Information icon Hello, I'm Pinkshrimp. I noticed that you made a change to an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Pinkshrimp (talk) 07:47, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article List of Day Night test cricket records has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable trivia and original research – AFAIK there are no cricket databases that segregate their records based on the time of day matches were played.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. IgnorantArmies (talk) 13:23, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Ajantha Mendis. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 07:08, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have made a big mistake by not giving the enough citations

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Abongile Sodumo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. —Oluwa2Chainz »» (talk to me) 14:48, 28 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Abishe:

Visit my user page and click on the links provided, it would provide quintessential / pivotal guidelines for you to follow, that way you familiarize yourself with the polices and avoid getting your article deleted, it is in your best interest to heed this piece of information. Celestina007 (talk) 01:21, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore creating an article for a friend or perhaps relative isn't adviced because your relationship with subject may impair your better judgement and hereby causing bias. Try to advoid it because any editor here can spot articles in this category in less than 59 seconds and under CSD A7 your article would be deleted which may cause you to be sad, so please refrain from such. Is there a possibility to create article on a short film?

[edit]

I am aware of the Wikipedia policies that the articles, templates etc should follow the guidelines of Wikipedia. But my friends desperately asking me to create article related to their own short film called "Yathaartham".Yathaartham.I know it is not suitable to Wikipedia because there are not much facts about related to this short film.On the other hand I also understand the fact that we can't able to create any article in favour of our relations.I am asking this question because I have to prove to them that this is not an easy task.Abishe (talk) 04:43, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Show this page to your friend: Wikipedia:Notability. Wikipedia in general is not interested in what people, societies or companies would like to publish about their achievments, their environment, their friends and themselves. Wikipedia relies on what others say about them. And 'others' need to be published, well-known, reliable sources – see Wikipedia:Verifiability. --CiaPan (talk) 07:01, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How to prove whether I'm honest in working with Wikipedia

[edit]

Abishe (talk) 08:54, 3 March 2017 (UTC)Well recently the experienced editors have deleted the article on List of International Cricket Records. At least I had got the information about it earlier.I'm also respecting their decision for this proposed deletionAbishe (talk) 08:54, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Abishe, and welcome to the Teahouse. There is no need to prove that you are honest in your Wikipedia activities. Other editors are required to assume good faith when looking at your contributions. That being said, trying your hardest to create good content is not always enough, and pages will get deleted if they don't comply with various policies and guidelines. Creating a new article from scratch is one of the most difficult tasks on Wikipedia, and it's not a recommended undertaking for brand new editors. You may wish to try out editing existing pages first to learn about editing. If you do decide to create a new page, you should follow the instructions here: Wikipedia:Your first article. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 09:11, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again Abishe, discussing your ideas with other interested editors at WP:WikiProject Cricket is also a good idea. The experienced Wikipedians there can give you some guidance and you would get a sense of what the community thinks about the topic andwether such an article should exist. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:25, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, you created List of Day Night test cricket records. There has not been a page called List of International Cricket Records. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:30, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have doubts over the deletion of article on "Abongile Sodomo?"

[edit]

Abishe (talk) 14:44, 4 March 2017 (UTC)Abongile Sodomo is a South African first class cricketer and his profile has been updated through cricinfo and cricket archive. Some of the editors had misjudged that Sodomo might be my relative and they proposed for the deletion.I accept the fact that it's not the faulty of the editors. But I think I may have not followed the rules and regulations of Wikipedia. I must say I have got the very good oppurtunity to edit and upgrade the objects.I tried about 2 years to open my own account. It's been god sake!I also got some support from South Africa for my contributions about cricket.I am just a Sri Lankan.Abishe (talk) 14:44, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Abishe: Welcome to the Teahouse. Having had a look at the deleted content of Abongile Sodumo I think he does meet the requirements of WP:NSPORTS#Cricket as he has played in South Africa's top domestic league. However starting the article with the negative statement ". . . is a right handed wicketkeeper batsman has never represented his country in international level." isn't the best way of promoting the notability of the subject. Have a look at the way articles about cricketers are laid out and what type of content they have and start again at Draft:Abongile Sodumo so you can get pointers from others as you go without the risk of the article being deleted. Cricket records

[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you have created a new cricket article regarding cricket records. But, it is already present in Wikipedia with the title List of One Day International cricket records and other articles. So, making a duplicate is not good. It is not necessary to provide combined stats, though this is not cricinfo. So, it will be deleted as soon. Your work is good, but try to provide an article which is not in Wikipedia. Thanks. Doubts over the article International Cricket Records

[edit]

Abishe (talk) 08:35, 20 March 2017 (UTC)I also wanted to clarify the doubts that whether the article International Cricket Records is fake, but there are evidences we could get from cricinfo.com about the international cricket records which are combined stats of ODI,Test and T20I.International cricket recordsAbishe (talk) 08:35, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I dont think the article is fake as it cites enough references.Though, all references are from crickinfo itself. The article may be outdated though Yashovardhan (talk) 18:31, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Abishe: Yeah, a normal afd runs for 7 days. It will end tomorrow and an admin will look at the discussion and most probably delete it (as presently, consensus is in favour of delete). You can nominate it for speedy deletion under author requested deletion , however, as you created the article, that'll hasten the process but there's no need of it. A tag has been placed on Howstat, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

A tag has been placed on File:Rangana Herath.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Hello, Abishe. Sorry, but I've had to place a WP:PROD on this article because it fails WP:CRIN (qv). It's possible it might meet WP:GNG, which looks at notability in wider terms, but I doubt it. All the best. Jack | talk page 08:01, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article and the above are factually incorrect. You described him as a first class cricketer and above say it was a List A game. Neither are true: this was a game at the 3rd level of Bangladeshi cricket. This is WP:BIO1E and he'd certainly fail WP:NCRIC and I'd say WP:GNG and WP:NOTNEWS too. Spike 'em (talk) 07:53, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it fails WP:CRIN by a long, long way. It might have a chance at WP:GNG because the story did make a few headlines but I doubt it. Anyway, I've place a PROD on it and advised Abishe. Jack | talk page 08:04, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There may be an article on Dhaka Umpiring Crisis in there, which then mentions Sujon (and the other player banned), but I don't think every news event warrants an article here. Spike 'em (talk) 08:16, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with the above. Maybe the incident meets WP:NEVENT, but he doesn't meet WP:GNG. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:29, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
