(~~~~); how do i change the user name? please assist

To start a new account, visit Wikipedia:Changing username. Choose something that you will remember, but which doesn't resemble an organization name. Some people choose two or three random syllables or words out of the dictionary to create a user name, which leads to harmless user names such as Pijelosu or TennisPorcelain. -- Eastmain (talk) 21:08, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

Hello, ATBLA, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you have edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then get me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that if more than one person is using this account to edit, then unfortunately it will be blocked from editing.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Atama 17:44, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Atbla

[edit]

The article Atbla has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Organization seems to fail WP:CORP, searching for sources has come up with little beyond the organization's web page and social networking pages, and I can find no news coverage of the organization at all. Article may have been created by the group for promotional purposes (see author's username).

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Atama 17:45, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Minority movements often experience difficulty in documenting their history and significance. From science fiction fandom to the Daughters of Bilitis to polyamorists, they have been ignored, suppressed or marginalized, and their history is only recorded (if at all) orally or in small-circulation newsletters that are ephemeral and often discarded. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:52, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sympathetic, but how do we establish notability or satisfy WP:V? Let's say we apply WP:IAR and decide to keep the article around (which I wouldn't support), how do we protect the organization's reputation if we have an open door policy in the article regarding the text? It would be difficult to challenge unsourced negative information if everything else in unsourced as well. I think that's why it's critical that we are able to source our articles, and if that means we can't include an article about a potentially interesting and deserving group, that's an unfortunate but necessary consequence. -- Atama 20:38, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying I disagree with you, Atama; I'm just trying to explain what the problems are here, and trying to clarify that we certainly bear no bias towards gay groups, gays of color, etc. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:04, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
True, true, and in all honesty before I proposed the article for deletion I was hoping to find sources because it seemed like an interesting group and I intended to expand the article. Point taken. -- Atama 16:22, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please choose another username

[edit]
Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please create a new account with a username that represents only you. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may ask for a review of this username block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message. Thanks. The article ATBLA has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Clearly violates WP:CORP and WP:COI, is an advert, and original author removed earlier prod tag without discussion.

Please don't remove it yourself this time - there is an important procedure to follow. See WP:AfD. Ivanvector (talk) 16:36, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, turns out it's me that's using the wrong procedure. I removed my prod tag and replaced with AfD instead. Ivanvector (talk) 16:49, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of ATBLA

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is ATBLA. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/ATBLA. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:07, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
