Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Miss World 2023, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please provide a reliable source that says the contest is called "Miss World 2023". If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Miss România requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Miss Romania, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Arad. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:13, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Avoiding cut-and-paste moves

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Miss Universe Romania a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Miss Romania. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Cut and Paste move

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Miss Universe Singapore a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Miss Singapore. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. "Turkey" vs. "Türkiye"

[edit]

Hi! I saw you used the name "Türkiye" as the name of the country generally known in English as "Turkey" in your recent edit.

While this is indeed the correct name for that country in the Turkish language, in spite of the Erdoğan government's proclamation and the United Nations' adoption of their preferred name, the English-language WP:COMMONNAME of this country remains "Turkey", and it is Wikipedia policy to use that name when writing in the English language in Wikipedia's voice.

Please note that this is not because of anti-Turkish bias or a desire not to keep up with the times; it's that English Wikipedia follows English language usage, not prescriptions by any one group, no matter how official. Please be assured that if mainstream English language use changes (as it did, for example, with "Bombay" changing to Mumbai and "Peking" changing to Beijing), English Wikipedia policy will follow that change, for exactly the same reason that it resists the change now. The WP:COMMONNAME and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names) pages have more information on this.

If you would like to dispute this, please take this up at Talk:Turkey, where the issue has been discussed repeatedly and at great length. Please don't make any similar changes to other articles unless this is first endorsed by community consensus. — The Anome (talk) 16:56, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico, is not suitable as written to remain published. While it appears to be notable, it needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. There are large sections which are wholly uncited. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I did this rather than removing the uncited material in the article, which I felt would be more disruptive. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask on my talk page. When you have the required sourcing (and every assertion needs a source), and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Or feel free to ping me to take another look.Onel5969 TT me 15:07, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please stop changing Turkey to Türkiye in Miss Universe articles. This violates WP:COMMONNAME policies of Wikipedia, and if you look at the the country's talkpage, the accepted name for English Wikipedia is Turkey.
