Deletion of Moussa Diallo

Hi :) I understand you have suggested deletion of the article about the Danish/Malian musician Moussa Diallo due to lack of references. I noted the other day, that other authors had added several references along with much more info about Diallo's international work (filmscores and charity work for children). But now the page seems to have gone too. And this time without at note to me or anyone else!

I have been an author for Wikipedia (both Danish and English) for several years and as educated journalist/reporter in both Denmark and the US I fully approve, acknowledge and understand the use and need for valid references. However lately I've seen almost all my work deleted regardless. Some for good reason - but other articles deleted I simply don't understand. Please tell me, that our beloved Wikipedia is not turning in to an exclusive club of elitist scholars able to understand extremely long and complicated formula for creating content? We have Encyclopedia Britannica for that. :-)

Best wishes

CSD unspecified on Wicked Loving Lies

Hi, I wanted to let you know that I have removed your WP:CSD, in which you did not list a specific reason for why it should be deleted, on Wicked Loving Lies. I do not see any criteria that appears to be applicable. If there is a specific Criteria for Speedy Deletion that you think applies, feel free to re-tag the article, but I think you may have more success with an alternative Deletion Processs. Monty845 01:50, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I was in a hurry and had to go and left off the reason. It looked like an article with nothing listed on what it was. Wgolf (talk) 01:51, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome messages

Thanks for doing New Page Patrol. Where you put a speedy tag on an article, and the author is new and has no Welcome message on their talk page, it is a good idea to add one before the speedy notice - it makes it friendlier and less WP:BITEy, and gives them useful links so that they may learn and do better next time. {{firstarticle}} is a good one in those circumstances: it should be subst-ed, so you would type {{subst:firstarticle|articlename}}. There is an oddity about that one: it automatically adds your signature, so for once you shouldn't add ~~~~. There is good advice for speedy taggers at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:52, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well almost every film from the early Oscars have a page now

Added Wonder of Women a few days ago. Which means every film from the first 3 Oscars have a page. Now there is a page for a film named The Right to Love but its a different one then the one that was nominated, even if the same year.-which I just put as a template on some pages as The Right to Love. (On such stuff like the cinematographer page) Overall this is looking nice-since unless if I'm mistaken, I believe that is the only film now that has no page from the first 10 Oscars that is not a short film or nominated in the short live Dance cat. re: Oscar nominated cinematographers

Great work. Yes, it's tough to find sources, but the main Oscar page is a good place to start. For example, this is the page for the 3rd Academy Awards to use as a WP:RS. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:00, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Quick review

Jack Alexander Brooks

There actually was a reference in Jack Alexander Brooks, but it was buried in a syntax error. I've now fixed it. It's not a good reference, but it's something. I've thrown a refimprove tag on the article; maybe somebody else can do better. --Alexbook (talk) 02:44, 1 February 2014 (UTC) Yeah it was like how earlier tonight I found some film that had the wrong name listed as a director for years as someone changed it and never had it go back to normal. Well, I'm sure someone will fix your page! Wgolf (talk) 02:46, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Something strange happening when using WP:PAGCUR?

Hi, Wgolf. I received notifications regarding changes made by you to Oleynik, Melnychuk, Sydorenko and Kuzmenko with no edit to the pages and no edit summary. They're all dated for 2 February, 2014, yet none show up it your contributions.

I'm wondering whether 'Page Curation' is triggering off some false readings when you browse through pages (i.e., interpreting a check as an 'nx' without leaving any form of edit summary).

Do you have any way of tracking whether it's done the same to other normal checks using it on pages not on my watchlist? I was considering installing it for my own usage, but don't want to deploy a buggy tool. Cheers, in advance, for any info you could supply! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 03:22, 2 February 2014 (UTC) That is odd-I don't think I have even gone to those pages.[reply]

Wgolf (talk) 03:23, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. Something weird going on. Would you like me to forward my email notifications to you for your reference? --Iryna Harpy (talk) 03:26, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's okay, but it looks like it might be a bug. Wgolf (talk) 03:27, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect so. You should probably report it. I'll send on the email notifications (should you need to reference them for reporting purposes). --Iryna Harpy (talk) 03:30, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, rather than starting off a labour-intensive troubleshooting session for what may have just been a momentary glitch, I've kept the emails and a screen-capture of my watchlist. If you get any more reports about PAGCUR doing the same thing to other articles, just leave me a quick note on my talk page and I'll be able to access them for you. Happy editing! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 04:11, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Just to let you know that another list of these has appeared on a sequence of Ukrainian surname disambiguation pages (Shvets, Polishchuk (surname), etc.). Is Page Curation supposed to leave an automatic edit summary? Something is definitely going wrong. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 23:18, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I did mark a bunch of surname pages as patrolled earlier

Wgolf (talk) 23:19, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't the program automatically add a generic edit summary? If so, it isn't working as the summary fields are being left blank. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 23:41, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Introducing Twinkle

Hi there. I noticed that you help out in tagging new pages for maintenance or for deletion. I wanted to introduce you to Twinkle. Twinkle is a set of javascript functions that give autoconfirmed users many new options to assist them in anti-vandalism, tagging pages for maintenance or deletion, provides rollback links, welcome users, warn users, and much much more.

