Hello, I'm Rdp060707. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to Anti-Chinese sentiment in the United States because they seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. ----Rdp060707|talk 06:39, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't revert my contributions without contacting me and getting my consent first. I have undone your revert of my contributions. thank you so much! Aceuswa (talk) 18:03, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Joe Nguyen shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Aceuswa, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Blocked for sockpuppetry

[edit]
Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked temporarily from editing for abusing multiple accounts per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Aceuswa. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  GeneralNotability (talk) 02:24, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@GeneralNotability:SounderBruce is the one that started this first and deleted my content without consultation 3 times in a row, and SounderBruce used Firestar464 to revert my changes for the third time within half an hour, 1 minute after leaving the three-revert rule warning on my talk page, Please look into sockpuppetry issue of SounderBruce and Firestar464, also SounderBruce went on deleting my contributions at Anti-Chinese_sentiment_in_the_United_States, as a Chinese immigrant myself living in Washington (State) for the past more than a quarter of century, I'm just wondering what exactly is it that SounderBruce is trying to hide here ? Thank you GeneralNotability and other admins so much in advance for being fair and regulating the real abusers! Aceuswa (talk) 08:23, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Aceuswa, I am quite confident that neither of SounderBruce/Firestar464 is a sockpuppet of the other. And regardless of who started what, you should not be edit-warring, and using multiple accounts to hide your edit-warring is entirely unacceptable. Unblock request

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Literally within 1 minute after SounderBruce left his three-revert rule warning message at User talk:Aceuswa#May_2021 at 07:45, 7 May 2021 (UTC), Firestar464 came in and reverted all my changes under Joe Nguyen for the third time at 07:46, 7 May 2021 (UTC), even swifter than a phone call to tell a friend to do that. Quite honestly, relatively new here, I follow what other people do. I thought SounderBruce was using a different account of his to revert my edits when he tried to revert mine and met with resistance. SounderBruce seems to know the rules, so I thought I'd just follow his "best practice". SounderBruce should know better to not engage an editing war. Just look at his recent contributions, SounderBruce has been engaging in editing wars on multiple pages. In retrospect, now I understand SounderBruce is not really a good example to follow. May I request my block to be lifted given the circumstances ? 7 day block is a bit harsh to a first timer, who followed a bad example. Furthermore, what steps would Wikipedia take for someone like SounderBruce to knowingly engage in editing wars? Aceuswa (talk) 00:21, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

This is a text book example of how to not request an appeal, in that it simply blames the other guy and doesn't address your own actions. Dennis Brown - 21:54, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

GeneralNotability, @GeneralNotability: SounderBruce just restated his editing war by deleting other's contributions at Joe Nguyen, hope you can enforce the same rule on him, thanks. Aceuswa (talk) 08:04, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:NOTTHEM and WP:ASPERSIONS. The fact that you have two unblock requests open is disruptive. One at a time please. Firestar464 (talk) 10:45, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
GeneralNotability, @GeneralNotability: Removed duplicate unblock request Aceuswa (talk) 16:15, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to try to clarify a few things here.

  • Your edits to Joe Nguyn were undone because they lacked appropriate reliable sources. Articles about living people are covered under WP:BLP, which requires extra strict sourcing.
  • Your edits to Anti-Chinese sentiment in the United States were undone because they were WP:UNDUE. The article is about the entire history of Anti-Chinese sentiment in the whole US, not just some current events in one state. I understand the issue is important to you. But if you want to implement political change, Wikipedia is NOT the place to do it. If you want to spread the word, write a letter to your editor, your elected officials, organize protests in your area. But trying to hijack Wikipedia to spread your concerns is not going to work.
  • You were blocked a week because it seems pretty obvious that either you asked someone, or someone asked you, to help edit a set of articles. We consider that to be "meatpuppetry", which is the illicit recruitment of multiple people to influence the outcome of an article. Coordinating with folks off-wiki to try to push your agenda is not welcome here.
  • You do seem interested in helping Wikipedia, so I hope you stick around. But, you will need to change your approach a fair bit. I can't imagine your block will be lifted early unless you show understanding of your own failings in this matter. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 19:19, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

:CaptainEek, @CaptainEek:, @GeneralNotability: , @Justice1980:, @Kleinpecan:

Take a look at this comparison: https://interaction-timeline.toolforge.org/?wiki=enwiki&user=SounderBruce&user=Firestar464&startDate=1619827200&endDate=1620691199

on 5/7/21, SounderBruce reverted Joe Nguyen twice at 7:20(1st time) and 7:35(2nd time), then Firestar464 reverted back to SounderBruce’s version at 7:46(3rd time)

on 5/7/21, SounderBruce reverted Anti-Chinese sentiment in the United States at 9:43(1st time),

on 5/8/21, SounderBruce reverted Anti-Chinese sentiment in the United States at 7:18(2nd time),

on 5/9/21, SounderBruce reverted Joe Nguyen at 7:19(4th time), then Firestar464 reverted Anti-Chinese sentiment in the United States back to SounderBruce’s version at 10:49(3rd time).

clear case of "meatpuppetry" knowingly by SounderBruce and Firestar464. 7 reverts repeatedly on two pages within just two days. -- Aceuswa (talk) 01:21, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Aceuswa, editors may coordinate to try to improve Wikipedia, and veteran Wikipedians occasionally coordinate to try to solve issues. That is not meatpuppetry. You have linked to the meatpuppetry page, so I hope you have read it. What *is* meatpuppetry is when someone recruits a new editor to create an account for the sole purpose of pushing a POV in a dispute, which is what you appear to have done with Justice1980. Regardless, trying to accuse others of misdeeds is not going to get you unblocked any faster. The only way you will get unblocked is to examine your own conduct and suggest how you will do better in the future. With luck, this can just be a rough learning curve that you pass, and come out better for it on the other side :) CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 01:38, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
CaptainEek, ok, thanks, got it, it only applies to some, but not to others. "what you appear to have done" is just as good as "Firestar464 and SounderBruce appear to be sockpuppets" then, in other word, pure speculation at the best. I'm not trying to accuse others, simply trying to examine the ways people do things here in order to avoid blocks. There are proper steps to challenge or discuss content based on merit, I doubt conspired reverts and blocks would help. -- Aceuswa (talk) 02:48, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Its not pure speculation, checkuser data combined with off-wiki evidence from Justice1980 indicates that you may have worked together. It is suspicious that you both happened to edit the same articles and make almost the same edits. Where this differs from what Sounder and Firestar may have done is that they were editing to enforce our strict WP:BLP and sourcing policies, and they aren't trying to hide the fact that they work together. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 02:53, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
CaptainEek, yes, it's obvious, they worked together to out gun my restores. I understand you have strict WP:BLP and sourcing policies, I appreciate that and I'm all for it. But you need to tell me specific reasons for each specific piece of content and source instead of reverting trunks of my work. I know I have been very careful preparing the content with reputable sources. Thanks. -- Aceuswa (talk) 03:40, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well in the future, if your work gets reverted, you should stop and discuss. We call that WP:BRD, Bold, Revert, Discuss. You make a bold change, someone reverts if they disagree, the issue is then discussed. You don't keep reverting, as that is edit warring. We have a great many ways to discuss and solve problems on-wiki. A general discussion is first, then you can try a third opinion or formal dispute resolution. Or you can hold a request for comment once you get a solid question that folks disagree on and can be formulated generally as a "yes/no". CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 03:47, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
