[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Lugbara cuisine has been reverted.
Your edit here to Lugbara cuisine was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://lugbaraculture.blogspot.com/2008/12/lugbara-cookery.html) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 12:25, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Just to let you know, I nominated the FUCAFF logo (File:FUCAFF.jpg) for speedy deletion on commons. If it is truly your own work (i.e. you created the logo and are the sole copyright holder) you can contest the deletion on commons. Otherwise, I suggest that you upload the logo locally. Tag it with {{Non-free logo}} and use {{Non-free use rationale logo}} on it as well. Ryan Vesey Review me! 15:56, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Ryan, I created that logo myself. I'm actually giving information for topics that no one is willing to expand on but I know from personal experience and research. Thanks for feedback! Aikolugbara (talk) 16:03, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I removed the speedy tag; however, editors will question that the logo was created by you. Can you send an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org as soon as possible stating that you created the image yourself and released it into the public domain? Assuming you have a FUCAFF email address, you should use that. The tag I put up states that the permission has already been sent. Ryan Vesey Review me! 16:12, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on UFFA (Uganda) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. WWGB (talk) 13:04, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

UFFA is a very important association in the transport industry of uganda, it has many member companies that play significant logistical roles in Uganda's customs sector. It isn't just a company but an umbrella body for several companies working with Uganda Revenue Authority...thx! Aikolugbara (talk) 13:45, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the speedy deletion tag because I thought it was significant at a minimum. You'll need to prove that there are a wide range of sources available to keep it from being deleted at AFD. Ryan Vesey Review me! 13:48, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again Ryan, that might just be the last association article i will create, the rest will be edits for other people's entries. Otherwise, I am trying to get more sources for these articles. Thanks! Aikolugbara (talk) 14:10, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Joel Okuyo Atiku has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Bihco (talk) 17:49, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, references exist and will be added, just give us time...Besides, the person in question was already included on a wikipedia article's list of award winners so a page was created to expand on the entry name Aikolugbara (talk) 07:18, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Aikolugbara. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Joel_Okuyo_Atiku, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Joel_Okuyo_Atiku to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you need help doing so, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks, SarahStierch (talk) 06:32, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Lugbara phrasebook

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Lugbara phrasebook. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Lugbara language. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Lugbara language – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. noq (talk) 12:03, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks alot for the feedback. I believe my article is relevant but maybe I should have placed it in Wiki-travel articles. Whatever you guys decide, I will gladly welcome, won't be discouraged. Aikolugbara (talk) 17:23, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you continue to enjoy editing Wikipedia and I am glad you have not been discouraged by the deletion notices.noq (talk) 17:55, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Matt Bish, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.observer.ug/index.php?option=com_content&id=16891:matt-bish-not-crazy-about-kinna-uganda&catid=42:sizzling-entertainment&Itemid=74.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 17:54, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Bot probably found similarities, but not sentences. The site was just a reference because it is in the public domain. Aikolugbara (talk) 18:12, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I noticed you have been working on many Ugandan films lately, I just wanted to let you know that I have added a few links to some of your articles. It is always better to de-orphan Wikipedia articles. I added links to Africa Movie Academy Awards and Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. These links will also improve the notability of this films.Darreg (talk) 08:43, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, makes editing Wikipedia more Fun when you have Backup from other Editors (instead of Deletions which deflated my interest a bit in creating articles. @Aikolugbara:Don't be discouraged, some editors are not patient with new editors. I had similar challenges when I started editing on Wikipedia. African articles are poorly represented and any proper form of addition will be appreciated. I never knew you had replied until now (that is why the ping template should always be used). @Darreg:Thank you a Million Million Times! I saw what you did only this week but was very amazed like after reading your message last month! That was fantastic even though it's for Awarded Movies, thank you again a Million Million Times! • Aikolugbara (talk) 07:44, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome bro. What was added below the article is called a "Template". They are often added for easy navigation of the key points of an article. My best way of learning on Wikipedia is by observing similar subjects of my proposed article; that way, you will easily get tips (and develop skills) on making yours similar to them. What is the name of the director you wanted to edit? I could create a template for all the films he has directed, that is if of-course they are notable films.Darreg (talk) 20:14, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing, whether it's a river in Malawi, a Nigerian footballer, or a South African civil rights activist, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. For those of you who signed up to the North African contest, that will hopefully be held in the new year. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:11, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your request on Meta to create a Lugbara Wiktionary

[edit]

Aikolugbara: On behalf of the WMF Language Committee, I am trying to go through a backlog of old requests to create projects. I found there your request to create a Wiktionary in Lugara. In theory, this proposal should be considered "eligible". That is, the request is valid in principle, and once a test project is sufficiently developed, a project could be approved.