Many Wikipedians use Twinkle. So why not join the crowd? It's free and easy to use. Before using, you may want to read the Twinkle Documentation to familiarize yourself with the features. You may find that your editing experience on Wikipedia is much easier with this tool. Thanks, and I hope I helped! K6ka (talk | contribs) 16:49, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

DJ Scorpio: World No.2 Hardcore-Techno DJ from Torquay

In that case you might as well delete every famous DJ/Artist from wikipedia altogether then hey because if you ask anyone up and down the country thats into Hardcore-Techno (not Happy Hardcore) and ask if they've heard of him a true Technoist would definetily say yes especially DJ Producer (No.1) who Scorpio goes back to back with. Most people in the Dance Scene have heard of Deathchant Records and Producer's own Rebel Scum Records. You don't see Scorpio in Torquay because he gets too much harrassment from fans so he'll go out to one of the small towns on the outskirts of Torquay just to do shopping!!. It's funny how it recognised DJ Hype I suppose it's because he's from London and not somewhere else??StatoatTBC (talk) 11:53, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[1][reply]

Just wielding your powers for yeilding sake is an abuse of power and it is against Wikipedia's policies. If you Bothered to take the time to read the correspondence between myself and Wgolf you would realise that Wgolf KINDLY asked me to categorise my Article- Something that such an EXPERT like you did not pick up on. Thanking him and asking him to remove the box was purely based on the Box regarding the categorization. I Was at no point referring to the hideous box at the top. But people like you and Santaku and Huon on the live desk are DRUNK with power! I am systematically and speedily working on my referencing so that I can move to other articles. Nice to meet you, Wgolf! I got a notification saying you had reviewed the page I just made, Bluebird (DC Comics), but for the life of me I can't figure out how to see the review. At 22:23 UTC yesterday I received an update notification email titled Wikipedia page Hermann Nonnenmacher has been changed by Wgolf‏. However, the Hermann Nonnenmacher article had not been modified.

Similarly, on 15 February I received an email Wikipedia page Ian Macnab (disambiguation) has been changed by Wgolf‏, but the revision history of Ian Macnab (disambiguation) shows no changes by you.

Hi again Wgolf, thanks for reporting all these foreign-language pages at WP:Pages needing translation into English, and thanks for the thankyou concerning Hoërskool Jim Fouché. Someone else found references to add. But I'd like to remind you that the editors who create these pages - in particular the foreign-language ones - are very often new. Could you try hard not to bite them, please? And especially, let them know when you change tack and remove the speedy deletion template? Being told your article is up for speedy deletion must be very frightening, especially if your English is weak enough that you uploaded it in a foreign language, so it's nice to tell them when it's no longer at risk of that. (I did this for the Afrikaans-speaking editor. There are also some non-English welcome messages listed here that may be useful.) Thanks for understanding. There is a category on Wikipedia called Mathematics Websites, therefore as a Mathematics Website I am unsure as to exactly why a few sentences on a Mathematics Website could not be added. As per the guidelines, I ensured it satisfied the rule "The article may remain if you have enough humility to make it neutral."

Furthermore, the inclusion of the external link I do not feel contravenes "Please do not try to promote your product or business. Please do not insert external links to your commercial website unless a neutral party would judge that the link truly belongs in the article," as firstly the link is important to identify what the entry is about and secondly it is not a commercial website.

If I am mistaken on any of these guidelines, please advise. However as there are 21 other Mathematics Websites, I would appreciate guidance on how to ensure mine is the 22nd.

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Corbettmaths (talkcontribs) 03:10, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

SPI

Wgolf, when you file reports at WP:SPI, don't include the master in the list of puppets. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:50, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My sandbox

Hey Wgolf. Would you mind reviewing the edits I've made to my sandbox and reviewing your decision to place the suggested deletion for promotionalism? I've added some references that might help you review better, and I've tried to address some of the promotional tone concerns. Many of the company's references are in Portuguese, and some of the archived articles are hosted on the company's website, yet I still think that notability is ok. I would value your input. I should also note that I will place this article at articles for creation for review rather than creating the article myself. Thank you in advance.
