Missing socks

[edit]

https://www.whybuy.com.au/blog/where-do-lost-socks-really-go-the-truth-why-socks-disappear is an anonymous blog entry on a shopping site, with an AI-generated illustration. It doesn't meet Wikipedia's WP:RS requirements for reliable sourcing and cannot be used as a source.

It's also possible that the text itself is AI generated. Wikipedia needs to be extremely careful about the risk of introducing AI-generated text into its articles.

Given that I can't find any other sources online that talk about trapped socks being shredded into tiny pieces, I've removed both the text and the source from the missing sock article, rather than leaving it in place as "citation needed". If this is a genuine theory then it'd be good to have it in the article, but we really need a reliable published source for it. Belbury (talk) 12:50, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