The problem is that you never started creating content on Incubator. You created only a single page, incubator:Wt/lgg/Main Page, and that's it. So here's my question for you: Are you still interested in doing this? If so, please start creating content in Incubator, using the prefix "Wt/lgg". And if you do that, I will mark the proposal as "eligible".

If you don't want to do this now, don't worry. I would close the request as "Rejected/stale". All that means is that I am closing the proposal until such a time as a community decides it wants to start working on the project. LangCom would be happy to entertain a new request at that point. And in any event, you can always create content in Incubator, even without such a request open.

Please let me know what you decide. You can answer here; I will keep an eye on the page. For LangCom: StevenJ81 (talk) (clerk to LangCom) 13:42, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I decided to create my own Lugbara Dictionary elsewhere, but thanks for the reply... Aikolugbara (talk) 02:03, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back to me. StevenJ81 (talk) 17:32, 22 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Aikolugbara. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Leak Proof Mission (2018 short film), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Of course I do not want the article deleted, that's why I created it. However, if you want it removed, it's your choice; I've edited what I can... Aikolugbara (talk) 16:52, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable film review sites for Ugandan and other East African films

[edit]

Hello Aikolugbara,

Happy new year to you. I hope you can still remember me, we go way back in 2014. I use to be known by "Darreg" when we encountered each other then. I know you contribute to many Ugandan film articles at the time. I am working on creating a comprehensive list of film-specific reliable sources that are centered on African cinema. Do you know of any film review site in Uganda that you believe can be cited on Wikipedia? Even if you are not certain, just nominate like three to me, I'll review them to see if they are reliable sources. Regards. HandsomeBoy (talk) 23:15, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late Reply, only seen your Message today after a Midseason Uganda Premier League Hiatus. I definitely can never forget Darreg coz you also gave me my First Wikipedia Award, heehee, felt so huge! Anyway, New Vision Newspaper [1] has always had good Film Reviews. I can say the same for Daily Monitor Newspaper [2], but the other Organisation I can recommend is AMAKULA [3] coz they deal exclusively with Film... Non-notable film, lacking significant coverage per WP:NF

Joel Aita moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Joel Aita, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Celestina007 (talk) 21:43, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to add independent reference sources I know are noteable plus the subject's own. Will add more citations nonetheless. Aikolugbara (talk) 05:31, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Celestina007, you never took the time to wait, I was going to add more independent articles but found my write-up in draftspace... Aikolugbara (talk) 05:51, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Maureen Nankya

[edit]

Adding content like "an undeniable spark and majestic star presence" to the Maureen Nankya article is clearly not neutral and offering an opinion. Please don't do that. You also added a number of facts about her career and her names that was unsourced. Please cite what you add to articles. Thanks. Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:47, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for correcting me concerning opinions, but for facts, we do not have to put too many references. Common sense dictates that there are other people who have seen her movies. Aikolugbara (talk) 08:58, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

September 2022

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Maureen Nankya, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Dl2000 (talk) 13:45, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What's wrong with the two sources I added? Every information I added about Mona is public knowledge here in Uganda; you're being mean for no reason. Use common sense, you can google the data! Why would I post falsehood? Aikolugbara (talk) 13:58, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Don't panic -- I'll assume the two citations you added are reliable sources. However, the item on The Office TV series should still have a citation so I just tagged that part for now. You should probably take some time to review Wikipedia policies and guidelines such as WP:BLP (policies on biographies of living persons). Also note WP:BURDEN, it is not the obligation of the readers or editors to "google the data", and not everyone is familiar with the Ugandan entertainment industry. You're not being accused of posting falsehood, but someone else could enter problematic information. Citations and sourcing can help confirm the article material and control vandalism. Hope this explanation helps, and again hope you have a chance to check out the various Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Dl2000 (talk) 17:50, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Voice of Life

[edit]

Hello Aikolugbara, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Voice of Life, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Voice of Life.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Dclemens1971}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
