Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello IP user. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Walter Görlitz, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge. Although you're free to perform most tasks on Wikipedia without registering, it's highly recommended you create an account as there are many added benefits. It's private and secure and it's also free, simple, and quick to do.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
  Introduction to Wikipedia
  The five pillars of Wikipedia
  Editing tutorial
  How to edit a page
  Simplified Manual of Style
  The basics of Wikicode
  How to develop an article
  How to create an article
  Help pages
  What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't commit vandalism
  Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
  Ask a question
or you can:
  Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. If you register an account, you can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you could put a link to it on your user page.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your IP address linked to your contributions page (however, if you create an account, your IP address will be hidden and you will be able to build a custom signature that can link to your own user page), a link to this IP's talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Sincerely, Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:03, 25 August 2019 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)[reply]

Stop icon Do not use multiple IP addresses to disrupt Wikipedia, like you did at Talviyö. Such attempts to avoid detection or circumvent the blocking policy will not succeed. You are welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia but your recent edits have been reverted or removed. If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Block evasion by User:Danieleb82 using IPs from Sweden. Binksternet (talk) 14:35, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Multiple? I've been using one and the same adress for almost a year, as you can see from my changes.
  • It's an adress from Sweden because I am from Sweden.
  • I'm not the mentioned person and this isn't the first time this has happened to me, I've even been blocked once even though I've never "cheated".
  • My latest change (Talviyö) was sourced.
Nice try, User:Danieleb82. You're not fooling anyone. Your style is easily recognizable.
You have been blocked on Wikipedia, so that means you are not welcome to edit in any form unless and until you have convinced the admins to unblock you. Everything you do here before getting unblocked is subject to removal per WP:BANREVERT. Binksternet (talk) 01:23, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anonymous users from this IP address have been blocked temporarily from editing for block evasion.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Ad Orientem (talk) 01:48, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I have been accused of someone else's crimes. I've been doing only smaller edits, like I usually do, and then I was warned for vandalism and being a person I'm not. I'm really not sure how I possibly could prove anything, but going by my corrections you can see I mostly correct smaller things. It's frustrating to be accused of something you haven't done and being someone else when I even use sources for changes. 85.24.216.184 (talk) 04:35, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

If we're making a sockpuppet case here, take a look at these edits focused on how we list the songwriters: This IP 85.24.216.184, Swedish IP 90.129.216.86, Swedish IP 90.129.220.124, Swedish IP 83.254.199.160 (blocked a month ago for evasion), Swedish IP 90.129.195.241, Swedish IP 90.129.201.112, Swedish IP 83.185.32.249 (rangeblocked as Special:Contributions/83.185.32.0/20) and confirmed sock CaptainFantasy92. All of these show the same style. Binksternet (talk) 18:46, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

So, what got me warned in the first place? This IP 85.24.216.184 I changed it into what's on both their website and back of the CDs. What got me blocked? This IP 85.24.216.184 Just adding track length into what's correct based on the track times on Wikipedia. So, apparently the problem is that I'm from Sweden because this other guy uses Swedish IPs. Well, let's look at what's different instead of what's similar, shall we? If you look at the other IPs they have only mobile edits, I have only one mobile edit from May last year. Looking at the talk page of User:Danieleb82 I can see that he has never responded to anything, so this duck apparently quacks a lot louder. It's unfortunate that some of these other IPs have edited pages related to Red Hot Chili Peppers just as I have, but I could literally show screenshots from my Last.fm where you can see that I actually listened to Mother's Milk and Stadium Arcadium the days (5th and 12th of February) I edited the pages here. I've also had my actual account User:Blacknuz blocked indefinitely. The reason for the account? To be able to edit pages where you're forced to log in. I also feel the need to point out that my account has been active since 2007, while the other user only seems to have been active since 2018. I know that the block for my IP is only a couple of weeks, but it's infuriating to be accused of something I'm not guilty of. I've been using and editing Wikipedia for more than 13 years and never had any problems like this until the last 1.5-2 years. I shouldn't have to move to another country to be able to edit without suspicion. Thank you. 85.24.216.184 (talk) 04:58, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
