"Discouraging the blanking talk pages" is not the same thing as prohibiting it. Your claim of "bad faith" on my part is just a matter of bad timing. I had maintained my talk page intact for quite some time and just recently (not even a month ago) decided to blank it. If you want to keep on believing that I'm trying to hide something then that's your choice. RfB mania! :)

Actually, dear Eddie, there were 6 RfBs today for a while, before Majorly stepped down ;) Trust me, nobody, and I do mean nobody, had ever seen anything like that, ever. It certainly proves that the community has changed its opinion that we didn't need more bureaucrats, and I believe some of our senior members, who had been holding of for a while exactly for that reason, understood this change in the general perception and decided this was the best time to run for it. I'm convinced that we will get at least two, maybe three new bureaucrats from this process, which will satisfy our needs for at least a whole year, if not more. Eddie, I don't believe we have really interacted much before but please let me be the first person to ask you to reconsider your retirement. I have noticed you around Wikipedia on numerous occasions and have always been impressed with your politeness and overall attitude. Hey Eddie! I saw the exchange on the Che Guevara talk page--they were accusing you of being a sock of Ed Poor!?! If you check into the history of Ed Poor, he was a former bureaucrat here, with quite a distinguished history (whether you agree with his actions or not, he definitely has made an impact on Wikipedia)! You could take a look at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Ed Poor for more information. I would definitely take that accusation with a grain of salt, if not a whole saltshaker's worth. In any case, it sounds like you have been deeply hurt by some of the things people have said to you here, and for that I am saddened. I do applaud your judgement however, in that if Wikipedia is causing you stress and pain, then it is probably a good thing for you to instead focus on things that make you happy. After reviewing my contributions, I have concluded that I'm damaging Wikipedia more than I'm helping it. Because of this, I have decided to cease editing Wikipedia. I want to thank everyone who ever helped me; you made my time here great. I will miss you all. I believe Wikipedia is a great project and I'm sure it will be very successful. I only have one suggestion: Always remember that the community is what makes Wikipedia go round. P.S. To those who don't know why I've decided to leave, I'll tell you. During my time here, I've been the subject of ageist comments, political attacks, I've been accused of being a sockpuppet several times, the most recent being today, for just trying to help out, I have been yelled at for not assuming good faith, while the yeller didn't assume good faith, and many more things. I would never do anything to hurt Wikipedia, and as a Catholic, I am hurt by the fact that people believe I have lied to destroy other people's work. You made me laugh when commented my "Pa'l carajo", but now I find that you are "retiring". Look, Eddie we need excellent contributors like you here so, do not let a minor skirmish get you down. Let me tell you something, recently I went through a situation here and I was even stripped of my admin powers, I was about to retire myself, but I found out that there were more users in the community that were my friends then I ever thought possible.

I found out that my contributions in Wikipedia are helping to change the negative impression that people have of Puerto Ricans. People from all walks of life have congartulated me for my work, including Historians, Politicians and the Pentagon. What I'm trying to tell you is to do what you were doing best in Wikipedia. Do what gave you pleasure. It is people like you that we need here, to help educate others.

1) It is not enough to provide a fair use rationale, but the rationale must fit the allowed ones. None of the rationale you provided do. Please re-read WP:NFC, and it should become clear.

2) I am not implying you *stole* the image. Please cool down. I am saying your fair use rationale is not a good one. No one owns content in wikipedia, and simply doing housekeeping cannot be taken as a personal attack, and since we always assume good faith, and you have no reason to believe otherwise in my case, you cannot possibly construe malice on my part. There is none.

3) WP:DTTR is an opinion essay, not a policy or guideline. I disagree with it, because it creates an artificial separation between editors, so I am under no obligation to follow it.

4) Why are you responding in such a hostile manner?

Eddie, you seem to be confusing something: labeling an image non-free for reasons of copyright doesn't mean that I am accusing you of violating the law: Wikipedia is not a moot court. If you cannot take my word for it, please ask an administrator with experience in these things. Perhaps even Jimbo Wales himself. What I do care about is wikipedia including non-free images that might hold us liable when someone exercises the commercial rights allowed under GFDL. I'm very sad that you decided to leave and even more sadder with the fact that there are less of us to make Wikipedia a better place. I'm Hirohisat (you should be able to know it from my sig, though), and I live in Hawaii. Seeing that you live in Puerto Rico, I wanted to ask you what Coquis mean to Puerto Ricans. Over here in Hawaii, people complain about Coquis at night (I love to hear them, though), but wanted a different point of view like from people that knows Coqui longer than us. Takk for your time! Closing AFDs

Please don't close AFDs as delete, especially if you are looking at an RFA as there has been prior RFAs that either failed or barely passed because of the user doing the same thing you doing. WikiProject Articles for creation

WikiProject Articles for creation Backlog Elimination Drive News!

We are one week in to the drive, and it's already going fantastic. Numerous days of backlogs have been tackled, with hundreds of articles having been reviewed. We do, however, have some news!

First off, a HUGE congratulations to everyone participating so far. I understand some members are inactive due to vacation, but we are still making great progress.

Secondly, make sure that before you go off and review old submissions, that you review all submissions for the present day, and the day before, so that we aren't actually making a bigger backlog, by letting submissions get archived while we're checking stuff from 2006.

Third, remember to update your running total, on the drive page. Honesty is the best policy, so if you lie about the number of articles you've reviewed, we'll all make angry faces while looking at your userpage.

And, last, if you have any questions about the drive, feel free to ask me, or any other members of the project.

Great job, everyone! We're going to get that backlog!

Unusual Adoption Request

Hi! Im an English teacher in Toluca Mexico (west of Mexico City). My Advanced B classes will be contributing to Wikipedia as the focus of their English course for Fall 2007. I am looking for people who would like to mentor my students (who will be working in groups) as they do the following assignments: Edit and article (adding a citation), writing a stub with a citation, translating an English language article for Spanish Wikipedia and for the final project, writing a full article for English Wiki (they can expand on the stub mentioned previously). What I would like to do is put a list of "mentors/adopters" on my talk page as a kind of short cut for my students, who have limited time to get things done. The semester begings Aug 6, but the real Wikipedia work wont begin until the beginning of Sept. I am not a new user so to speak, I've had an account on here before, and before I had began editting again, I refreshed my mind on some of wikipedia policies.

To boricua, I do not put "warn user" on every AfD, I did twice, once to an authour who created the page several times, and the other time, I was at first against it.

Although all edits are important (I made a few to the James Coonan article), AfDs seem to be the most fun and interesting.
