologies if you get distracted by it in the meantime. — Coren (talk) 04:07, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
17th Division (German Empire)
[edit]Hi Airbornelawyer. You are off to such a great start on the article 17th Division (German Empire) that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. The Main Page gets about 4,000,000 hits per day and appearing on the Main Page may help bring publicity and assistance to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created and if you haven't already done so, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. If you do nominate the article for DYK, please cross out the article name on the "Good" articles proposed by bot list. Also, don't forget to keep checking back at Did you know suggestions for comments regarding your nomination. Again, great job on the article. -- JayHenry 04:59, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Airbornelawyer,
could you please consider uploading your really nice pics on commons? Many of those could be of good use in the German Wikipedia aswell. Thinking of Hanseatic crosses and others. I could include them there.--Tresckow 23:46, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- I don't know how to upload onto Commons, but you may upload any that you see fit. Airbornelawyer 23:50, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- well basically it works exactly the same way. Just that you have to go to another page to upload them. I know I just could upload them myself, of course. But that would be kind of inefficient. In case you want to use Wikicommons, heres the link: [1] I interwikied some of your articles with their german counterparts.--Tresckow 00:12, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Konrad Krafft von Dellemensingen
[edit]Dear Airbornelawyer, do you happen to know somebody who could translate this passage into English?
Dann darauf führt dies in letzter Linie hinaus.“ (Müller, KvD. Porträt eines bayerischen Offiziers, Seite 554ff.)
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konrad_Krafft_von_Dellmensingen
217.238.49.13 15:58, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- It basically describes Krafft as a rabid anti-Semite, and includes several quotes from him, among others, to the effect that Britain was controlled by Jews, and that a hard fight was ahead, whose end was not foreseen, which would resolve the question of questions, and apparently lead to a war of annihilation agaist world Jewry. Several quotes are truncated, so it is not clear that the author didn't leave something out or combine different quotes, but it does make Krafft sound like, as the author states, one who had assumed the vocabulary of Nazi propaganda. I am unfamiliar with the author and he does not provide sources for the quotes from Krafft (or if he did, the person who included it in German Wikipedia left out the footnotes). It is strongly POV, so I would definitely want additional support before including it. I wrote a bio just sticking to straightforward biographical details and did not include this from German Wikipedia for these reasons. If clearer sourcing and relevance could be established, maybe it would be includable, even if POV. An example of relevance would be an article on another Bavarian officer, like Franz Ritter von Epp, which would not just describe his military career but would also include his Nazi Party career (Ritter von Epp served as the Nazi governor of Bavaria). Hi Airbornelawyer, I see you're our primarily contributer on German divisions. I've been trying to expand the coverage of Soviet formations, and have just created 6th Rifle Division (Soviet Union). As per the discussion on the German TF talkpage, I've created the above redlink with the (Wehrmacht) suffix for the 258th ID, which is mentioned in the 6th's article. If you'd like a break from World War I divisions, please do write something for the 258th. Cheers Buckshot06 12:06, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

The task force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities is happy to announce that there are now (at least) stub articles for all municipalities of Germany. Now the task force is looking for help in fleshing these out a little bit. The current phase of activity for the task force is to copy in infoboxes from the articles in German Wikipedia. If you want to help, even just for a few articles, look at the instructions and links here
There are now way over 26.000 articles tagged as part of our Wikiproject and many still need either an importance or a quality assessment. Also there are many more out there that do need to be tagged like approx 8000 municipalities. If you would like to help take a browse through Articles needing Importance assessment or Articles needing a basic quality assessment. |

Image copyright problem with File:HEK3Xobv.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:HEK3Xobv.jpg.
This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.
Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. Magog the Ogre (talk) 21:02, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:02, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
